The Spice Girls copied Take That! Gary Barlow goes toe to toe with Geri Halliwell as rival X Factor judges turn on each other

The show kicked off in Liverpool where Gary Barlow was looking forward to auditions but he was in for a battle with guest judge Geri Halliwell.

She said: 'My father was from Liverpool so I'm one of you!' but the unimpressed crowd didn't respond at all as they pretty much ignored her.

Her first conflict with Gary came as he accused The Spice Girls of copying Take That's pop style and example.

Gary told Louis Walsh that there was never a rivalry between the two bands because: 'we made the blueprint and then they copied it.'

First up on stage was The It Girls, formed of Mia, 20, Sophie, 20, Cherie, 20, and Marni, 18, all studying at dance schools.

Geri said: 'Not everybody in Take That could sing, sorry, I’m just being honest,' to which Louis said 'Hey Geri, not everybody in The Spice Girls could sing.'
