What's an Open Source Community Sprint?

It's all about our amazing community! During the event, the community of admins, implementation partners, app partners, and developers will come together with a common goal of making the ecosystem around our open source products better for everyone else (lots of laughs and caffeine included too). The goal of the Community Sprint is simple: contribution. Create something impactful that can be shared with everyone in some capacity.
It's an unconference format style event. What exactly that contribution is depends on who is attending and what skills they bring.

Day 0: CumulusCI HANDS-ON-TRAINING half day (July 10th 1-5pm)

This year, we now host an optional half day pre-sprint afternoon on July 10th, before the main sprinting event kicks off on the 11th. This hands on training event is designed specifically for open source community members who are looking for hands-on-training with CumulusCI, and to learn how to capture and manage ideas from the sprint into a community open source project run through Github.

Who should attend: System Admins, users, developers, and consulting partners along with app partners who:

  • New or experienced Spriters who are interested in getting technical hands on training on CumulusCI, MetaCI, and GitHub, and learning how to use these tools during the sprint and beyond.

Day 1 & 2: two-day Main event (July 11th - 12th):

During the two-day main event, our community of admins, implementation partners, app partners, and developers will come together with a common goal of making the ecosystem around our open source products (NPSP, HEDA, V4S) better for everyone (lots of laughs and caffeine and food included too). They don’t need to be a developer to attend. Dive into our open source products: NPSP, HEDA, Volunteers For Salesforce, and even our developer tools such as MetaCI/CumulusCI!

Bring your laptop, your ideas, and a collaborative spirit. What will you specifically work on? That’s up to you! If you are expecting to be talked at all day while you stare at PowerPoint slides, this is not the event for you. You will decide what you work on and how you do it is decided by you and your fellow attendees at the Sprint.

Who should attend: System Admins, Users, Developers, and Consulting and ISV Partners who have:

  • Comfortable experience working with our open source products (NPSP, HEDA, Volunteers for Salesforce)

  • Customized Salesforce and our open source products (NPSP, HEDA, Volunteers for Salesforce)

  • A Power of Us Hub profile, and is comfortable sharing ideas, answering questions, making suggestions in the community
