Description:

The arrival of spring means that outdoor celebrations and festivals are only a few weeks away. One particular festival that is eagerly awaited every year is the Virginia Fly Fishing and Wine Festival in Waynesboro, VA, and 2014 marks the 14th year of this festival.

On April 12-13, 2014, join fellow fishermen (and fisherwomen!) for a fun weekend full of educational sessions, exhibitions, wine and beer tasting, local food, and of course, fishing. Interested in fly tying, but you don’t know where to start? Join Fishy Fullum’s Beginner’s Fly Tying Class. Curious about two-handed rods? Then you may enjoy the Spey Casting Class with Dan Davala, a Master Certified FFF instructor. Current exhibitors include Albemarle Angler, Spring Creek Outfitters, James River Association, and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.

And if you’re hungry or thirsty, the festival’s got that covered too! Enjoy libations from Starr Hill Brewery, Sweet Water Brewing Company, Hard Rock Bold Cider, Barren Ridge Vineyards, and more. Eat your fill of Sherry’s Crab Cakes, Still Porkin’ BBQ, Eastern Star Mediterranean Fare, and Delicious Dishe Cajun Cuisine.

Festival funds go towards the conservation and restoration of Waynesboro’s South River.

From the Author: The Virginia Fly Fishing and Wine Festival is an immensely enjoyable way to support the local community, enjoy some quality wine, beer, and food, and relish the outdoors. We've found that they accommodate all levels of expertise.
