'Sintel: The Game' Alpha Finally Available for Download

Sintel The Game is a video game adaptation of popular open movie Sintel by Blender Foundation. The game showcased its pre-demo in Blender Game Contest 2010 and stood at second place.

Sintel – The Game takes place within the events of the movie. Sintel finds herself just outside the town of Garway. She bumps into some bandits who attack her and she is taken into the care of a kind stranger. You play as Sintel and follow her on her journey through Garway. On the way you will discover that the guards of Garway are corrupt, and help town folks to rise against them.

After being in development for a long time, first Alpha build of Sintel: The Game has been released. The game has beautiful 3D graphics and atmosphere, developers have done a great job. As it is Alpha, don't expect a full game out of it but it is very much playable.

Download Sintel: The Game Alpha from here and extract it. To play the game on Linux, you must have Blender 2.6+ installed (available in official Ubuntu repositories).

Once Blender is installed, launch it from menu and open a new file. Browse to your game folder and run sintel_the_game.blend file located in  sintel_the_game_alpha > sintelthegame > sintel_win folder. If the game fails to load, run sintel_win.blend file instead.

Press P to start the game and hit Esc to quit. You will need a decent graphic card to play the game. If you are getting low FPS, tone down the graphics settings or try the game in lower resolution.
