Photo by Ghost in the Loop DELUGE PRICE INCREASE (REMINDER)We just wanted to give a little nudge to those who may have been sitting on the fence about grabbing a Deluge that in less than a week's time we'll be adding $100 USD to the sale price, respecting how it's now a completely different product to when we first put on sale, increased production costs and reflecting our commitment to continuing to update our baby. You can read about the price increase here: https://synthstrom.com/why/ You have until Jan 31st 11:59pm (US ET) to order at the current $899 USD price. Now, there is definitely a chance we might sell out of current stock before the deadline, however, if we do, we will have an estimated shipping date for your order at the time you place. We know exactly how many we can make per day, so this is accurate and can be trusted, and is likely to be only days, not weeks, of delay. Online orders only: synthstrom.com. Express shipping approx. four business days anywhere in the world. CUCKOO'S SYNTHSTROM FACTORY TOUR SAMPLE PACKWhilst Cuckoo was touring in New Zealand with us at the start of 2020 to celebrate 'Release', he spent an afternoon recording the sounds of our office/factory. From sounds of our staff building and shipping Deluges through to sounds of the building, printer and the staff themselves. Cuckoo has kindly given us a 16 sample taster of the pack for readers of our newsletter to download for free. You can find out about that here. If you like what you hear, you can download the full, huge (over 500 samples!) sample pack from here (for a small fee). Cuckoo spent a lot of time recording, curating, editing and prepping this collection, so please support his work :) DELUGE FIRMWARE 3.2 (TEASE'S)If you watched our last online festival or follow us anywhere online you would have seen we recently shared a clip (the one above) of local Wellington (double Deluge) group, Grains, jamming, showing off several features in development. The video shows Grains experimenting with Euclidean sequencing, individual row lengths, moving kit steps horizontally and new playback directions - reverse and ping-pong. But wait, there's more :) We can finally reveal Rohan has made significant progress on Wavetable synthesis in this clip (or watch below) and a commitment to having it ready for the 3.2 update also. SYNTHSTROM ONLINE FESTIVAL #3 & #4Our third online festival was a huge success, what an amazing time :) Even if you missed the livestream and community chatting, we have created a playlist (also below) with all the videos we're able to so you can watch most of the performances in your own time. If you're keen to join in for festival #4, read film and submit your clip by March 4th: https://forms.gle/UX6XyN2raqAVyUk79 This might be the last streaming festival for a while as I have some new ideas for Synthstrom TV I'm keen to experiment with. Artists go to a lot of effort to make these performance videos and to make it more sustainable for them we will be asking for people to make a "pay as you like" donation to buying a ticket for the streaming. 80% of these ticket fees will be split equally between all artists and 20% to a chosen charity of ours. Synthstrom will not take any of the proceeds. Pop the date (March 13th) in your calendar and we'll announce details closer. PLAYLIST OF VIDEOS FROM FESTIVAL #3 BELOW: You can also follow/listen to Penelope on Facebook and her website: https://www.penelopetrappes.com/ PENELOPE TRAPPES IN FUTURE MUSIC MAGAZINE.How stoked were we to see a sneaky Deluge pop up in shots of Penelope's studio in the latest FM magazine?! Read about her work, her use of the Deluge and more in the comprehensive interview. A WHOLE BUNCH OF STUFF BACK IN-STOCKEagle-eyed users may have noticed we now have a range of stickers in our shop, haha, including a ridiculously oversized, die-cut, "Fridge" sticker, measuring 35x32cm. Updated producer guide/manuals are also back in stock, and now include the community guide printed at the back :) HOW DOES BREXIT AFFECT GB SALESFrom now on, for sales to Great Britain that total less than 135 GBP ($180ish USD), we'll need to charge VAT (which we then pay to the Govt.). This doesn't affect sales of Deluges of course, but for merch/accessory orders. In short time the website will automatically add this onto applicable sales, though in the meantime we might be needing to bill this manually after the sale. NEW FILMMAKER VINYLDuring his days off in New Zealand in February while here on tour on the eve of the worldwide CoVid Lockdowns, Filmmaker recorded this amazing record all on the Deluge.
SA02 & SA03 & SA04Submit a track for consideration here With the original intent of the releases on our label meant to be a way to bring the community together with parties around the world with my pre-CoViD19 plans basically being to continually put on parties and release records for at least a couple of years....well, all that got thrown out the window. We'd put the process on hold to see what the realities of touring could look like, but with international travel still looking messy for the foreseeable future we're writing off touring for 2021 and as such, have decided to just overhaul the entire label project. These were intended to be vinyl releases, with the expense of vinyl shipping moot by me able to ship from various territories whilst on tour, and for users to be able to pick up vinyl from shows. Without this process, vinyl is simply too expensive to be shipping around the place to be practical, especially from NZ :( We would like to continue to release compilations though, and more regularly, though these will need to be digital only for now. If there is interest, we will look to perhaps do a super small run of cassettes of each release for those interested, will work on that closer. You can read about how to submit a track and how it all works at: synthstrom.com/label Great new music blog Sound-Economix.com which focuses on talking about and showcasing equipment to musicians without gigantic budgets has recently put together a shoot-out/battle between the Deluge vs MPC One vs MC-707 vs Digitakt vs Digitone vs Force vs Octatrack. Their introduction and resources in the Deluge portion of the battle are actually pretty comprehensive and a decent little jump off point for finding out more about the Deluge. FEATURE VIDEOSRed Means Recording It feels at times these newsletters are primarily PR for Red Means Recording, but holy, he keeps making amazing videos and we can't help but share them! This amazing 22min clip features a set of three equally brilliant tracks using his Deluge along with a great modular rig. Have had this on repeat, seriously. Spectral Gates Deluge and live post-rock?
