Chapter is a time for all of SURJ NYC to come together to learn, act, and make decisions. At every chapter meeting, you can expect to meet new people, have meaningful conversations, and learn about the work we’re doing together to dismantle white supremacy in NYC.

This fall the Anti-Mass Incarceration Working Group is leading SURJ NYC in a door knocking campaign for parole justice! We're kicking this work off at November's chapter meeting with a training and plenty of time to practice. You'll get everything you need to feel prepared to talk to people about Release Aging People in Prison (RAPP)'s legislation on Elder Parole and Fair and Timely Parole.

Then you'll come join us on one of many weekends in November and December to knock on doors in Assembly member Jeffrey Dinowitz's district in the Bronx together! We will be meeting with Bronx neighbors and having short but impactful discussions about the purpose of the criminal justice system in order to find folks in support of RAPP's legislation and show Dinowitz that his constituents want him to sign on to Elder Parole and Fair and Timely Parole.

Can't make it to chapter? We'll miss you, but you are totally welcome to sign up to door knock with us anyway! Each day we will have a brief training before we get started. RSVP here:
