What better place than a brewery overlooking the ocean to listen to great music with amazing producers.

These guys have spent years perfecting the craft of producing great music. From mic placement to reverb selection, it’s time to learn some tricks and tips that will help you raise the level of your music.

Dale Penner’s first hit, while an engineer at the infamous Mushroom Studios, was a track on the Top Gun Soundtrack with Loverboy. Since then, countless projects have benefited from Penner’s production/mixing, including; Nickelback’s The State (Roadrunner) certified platinum in America and Canada scoring Two Billboard Top Ten Singles, (“Leader of Men” and “Breathe”). Dale received the “Producer of the Year” award at the WCMA’s for his work on Holly McNarland’s (Universal) platinum-selling “Stuff”. Other Penner production credits include: The Matthew Good Band, Econoline Crush and Montreal’s Jonas (Certified Gold nominated for “Rock Album of the Year” at 2006 Juno Awards). In 2010 Dale was once again nominated as “Producer of the Year” for Western Canada. Other artists Dale’s been fortunate enough to record are: Shawn Hook, David GoGo, Grimskunk, Sass Jordan, Long John Baldry, Joey Santiago (Pixies), Jamie Walters, KD Lang, Jimmy Barr (Portishead), Helix, Barney Bentall and Valdy.

Billy Smiley has 5 Grammy Award Nominees, 27 Dove Award Nominees, GMA Song Writer of the Year 1988 Co-written 27 #1 Songs, White Heart was inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame 2010 Beginning his career as a performer and producer for the Bill Gaither Trio, he produced the 1st 4 Gaither Vocal band albums selling more than 1 million units. Out of his relationships there he formed the Grammy nominated Rock Group White Heart with producer/guitar player Dann Huff (Rascal Flatts, Faith Hill, Keith Urban). White Heart went on to tour worldwide through 1998, selling over 3 million records, with 17 #1 Singles, 2 Grammy nominations, and 23 Dove nominations.

Eren Cannata is an Emmy award winning songwriter, producer, musician, and co-owner of Cove City Sound Studios. After growing up on tour with the Beach Boys and Billy Joel with Eren’s father, world renowned saxophonist Richie Cannata, Eren successfully released his first solo album “Blame It On The City”, in which the song “Part Of Me” landed a placement on the hit TV show Dawson’s Creek. Some of his accomplishments include working with Demi Lovato, Fifth Harmony, CID, Cody Simpson, Nina Sky, Timbaland, Shea Diamond, and Ron Pope. Eren also wrote songs for Academy Award winner Brie Larson, Vicci Martinez from NBC’s “The Voice”, and Atlantic Records artist Chef’Special which recently went platinum in Holland. Eren is also responsible for putting together a program for the Boys and Girls Club of America called S.O.N.G. (Sounds of a New Generation), teaching the art of writing and creating a hit song to inner city kids. Through this Eren has become a crucial force in New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music as the head songwriting professor by teaching multiple classes and evolving their curriculum every year. Through each endeavor, Eren has been able to establish himself as a force in the music industry, reflecting life experiences both on stage and in the studio. Eren Cannata’s successes all further cultivate his interest and drive to do what he loves best, music.


KOIL is a producer, songwriter and engineer who is known for creating genre-bending music while maintaining high-end pop sensibility. He has built a vast catalogue of electronic and pop music credits and has worked with some of the best in their field such as Timbaland, Diddy, Craig David, Mos Def, Will Smith, Ashanti and Sebastian. His extensive body of work can be found throughout a multitude of media including television, web and digital platforms as well as radio worldwide. Television achievements include serving as an engineer on Making the Band and placements on America’s Next Top Model, Jerseylicious, and So You Think You Can Dance with the recent airing of “Less Talk, More Art” which he produced, co-wrote, mixed and mastered. Music video credits with producer, co-writer, mixing and/or mastering include Jay Sean’s “Make My Love Go” ft. Sean Paul, Nina Sky’s “Champion Lover” and Bob the Drag Queen’s “Yet Another Dig.” Web based productions include Ryder-King, DanceOn (YouTube), Sour Patch Kids (Online Ad), YAK Films (YouTube). He recently co-produced and co-wrote MoonzZ’s “Every Every” and mixed and mastered “King” by Ryder. Collaborating with Jordan Rudess, he developed an award-winning music app, Sample Wizz. An important cause to KOIL is ensuring all children around the globe have access to creating modern music as demonstrated in his work with Music2Youth at the Boys and Girls Club in Monterey Park for “BeatStreet LA.
