I loved this book and loved seeing the development of the characters from the first book to this one. I only wish the ending wasn’t so questioning, I would have loved to see the trial and Ophelia’s view on it.

Queen of Wands is the second installment of the Sanctify series, and takes off immediately where Katee Robert's first novel Queen of Swords ended, and tosses the reader out into space for some action packed sci-fi adventure and heated romance.

Jenny O'Keirna has been itching to get off-planet and get back in the captain's chair of her ship. When she gets the chance to help her older brother Boone out, now the new King of Hansarda and a new father as well, she jumps at the chance. She's more than ready to escape once more with her ship Psyche and get some good old fashioned kick-ass time in space. Her mission: retrieve the nerdy inventor Mac Flannery before their enemy Sanctify can capture him. With connections to both Azure Enterprises and Hansarda, Mac's a vital player with valuable tech genius skills that the enemy won't stop until they've captured him. The only problem is when Jenny arrives on the scene for her simple pick-up, Sanctify is already there and waiting to trap her as well. Battles, blasters and space-jumps ensue.

I had a lot of fun reading Queen of Wands. As the cover promises, this book is filled with sci fi action, an kick-ass heroine and an adorkable, sexy hero. I picked this book up from Entangled thinking I was getting Queen of Swords, the first installment of the series. Ooops. Nope. My mistake. I was worried at first that I would have serious trouble following the story since it's the second book, but I had no problems. You can read this as a stand alone, but I'm totally captivated by Boone and Ophelia and will definitely go back and read their story!

Jenny is a fun, mouthy, and kick-ass heroine that I immediately took a liking to. From the moment she swept across the pages, I loved her cocky attitude, yet it becomes clear that she carries a vulnerable side as well. She puts these emotional barriers up behind a mask of devil-may-care attitude and saucy manner. Mac finds her to be a tempting puzzle, captivated by her many facets and sees beyond her facade. One that he wants to uncover.

Mac is this wonderful blend of adorableness and genius. A total tech master. I was worried that I wouldn't swoon for him like I do the alpha male characters I usually read, but smexy is good my friends. He's suffered some tragic losses as well and fights to overcome some of his fears. I found his vulnerability an refreshing change. Jenny finds Mac completely irresistible, despite their differences, and wonders how she's going to stay away from her 'charge' during their long escape trip.

From deep space and hostile aliens to pleasure planets and deadly creature, Queen of Wands takes readers on an action packed action adventure with a fun touch of science fiction and a yummy dose of romance. This is an easy and fast read. There's not a ton of world-building to worry about, and the secondary characters added a fun touch. Triplet guys are member of Jenny's crew aboard the Psyche and twin sex vids (futuristic porn stars) are her best buddies on the pleasure planet they escape to. So, things get interesting. Escaping from the enemy holds twist, surprises, danger and romance. Much more than Jenny bargained for.

My Rating: 3.5 Stars. I liked it!

I enjoyed the second book in the Sanctify series. I enjoyed the characters, I enjoyed the story and I enjoyed the world. The romance was steamy and it was great to see Jenny getting her man. I would read more from this series.

Queen of Wands is the second book in the Sanctify series and this time around we have Jenny O’Keirna, Boone’s sister and pain in his ass! I was glad we were getting Jenny’s book, she was super fun in book one and I knew I would want her story. I’ll come out and say straight away that I thought the man for her would be Cole who she very much enjoys tormenting with her own brand of wit and sarcasm, but low and behold – she has another suitor in geek man – Mac Flannery. Mac is the inventor and genius behind Ophelia’s fathers’ weapons and sanctify would love to get their hands on him and turn the tables on the rebels; so with Boone & Ophelia out of action it’s left to Jenny to lead the rescue mission for Mac, a simple extraction before Sanctify can get their claws into him. Mac had been keeping tabs on Jenny after looking into her following Boones abduction of Ophelia in book one and he likes what he sees, he sees beneath her façade but doesn’t understand her reasoning until he meets her. Jenny is a party girl through and through and no man can ever tie her down and cage her wild ways so she’s in for a huge eye opener when geek man turns out to be geek hunk! Both are unprepared for the chemistry between them and Jenny doesn’t realise just what she’s getting into but that doesn’t mean she’ll let herself be tamed – Hells no! she’s about to take Mac on the adventure of a lifetime as they try to stay one step ahead of the enemy and avert possible war. They have a plan, it’s risky but it puts them right in the hands of the new High Priest of Sanctify…. Can they pull it off? So I really enjoyed this – I knew I would because I loved book one – it was again, exciting, sexy and action packed and opened up the universe even more. Jenny definitely made an impression in book one, she’s fun, full of sass and a girl who has no boundaries – living to be free and her own person – she has problem with authority and not being seen as a capable member of the rebellion, she knows she can do the missions but her brother tends to put a block on her activities. She practically begs for the mission to extract Mac, thinking that it will show everyone that she ‘can’ do things solo and that she will succeed. It’s all good but when she meets Mac, we see a different side to her, a side I think she even hides from herself most of the time and it lets the reader see her in a softer light rather than the dominant female she is. She protects her heart, she uses humour and snarkiness to deflect what she really feels and Mac can see through all of her BS, that’s how you know that he’s the keeper. Jenny isn’t alone in her demons, Mac has them too and some of them are the driving force behind why he does what he does but again, it’s meeting Jenny that makes him want to share, he wants to open up to this woman and he hopes she will do the same but he’s not willing to play her games and that’s what makes him different for Jenny – he doesn’t want to cage her, he doesn’t want to protect her, he wants to let her be her. I thought these two had a great dynamic between them when they get down to it, Jenny is kind of complex in her behaviours and it was always going to take someone to see through that, she was impulsive whereas Mac was a thinker, always weighing the options and results – so they balance each other out a lot – showing us some nice chemistry and a lot of sexual tension. I liked that it was a female who had the impulsive nature, using her sexuality and loving & leaving men behind and that Mac was pretty steady and wouldn’t be used for a sexual encounter, it’s not often we see this type of relationship and I thought it fitting to both characters. The storyline was a great continuation from book one and whilst we had a couple of cameos from Boone & Ophelia, it was all about Jenny & Mac. There is a new High Priest in the enemy camp and he is younger and more aware of what is going on in their worlds, everyone is on tenterhooks as to what he will do now that he’s in charge; who will he target? Will he be as harsh as his predecessor? Will Hansarda be safe until they can mount a defence? … You will find out. I liked the run and chase scenario they had going on and the fact that Jenny’s escape planet was ‘unusual’ but ‘so her’ to even suggest it, she was in control and she’d own it! Which was fun for all involved… for a while. We get a few old characters and meet a few new characters which are always welcome, plus a really cool character is back from book one that seems to be everyones’ punching bag which makes me really want her story because she and her actions are an enigma. There is no let-up in action as we get physical battles, starship battles, unexpected ambushes & power struggles - leading to some awesome fight scenes that leave you breathless. So expect an exciting, action packed read that is balanced by finding love, a person you can yourself with and some serious sexual tension & sexytime. I look forward to book 3.

Queen of Wands is the second installment of Sanctify series, and after read it, imo, this one is better than its predecessor, Queen of Swords. Less confusing world building, no plotholes and still action packed. Actually you might want to read Queen of Swords first, because both h/H, Jenny O'Kierna and Mac Flannery already introduced in QoS. Jenny even play a big role in Ophelia and Boone's story while Mac just barely mentioned.

The story is continued after QoS, so this review will contain minor spoiler. So, Boone now become a King of Hansarda after the event of QoS and he with Ophelia welcome their child. But their sworn enemy, Sanctify and its new High Priest are hot in their neck and Sanctify's next target is Ophelia's friend, Mac Flannery, for his genius mind is a valuable asset for both parties. That's why Ophelia ask Jenny to save Mac. But well, Mac is not a hero in distress, even he's a geek. Because soon Jenny find herself fallin hard for Mac, while they dodging every laser and pursuit by their enemy.

From QoS, I already like Jenny with her wacko and I-don't-give-a-damn attitude. She's still crazy and happy go lucky in her own book, but we will get glimpse to her own wound. How she mask her vulnerability with her cocky demeanor. Sometimes she can be bitchy, like cursed with word "motherfucker" near Mac, while Mac already have a horrible past with his Mom murdered in front of him. But after that Jenny ask for sorry to Mac, show that she, can be mature. Even, of course for the rest of this book, she's sometimes act so stubborn and don't care with her own life.

Mac, well, he can be categorized into beta hero. But he also alpha to the core, especially between the sheet. He can see through the mask that Jenny wield, shield her real self from another people that know her. Mac do not cower under Jenny's badassm, instead he accept Jenny for all her craziness. Also his geeky side come in handy and help Jenny with her crew to avoid their enemy.

The story still fast packed and full of action. There's some little twist in the end of the story and like QoS, someone died. That's what I like from Ms Robert, since she do not hesitant to kill her character (beside the villain). Alas, like QoS, the ending kinda wrapped up to quickly. The worldbuilding not as confusing as the first book maybe because I already read QoS. Sadly, the Tarot aspect not heavily included because Jenny is not Diviner like Ophelia, even Ophelia still give her insight to warn Jenny. Instead, in each chapter, there are images from any Tarot Major and Minor Arcana. I just hope that those images have explanation for I just can guess the meaning for some cards, but the rest make me confused.

I do have a little complaint for the cover. I know that the cover for Queen of Wands is sexy, but it's doesn't show how Jenny and Mac relationship work. I want Jenny look badass, not submit like that. Also, since I read the e-ARC version, I'm a little bit disappointed because there's no bonus material. Maybe the bonus will be included in the final version.

I will recommend Queen of Wands if you love your science fiction to be action packed with an ass kick heroine and a beta hero that will melt your heart. Add it with a good world building and you will enjoy the ride through the galaxy.

This is the second book in the Sanctify series, and although I loved the first book, I enjoyed this one so much more.

The first book revolved around Boone and Ophelia and, although Jenny O'Keirna played a pretty big role in the first book, she is the major player in this second book.  This is her story, and what a fun story it is!  She was my favorite character in the first book, so I was absolutely thrilled to find out that we were getting a book completely devoted to her this time around.  I can imagine a whole series devoted to just Jenny, I really can!

I loved this book for several reasons.  This book is definitely sci-fi, but without being too complicated.  It has all the fun aspects of sci-fi (intergalactic travel, alien creatures, laser guns, stuff like that....) but without all the technical jargon and mumbo jumbo that so many books seem to have. I often lose interest when I'm reading sci-fi (even though it is my favorite genre) but not with this series..... but now back to this awesome book:

Jenny is an extremely likable heroine. She is tough, intelligent, snarky, and totally capable of exceeding everyone's expectations of herself.  Jenny is sharing in her brother's joy of welcoming a new baby girl into the family when a distress call comes in from Mac, an inventor who is currently employed as a weapons developer and is a highly valuable player in the war currently going on between Jenny's family and Sanctify, the evil bad boys who are hellbent on total interplanetary domination.  Getting their hands on Mac would seriously tip the scales in their favor, and Jenny just can't allow that to happen. She she volunteers to go pick up Mac and deliver him to one of his foxholes on some other planet. Easy Peasy, right? Oh, if only.......

The action in this series is non-stop.  It is fast moving and so much fun! With Sanctify constantly on their heels, Jenny is determined to prove to her big brother (and the rest of her team) that she is perfectly capable of successfully rescuing Mac and delivering him safely to his little hidey hole.  The attraction between Jenny and Mac is pretty much immediate, but it takes them a little while to actually act upon that attraction and when they finally do...it is amazing!   Mac is the perfect compliment to Jenny...he is not the typical domineering Alpha male (which would never sit well with Jenny anyway.)  He is more like the "strong but silent" type, so to speak.  He is secure enough to allow Jenny to take the lead when necessary, yet always there to back her up as well.  He is a typical geeky hero who should not be underestimated simply because of his nerdish standing in society.   Plus, he's just a nice guy!

Even though this is the second book in the series, it stands well all on its own.  Everything is explained along the way, and although I highly recommend reading the first book simply because it is a great book worth reading, you won't have any trouble understanding what's going on if you coose to read this book first.  This is a fast, fun, well written story and I am already looking forward to book three in this series!!

Many thanks to Tara Gonzalez at Entangled Publishing for allowing meto review this DRC!

This is the follow up book to Queen of Swords that impressed so many readers with it's sci fi setting and fast paced action. I have only recently been introduced to this authors work and have found it to be both intense and packed full of action. With this new series Ms Robert gives us a world full of aliens, lasers, spaceships and of course romance ! Strong kick ass heroines and sexy alpha males only add to the fun!
Jenny is tired of being stuck at home watching her brother and his new love as they learn to explore their relationship. Oh she's beyond pleased the Boone has finally found someone to make him happy but Jenny misses being in control of her own life and destiny. When a call comes in telling of their chief inventor needing protection there's no way that Jenny will sit around and ignore it. Overjoyed to finally have something to do Jenny gets on her ship and takes her crew to rescue Mac . Sanctify are determined to capture Mac and now that they have his location will do all they can to take him and force him to work for them. Luckily Mac is not exactly the scatty inventor that everyone was expecting! Oh yes he's obsessed by his gadgets and surrounded by electronics but he is no push over . He's capable of looking after himself and did I mention seriously built? Jenny has an itch that needs scratching and she would like nothing more than to do it with Mac! On the run Jenny has one of her amazing or maybe that's crazy ideas to hide out at the last place Sanctify would think to look for them , a pleasure planet! Taking Mac to somewhere dedicated to passion raises the temperature between Jenny and Mac and their mutual attraction only increases in intensity. What started out as a fun jaunt soon starts to be a lot more for Jenny but on a planet dedicated to pleasure there's still danger and it's heading directly for Jenny and Mac!
This is a great new series by an author who constantly surprises me. This space opera type of book may not appeal to all readers but it's such a fabulous world that the author writes about that it would be a shame to miss it. This is a very fast paced book and if honest I thought that perhaps it was a little too rushed at times. I wanted to get to know the characters more but everything felt immediate . I do like Jenny and had empathy for her as her world has changed so much. Her family life has virtually imploded and she needs to find her own place within it but I'm not entirely convinced that her actions suited her character . What I did find terrifically engaging was the supporting characters and would like to read a lot more about some of them. As for our hero Mac well he is most definitely not a nutty professor! He may not always be the one to save the day but he most assuredly does have skills and it was fun to watch Jenny react to him.
A good sci fi read with a sexy romance. A story filled with action and a great cast of characters . I will read more from this author and would suggest that others do too.

This review and more can be seen at http://gothicmoms.blogspot.com/

I have to admit, the title kind of threw me off a bit. Looking at the title, Queen of Wands, I pretty much assumed that she would turn out to be a Sorceress or Witch with like wicked, mad powers. Turns out the reference was to Tarot Cards'. Though I was a tad bit disappointed that was not the case, I was not disappointed in this read, other than wishing I had read book 1, Queen of Swords. In retrospect, had I read the first I would have realized the title was referring to the tarot card. Robert has a true knack for pulling readers in from the very first page, keeping them on the edge of their seats til the very last.

After being what feels like being held prisoner for her own good, Jenny O'Keirna jumps at the chance to get away from her overbearing brother, and the planet he now rules, Hansarda. Afterall, all she needs to do is pick up some genius that Sanctify's new leader is trying to get their hands on, secrete him away to a private location, during which find some time to get herself laid and have a good time. Those plans are shot right out the sky from the moment she sets foot on the planet Mac Flannery is on and she learns that not only is Sanctify one step ahead of her, but Mac is much more than just some geek playing around with his gadgets. He turns out to be tall, dark and deadly, having killed more than one of the men who have come to kidnap him without shedding even a drop of blood. But the real danger is the effect he seems to have on her and the fact that he sees right through every single one of her masks she puts on for the world.

Mac Flannery is more than happy to stay secluded away from the entire universe, creating as many and more advanced weaponry he can to use against Sanctify. So it is not an easy feat being forced to call for transport off of the planet, until he learns who has been sent, Jenny O'Keirna. A very complex of a person, a puzzle in which he has a great desire to solve. He just never planned on that puzzle turning his entire world upside down. And for their adventures to take him to the very planet every male of every species grew up having wet dreams about. On their attempts to flee Sanctify, it always seems Sanctify is three steps ahead of them. The reason why ends up being a betrayal that will cut Jenny bone deep in the end.

Seems that the ties that bind are a very deadly thing in this series'. As it turns out, the new leader of Sanctify has a personal score to settle with the ruling family of Hansarda, and hates all diviners to the very marrow of his sole. Readers will be taken aback upon learning of his familial ties.

Non-stop action from one page to the next, characters to both love and relate to and more than just a little bit of bloodshed. A read to be enjoyed by both paranormal and Sci-Fi fans alike.

I knew before I finished book one in this series, Queen of Swords, that I would be reading book two ASAP. One, it would continue a story set in a world that I found fascinating, and two it would be Jenny's story. Jenny was such an awesome secondary character in book one; I'd be hard pressed to find another one so deserving of her own book in my recent reading history.

So...it's safe to say I went into this one with some pretty high expectations. They were met...to an extent.

Queen of Wands still has the snarky, say-anything-to-anyone Jenny that we saw in book one, only now we're seeing the uncertaintly behind the snark. I loved the glimpses into her psyche and seeing just how much like her older brother Boone she really is. Her conflicted emotions about her father, who we never really got to see before his death in book one, really gave a lot of insight into her character.

Mac too was a great character. He's the geeky-yet-hot guy we're all secretly attracted to--in my mind, he was a lot like Bruce Banner as played by Mark Ruffalo:
(see how I picked a scientist-y pic? So. Hot. Yet still appropriate here.) He's had a crush from afar on Jenny even though they've never met, which was totally cute.

They were totally cute. But somehow, it didn't all exactly work for me.

I still have a lot of the same world questions as I had after finishing the first book, though I've just decided to go with it in this series. I'm not going to "get" everything, and I'll be okay with that. Some of the more sci-fi-ish bits I just kind of read over quickly; obviously there's a reason why I don't read a lot of science fiction. (It starts with an "s" and ends in "cience". Makes my brain hurt if I focus on it too long.) Jenny and Mac's realtionship? I didn't totally love it. They were cute, and they had chemistry, but it felt like the "I love you"s (even though yes, they will wisely put off the actual words for quite some time) came a bit too quickly. Even given the stress of their situation, it seemed too much too soon to me.

However, there is a HUGE surprise at the end of this one that totally guarantees I'll be sticking around for book three. I'm still enjoying this series; even though this one wasn't quite as strong as book one, it still made for a nice escape.

Plus, these characters are just fun.

Rating: 3 3/4 stars / B-- (yes, I'm totally making those ratings up. It deserves more than a 3 1/2 and C+. Deal.)

I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

Queen of Wands is the second in the Sanctify Series. Though it's not necessary to read the first book, Queen of Swords, it will be helpful as most of the world building is done in that novel. The main characters, Jenny and Mac are also introduced in QoS.

Minor spoilers for Queen of Swords lay ahead, though nothing you won't read in this book's description.

Jenny O'Keirna has been stuck on Hansarda since her older brother, Boone, has been named King. She longs to take off and hit all the warp points she can find. So she jumps at the chance to play babysitter for a genius inventor employed by Boone. Jenny's been behaving under her older brother's watchful eye but is ready to let loose and have long-overdue, much needed fun.

Mac Flannery has been inventing his whole life. He's been employed as a weapons developer to Azure Enterprise, the chief opponent against the universe's baddy, Sanctify. Having stumbled upon some very alarming information, Mac raises the alarm and is rescued by Jenny.

I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of Queen of Swords at the Romantic Times Convention in 2012. It was the first novel I had read by Katee Robert and I never looked back. That being said, I didn't think that Queen of Wands would be able to live up to my high expectations since I've been waiting 2 years for this novel. Thankfully, it has surpassed them and, in my opinion, is even better than Queen of Swords.

I was excited to read Jenny's story, having been introduced to her in Queen of Swords; From the moment she first called Boone to when she jumped on the back of an Abura-Sumashi, I was in like and then love. Jenny is an incredibly strong woman. She's smart, funny and can kick ass in a fight. She's also extremely vulnerable, but doesn't show it to anyone. She puts on different masks to suit the situation. No one has noticed, until Mac.

As soon as Jenny and Mac are together, shenanigans ensue. It wouldn't be a Katee Robert book if they didn't. I think my favorite aspect of the book is where Jenny and Mac go to hide from Sanctify. They end up on a planet renowned for sex. Kinks, vid stars and exclusivity come hand in hand with this planet and, what do you know, Jenny has friends who live there. It amused me to no end.

Queen of Wands is a hilarious, sexy read. Built atop Queen of Swords, a fantastic read, Queen of Wands surpasses its predecessor and is one I'll be re-reading often. I can't wait to see what happens next in the Sanctify series.

When Jenny O'Keirna gets a chance to slip her older brother, the new king of Hansarda's, leash, she jumps at it, even if it means playing babysitter to a too-smart-for-his-own-good inventor. She's not expecting the attraction that sparks between them—or that Sanctify is just as desperate to take him for their own.

Never in Mac Flannery's wildest dreams did he imagine Jenny would be the one sent for him. He sees beyond the mad grin the sexy princess of Hansarda presents to the world, and that combination of vulnerability and wicked humor is a siren call he can't resist.

But Sanctify is always three steps ahead of them. On the run—and unable to keep their hands off each other—Jenny and Mac devise an insane plan: kidnap the leader of Sanctify, and stop this war once and for all. Unfortunately, they've just played right into his hands…

Review:

Another great, action romp across space from Katee Robert!

This is the second book in the series, but have no fear you will not be lost if you read this book first. I must say I think this second book in the series was better than the first and I really enjoyed the first book.

Jenny is one sarcastic heroine and I loved her. You know she hides behind her words and actions because of how she was raised and her fear to let anyone get close. But, is one tough, son-of-a-gun! Who does not like a nerdy, alpha male? Well, Mac is that plus so much more. He really is the perfect partner for Jenny and he understands that she needs to have control and backs her up. He is also there when she needs to let go and comforts her.

The supporting cast of characters are great and add so much to the enjoyment of reading this book. I particularly liked Sadie from the first book and this one. When Jenny and Mac go to hide on the Porno planet is awesome and I loved Luc and had a love/hate relationship with Gwen.

This story is full of adventure, action, intrigue and sexiness. An epic adventure that reminds me of the movies I loved so much growing up, except this story was wayyyy more sexy!

Ah, what an ending! Ugh....I cannot wait for the next book, after the bomb dropped at then end, I am on the edge waiting for the next one....Please hurry ;)

Full review available on All About Romance - http://likesbooks.com/cgi-bin/bookRev...

You’ve got to love a brainy guy. Well, I’ve got to love a brainy guy, and, as it turns out, so does Jenny O’Kierna, the heroine in the second book in the Sanctify series by Katee Robert. Jenny is the sister to the hero from the first in the series, Queen of Swords, and some of the universe-building will make more sense if you read that one first. It was still pretty easy to dive into Queen of Wands headfirst, though.

Jenny is on a mission - to get out from under her brother’s direct control, to save the good guy, and maybe to get some hot lovin’ in the bargain. She’s no stranger to getting herself into and out of trouble, and is confident in her ability to rescue Mac Flannery from the potential clutches of Sanctify, a religious organization out to gain control of the known universe by any means necessary. Mac is the technological genius behind a lot of weapons, and a powerful player to have, and he wants to be on their side. Nothing to it, right? But when you factor in Mac’s intelligence, Sanctify’s determination and planning, a pleasure planet (complete with the most famous pornvid stars), man-eating lizards, an underwater retreat, and dubious partnerships, you don’t know where things will go next.

Mac had his really good points and his really annoying ones, sometimes both of them happening at the same time. He’s incredibly intelligent, but that leads to a bit of a self-righteous, know-it-all vibe sometimes that could get on my nerves. Then he turns around and seems to know exactly how to react to Jenny - when to press the matter and when to back off and give her space. In the end, it worked well to give him a full, rounded personality.
I really adored Jenny, though. She’s strong, both physically and mentally, and is able to admit her mistakes and move past them. She seems to have figured out how to be both a warrior and a very feminine woman - as shown well in one scene where she is literally wearing a gorgeous evening gown while beating the crap out of a human-eating lizard. And she’s sassy. I love me a sassy heroine.

It is not often I get my hands on a really decent sci-fi paranormal romance but I do believe I have with this one. On top of that this is the first time reading this author with this being the second one in the series. It did not really matter though because it was still easy to get into and follow which says much because no time for those that don't. Love it when the main character is independent can stand on her own two feet like Jenny can. She gets to be the one to pick up this inventor named Mac much like a babysitter and deliver him to a safe place. Others would love to get their hands on him to use him and his mind for their own evil purposes. She pilots a ship with some strange characters that were fun to read. Actually there is quite a bit of humor in this novel which puts it in the plus scale for a reader. Of course things do not go according to plan or we the reader would not have much to read so a adventure you are swept away on the ship with them ready for anything. One thing after another with characters to support Jenny and Mac that has them having to be one step ahead of the crazies after Mac but someone keeps giving it up so to speak. Also these two also find they are quite the team once they get past themselves so the unexpected builds and happens for them as well. I did say adventure afoot in this novel and quite hair raising at time yup it is. The ultimate is also committed in this novel betrayal by whom you thought was a friend and could be trusted. Sad thing about that also is that it usually will bite that person in the butt too. Characters from the first book are in this one still adding their needed input to make this story that much richer. Very satisfactory ending that will leave you satisfied with the romance and adventure you were just taken on in a ship at times no less visiting other planets without ever leaving home. Received a arc for a honest review.

Once again Katee Robert take us on a VERY imaginative sci-fi journey. I thought she did an excellent job adding new planets, guns, spaceships, aliens and so much more. This is where I feel the author's talents really shines through.

This is Jenny O’Keirna’s story, she is the sister of the hero, Boone from book 1, Queen of Swords. Jenny is a kick-ass heroine and my favorite character of the read. She was sent on a mission to take and keep Mac safe. Mac is a genius and makes special weapons to help take down the evil Sanctify group. He also happens to be the hero of this read. These two with the help of a few friends and shipmates travel from planet to planet to outrun Sanctify. There was some really good action scenes that kept this story moving along nicely.

The heat level was okay for me and there were a few steamy scenes, but I felt that there was instances where things should have been a bit more sensual. I also did not feel the connection between Jenny and Mac as much as I would have liked.

I’m not sure if this is the last book in the series, if it is I feel the ending could be a whole lot more. Queen of Wands does end on a happy note, but it would have concluded better if there would have been an epilogue.

My overall thoughts are that I did enjoy this read, but not quite as much as I enjoyed book 1, Queen of Swords. I’m REALLY hoping that Katee Robert writes another book for this series that would wrap everything up better and answer some of the questions I still have concerning this series.

Queen of Wands is the second book in the Sanctify series and I do recommend reading book 1, Queen of Swords first.

Full Series Review posted at www.abkeuser.com

Queen of Wands is the only book of the three that does not include a Diviner as one of the MCs (and I can tell you, I was really hoping to get the perspective of a male Diviner, after all, Jeremiah is mentioned throughout the first two books, so clearly they exist) and that made for another interesting aspect of the readings. It shows the faith those of other religions in this galaxy have for the foretelling’s of the cards.

The hero in Queen of Wands made me think of Devin from Linnea Sinclair’s Rebels and Lovers. That’s not a bad thing, and there were a lot of ways in which he differed so it didn’t feel stale. Jenny was as wonderful in her own book as she had been in the previous one. Her internal struggles were a bit taxing at times and I feel like that was the point.

The series is called Sanctify and I’m not sure it should be. The group of religious zealots that call themselves Sanctify play a major role in the prequel, and then a minor role in book one and a bigger role in book two. They are ever-present, but they feel like a subplot more than anything. Even though there is a villain who weaves through the novels (and was introduced in the prequel) that particular portion of the plot falls hollow to me.

The problem that probably causes all the other problems is that there is no third novel. The second ends in such a way that it makes no sense for the series to end there, but it inexplicably does. There are some random hits for a third book that might have been published in July of last year, but if it was, it’s out of print. And that kind of kills the series. Obviously, if the third novel does ever come out, my opinion of all these problems could change.

This sci-fi romance takes the reader on a thrilling adventure through the galaxy. Jenny O’Keirna is tasked with babysitting a to-smart-for-his-own-good inventor, Mac Flannery, which she thought it would be an easy task. But she wasn’t expecting the attraction that sparks between them – or that Sanctify wants him too.

This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on the edge of their seat with lots of action, suspense, drama and romance. The author brings the story to life with well written scenes and details that capture the imagination which makes the reader feel as if they are on the adventure too. The well orchestrated action scenes are exciting and believable and the strong compelling characters are easily related to and grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning.

The attraction between Mac and Jenny is red hot and pulses from every page and the sex scenes are hot and steamy, but it’s the relationship that has stars exploding across the galaxy. Danger at every turn, betrayals and enemies around every corner is enough of a hindrance, but Jenny isn’t one to let down her guard and let anyone in due to her past. The romance between the two captures the reader’s interest because it seems that they are opposites that couldn’t be compatible at all. There is a lot snarky and feisty dialogue between friends and friendly enemies that provides lots of laughs and entertainment.

The author provides a world full of action packed thrills, lots of captivating characters, sensual and passionate romance and keeps readers on their toes with lots of twists and turns. I enjoyed the first book in the series, but I like this one even better and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Title: Queen of Wands

Series: Sanctify Series Book #2

Author: Katee Robert

Genre: Romance/Sci-Fi

Blurb: When Jenny O’Keirna gets a chance to slip her older brother, the new king of Hansarda’s, leash, she jumps at it, even if it means playing babysitter to a too-smart-for-his-own-good inventor. She’s not expecting the attraction that sparks between them—or that Sanctify is just as desperate to take him for their own. Never in Mac Flannery’s wildest dreams did he imagine Jenny would be the one sent for him. He sees beyond the mad grin the sexy princess of Hansarda presents to the world, and that combination of vulnerability and wicked humor is a siren call he can’t resist. But Sanctify is always three steps ahead of them. On the run—and unable to keep their hands off each other—Jenny and Mac devise an insane plan: kidnap the leader of Sanctify, and stop this war once and for all. Unfortunately, they’ve just played right into his hands…

Thoughts: Queen of Wands was a bit of an odd read for me, and my reactions to are so varied that it is a little difficult to rate this book. On one hand, the book was distinctly original - the world, the characters, the story, etc. Yet on the other, it was also somewhat predictable - for instance, knowing right away who the 'bad guy' of the story was. And this was not the first conflicting reaction I had - again, on one hand, it seemed to sort of drag on and on - yet at the same time, there was so much adventure and action to it. All in all, the whole thing was just one big contradiction for me - which also left me wondering at times if I actually liked or not!

Bottom line: I enjoyed the story but it was a bit all over the place for me.

Rate: B-/C+

There’s something to be said about a man who can see a woman for who she really is. Strength, intelligence, and beauty might increase his attraction to her, but they mean nothing if he doesn’t know how to handle the woman hiding from the rest of the world.

When it came to Jenny, Mac was that man. He saw behind the smart mouth, cutting words, and rough edges to see a woman who longed for someone to believe in her enough to see she wasn’t a reckless as she seemed, to see she was capable of doing what she’d been tasked to do. Someone like him.

I fell in love with Jenny almost from the beginning. While I love her intelligence and protective instincts, her strength is what I admire the most. Not the strength she shows in battle, but the strength she shows when she opens herself to Mac and pours out her fears and misgivings. If she ever doubted his belief in her and her abilities, she didn’t after their heart-to-heart.

Wands is the kind of book that yanks you in and refuses to let you go until you reach the end. I would know; I stayed up way too late reading it because I wanted to know what would happen next. Mac and Jenny are amusing and complex, complete opposites who compliment each other in the most bizarre way possible. But it works because they experience the best and worst of each other during their adventure, and discover love along the way.

Jenny needs a break from her family and it comes in the shape of Mac. Instead of what should be a simple job, they end up on the run from Sanctify with their lives at risk at every step. The insta-attraction between the two doesn't help matters.

I really enjoyed the first two stories in this series and this one was no different. Jenny is Boone's little sister and Mac works for Gerard inventing gadgets for use in the war against Sanctify - I don't remember meeting Mac before and it seems Jenny may have been in Queen of Swords (it's been a while since I read it, sorry).

I liked Jenny a lot - she had a shit life growing up and now her twisted brother is dead, she wants to enjoy herself. She's total badass, can hold her own and isn't afraid to stand up to Ophelia (who I don't remember being as bitchy in her book, but like I said it's been a while since I read it so I may be wrong). Mac was fun but I didn't like him as much as Jenny - for me, this was really her book with him as a bit part.

Since my reading of The High Priestess, I've read a lot more by Katee Robert and she's fast becoming one of my favourite authors and one who I constantly check on for new releases. For this reason, I will probably always highly recommend all her books to anyone.

Jenny has been assigned to go pick up the inventor, Mac, and protect him from Sanctify. She thought it was going to be an easy mission, but she didn't count on the blazing hot attraction the two of them would experience. And I mean blazing hot. Jenny protects herself by making it out to be a casual sex thing between them, but deep down they both know it is so much more.

I fell in love with Jenny in Queen of Swords and couldn't wait to read her story. She is super smart, courageous, and loves those around her big enough that she would do anything to protect them. She also has a vulnerability that she often uses her snarky wittiness to hide. Mac is just so perfect for her as he totally sees through all of that and gets her. She can let down the mask and share her heart with him and he is there to listen and support her. I loved watching this tough chick fall in hearts and flowers love with her nerdy inventor soul mate.

The adventure they were on together rocked too. Knowing that someone on the inside had betrayed them, but not sure who it was. I have to admit that I was shocked at who and why.

We do get a peek into what life is like for Boone and Ophelia as well too which was a sweet bonus.

I LOVED Queen of Swords!
I give it 5 hearts!

The second installment of the Sanctify series does not disappoint. We met Jenny O’Keirna, Boone’s sister, in Queen of Swords. She is feisty, quick-tempered, and completely outrageous but Mac Flannery, Azure Enterprises prized inventor, is attracted to her all the same. Jenny doesn’t know what it is about surprisingly sexy but nonetheless nerdy inventor that makes her pulse race and libido sky rockets but she grudgingly admits she likes it, a lot. Mac and Jenny give in to their mutual attraction but the timing couldn’t be worse since they are on the run from Sanctify who wants to exploit Mac’s genius to decimate their enemies.

Katee Robert is an absolute genius when it comes to blending sci-fi, romance, and drama; think Star Trek meets the Young and the Restless. The plot runs at a good pace, the characters are realistic and likeable, and the storyline is enjoyable. This book picks up where the first one left off, since it is part of a series, but this book does stand alone for readers who are new to the series.

This is the second book from Katee Robert's sci-fi Sanctify series, and this heroine is Jenny O'Keirna, who is the sister of the new king of Hansarda. (I recommend reading the first one first, Queen of Swords.) Jenny decides she's going to help the new Queen Ophelia out and babysit her friend Mac Flannery. He's an inventor who really sees Jenny, not just her mask, and likes all the crazy corners and edges. I liked Queen of Swords, but I really liked this one. It seems as if the world is getting more intense, more real and coming together perfectly. The cover is gorgeous (though it doesn't really show how awesome Jenny is), and I definitely hope there's a third book.

Head over to the HEA Blog to see how Kate describes her hot hero and gives readers an epic one liner to leave with!

Jenny O’Keirna is a wild child who is fearless. She confronts danger without a thought for her safety. She is sent to take inventor, Mac Flannery, to safety. Sanctify must not capture him. He is to valuable to Hansarda. His rescue will not be easy. Evil, death and treachery surround them. Katee Robert delivers another powerful story in the Sanctify series. Jenny and Mac are dynamite together. In spite of the danger around them, their passion explodes. Can these two opposites find love? I love the characters. Mac challenges Jenny in every way. Their battle of wills is intense and so very sexy. The characters are strong and compelling and the setting is intriguing. The story is filled with surprising twists and turns that kept me guessing. This series keeps getting better. I'm hooked.

As usual I seem to come in late on each series I have the pleasure to read...which means I have to go back and read the first book so that I understand the bases of the series. I found Jenny's character appealing since externally she is as strong as any man but internally she is as messed up as the rest of us. Who doesn't love a geek who is a sexy character that goes all alpha when needed yet allows stands back and allows a woman to be strong and do what is needed without going all he man on her? I get the concept that our characters have something to do with the tarot I'm just not sure what exactly. Which is where going back to the first book may help me catch up. I found a lot about this book that I enjoyed and will be coming back for the next book.

I love this series. It's a lot of fun to read and I love seeing the other couples pass through and build on the overall story line. Sanctify, and it's wretched leaders, makes for a fantastic set of villains, and the couple in this book, Jenny and Mac, were great. Jenny's had to deal with a lot (including a psycho brother and father) and she's out to prove she can do anything despite the cotton wool her other brother, and newly crowned king, wants to wrap her in. Mac is uber-smart and even manages to get a clue about women. Definitely a cute couple.

I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is an action packed sci-fi adventure. I really enjoyed the story. However, I really could have used a glossary for all of the terms that the author was throwing out. I will say that I had no idea that it was part of a series when I read it. It might have been a little bit easier to follow if I had read the first one. My other problem was the title I have no idea how it was supposed to fit in with the story, Other than that really enjoyed it.

Great read! I found Jenny a great character but it didn't have the Ophelia/Boone passion. I also think the ending left the readers hanging, an epilogue would have been a nice way to wrap up some loose ends. I hope there is a another book in the series.

I kinda skimmed this book at times, because I am much more interested in the Ophelia and Boone characters than annoying Jenny, and Mac. The story was exiting enough. I hope the book switches back to Ophelia and Boone in book 3. They are great.

Oh, man, this was a wonderful book, it confirms my thoughts from the end of The High Priestess, and yeah, the world is getting bigger, and I love that! Can't wait for the next book!
