Rate it! - go on! Share your knowledge
Submitting a product review for Rate it! has never been easier... Simply register online and write some words about the good and bad points of any product you use to make independent life easier. Our research team moderates the website, checking everything - so we can find the photos and check the specification of any product you review.

If you don't do online, then you can still share your knowledge - phone us with your product review on 020 7427 2460. We also have print copies for those that want to put pen to paper and a freepost envelope, so it won't cost you a penny.

Every month, Rate it! is giving away a free prize, and every review submitted is counted as a single entry to the prize draw. For November, the prize is for an Apple Watch. Sign up today (below) and share your knowledge.
Electric cars - do they work for you?
Electric car recharging on street
Forget self-drive cars for a minute, electric cars and plug-in hybrids are already on our roads and will be more common. RiDC is planning research into electric cars and how easy they are for disabled and older motorists, including to charge.

We'd love to hear from you, including good and bad experiences. Please pass on your knowledge and views.
Email Caroline Jacobs, Head of Development, at [email protected] or ring 020 7427 2460.
And the winner is ..............
Bethann from the West Midlands has won October's Rate it! review prize – a Hive Active system and three connected home products: two lightbulbs, a motion sensor and a smart plug.
She reviewed the Ingrid walking stick and crutch holder, a handy gadget you clip onto your stick or crutch to hang on tables, chairs and so on.

Are care co-operatives the answer?
Our gem of the month is....
The two-year pilot project from DRILL (Disability Research on Independent Living and Learning), the programme led by disabled people for disabled people, and funded by the Big Lottery Fund, looking at care co-operatives or co-ops.

Led by the Cheshire Centre for Independent Living with four other Disabled People’s Organisations – Breakthrough UK, Disability Equality (NW) Ltd, Disability Association Carlisle and Eden and Merseyside Disability Federation - the project looks at the concept of a care co-operative social enterprise model for disabled people who get a personal social care budget or a personal health budget. Accessible housing guides
The Equality and Human Rights Commission has published new accessible housing guides for disabled people, local authorities and housing associations in England, Scotland and Wales. They've been developed in partnership with a disabled people’s organisation and leading housing associations across Britain and set out your rights and responsibilities. Find out more below.
Music is a Vibration
Sense, the charity supporting people who are deafblind, has a toolkit called Music is a Vibration that can make music activities more inclusive, especially for people with complex disabilities. The toolkit is aimed at care staff, teachers, youth leaders, families, friends and young people. Dance and movement let people express meaning physically, without the need for spoken language, and can have a positive impact on trust, confidence and communication. The toolkit is available as a print-ready PDF. Find out more below.
Tuesday - the colour purple
Tuesday, 13 November is Purple Tuesday, the UK-wide accessible shopping day. Its aim is to recognise the importance and needs of disabled consumers, raise awareness of the value of the Purple Pound (worth £249 billion to the UK economy), and promote inclusive shopping. Read more below.
