The ramp that connects from Anthony Henday Drive northbound to Yellowhead Trail eastbound will be closed on Wednesday, March 19 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Thursday, March 20.

The following night, the ramp that connects from westbound Yellowhead Trail to southbound Anthony Henday Drive will be closed on Thursday, March 20 from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday, March 21.

During Wednesday’s closure, crews will pour a concrete retaining wall for a new bridge at the Yellowhead Trail interchange. A power pole will be removed during Thursday’s closure. Both closures take place over night in order to minimize traffic impact on travellers.

Detour

To access eastbound Yellowhead Trail from northbound Anthony Henday Drive:

  • Continue northbound on the Henday to westbound Yellowhead Trail, exit on17 Street/116 Avenue.

To access southbound Anthony Henday Drive from westbound Yellowhead Trail:

  • Continue westbound on Yellowhead Trail, exit on 17 Street/116 Avenue to eastbound Yellowhead Trail

  • Fines for speeding double in construction zones.
  • Signs advising travellers of the detours will be posted.
  • Using Alberta’s P3 model for highways allows Northeast Anthony Henday Drive to be finished in 2016, three years earlier than through conventional delivery and at a savings of $370 million for taxpayers.
  • The Alberta government has committed more than $4 billion toward the construction of the Edmonton ring road, including the northeast section, a $1.81 billion investment.
  • This project is one of many that deliver on Alberta Transportation’s Building Alberta commitment to support the economy and increase market access by focusing on capital plan projects for core infrastructure and key corridors.
