Event Details

SEAD Academy is an immersive and interdisciplinary summer camp program that integrates Science, Engineering, Art and Design through a panel of innovative and engaging courses. Every year, SEAD Academy partners with some of our community’s finest instructors to create engaging and challenging courses for students aged 6-16. Through these classes, Advent GX seeks to encourage innovation and promote the discovery of new ways to understand and positively impact our communities and our world.

DSTR (Digital System for Teaching and Research – pronounced “Disaster”) teaches the fundamentals of mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering through the design and construction of a DSTR articulated-leg suspension robot. Workshop participants will also interface the Texas Instruments Launchpad to the robot and program it to respond to control commands issued via a cell phone app. Participants will document all of their activities on a wiki page created by each team. The workshop will conclude with all team members participating in a Race of Champions competition.

Ages: 12-16 years
Times: 1 pm – 5 pm
Location: Advent GX, 216 W 26th Street Bryan TX 77803
