Women of Healing Haven #2

Search for Healing

Rate this book
A bad boy movie star and a small town single mom have a chance to heal old wounds in this steamy, emotional romance.

Down on his luck, Tennessee Shaw needs to salvage his career and his reputation. Shooting a new show on location in Texas offers an opportunity to do just that far away from family and financial troubles—as long as he can follow his agent’s advice to stay out of trouble while he’s there. It’s a solid plan until he gets rescued by a stunning stuntwoman who proves too tempting to resist.

Toni Jelinek isn’t looking for love or a second chance at her dreams. She put her adrenaline junkie ways behind her when she became a mom until a runaway horse and an uncanny resemblance to an A-lister presents a possibility for both. It also provides a lot of time in the presence of the man she saved—the exact kind of handsome charmer she avoids at all costs.

But their chemistry can’t be ignored, even when it threatens the secrets Toni’s kept hidden for over a decade. If only they can navigate the trauma of their pasts, they may find the love—and healing—that neither was searching for.

If you like heat, humor, and love that heals, you’ll love this heartfelt, contemporary romance from Mellie Callahan.

Romance Writer. Animal Lover. Sports Fan. Travel Addict.

Mellie Callahan is a native Texas girl who loves Dr. Pepper all the time, the Houston Astros most of the time, and her furry friends most of all.

A alumna of Texas A&M University, Mellie has been reading and jotting down stories for most of her life. After years of starting and stopping with creating a story of her own, Mellie finally decided to give this writing thing a real try and her first contemporary romance novel, Ruff House, releases on January 24, 2018. She writes real, strong heroines and flawed, swoon-worthy heroes in stories that mix humor, heat, and heart for an unputdownable read.

When she’s not writing down all the voices in her head, Mellie loves planning her next biggest adventure, yelling at the Houston Texans, tending to her little garden, eating anything with sugar, playing trivia to win, and spending time with her family and friends. She currently lives in College Station, Texas with one very spoiled 70-pound-lapdog named Hank.

Thank you K Bromberg for your KB World books. Because that’s how I found Ms. Callahan. I won her Healing Haven Trilogy and then won an arc of Attraction, her Driven world novel. And then I went back and devoured all four other books. And this one was no different. I love Toni and Tenn. and I love their story. I fell so hard and fast and deep into this book. And just wow!! I also love learning anything I can about horses! That makes me happy while reading too! And of course we get to check in with the rest of this sweet crew. I hated to finish because I didn’t want to finish as I loved it so much. But I love this story, these people, and this town!!

4.5 stars.

I lost myself in this story, the characters were wonderful, the story flowed well and the subjects such as sexual assault, neglect fear, parenting, grief, rights, legal issues, trauma, privacy, anger and expectations were sensitively handled. I loved the development of Toni and Tenn as the story progressed and I loved how they stood up for each other, supported each other and how their connection would never fully break. I liked catching up with previous characters and I am looking forward to reading more from this series. I really liked the different ways love was shown in this and how much a romantic Tenn could be, I downloaded the bonus epilogue at the end and enjoyed that too. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an ARC.

Tennessee is a hot, handsome, arrogant actor and Toni is a no nonsense single Mom. His initial attraction to her is purely physical but the more he gets to now her the more he realises she’s too good for him. She’s had a troubled past and is very untrusting of handsome, entitled men. Sparks fly the more time they spend together and when they both give in to their feelings it seems like it will just be an on set romance. Toni is too wary and Tenn doesn’t always think ahead, but if they can work together they can give each other more than they ever dreamed of. Again this author delivers another hot heartwarming story and leaves me wanting more.

Search for Healing

I think this may be a first Mellie Callahan story for me and I couldn't get enough of it, it was a page turner. I loved the characters, there are a lot of back stories that I suspect need to be told.
There are a few editing problems and normally I would give minus 1 star mainly because I find the errors irritating, but these weren't too annoying.
I'm looking forward to reading more from Mellie.

The second book in the Search for Healing series a well written story that held my interest until the end. Tennessee/Tenn Shaw and Toni Jelineks' story of two people with things in their pasts they must overcome in order to move forward. I enjoyed seeing this story come together and the sensitive items in the story being handled with care. This is a new Author to me. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Received as an ARC, this book was a gift from the author 's newsletter, I have read the rest of the series, as well. This was a nice continuation, full of characters you can enjoy and feel for. Nice flow in the style of writing, and a very good story line. At the end of the book was an offer for an epilogue.. So guess where I'm going?

I have been reading Mellie’s books from the very beginning. Starting with Ruff House and now Search for Healing and I will have to say, she is becoming a better storyteller with each new release. Toni has been part of her stories from the very start. She has been a supporting character until this release. Search For Healing tells the story of Toni and Tenn.
Toni comes from a strong tight knit family and circle of friends. She is a single mother who gave up on her dreams. As the story progresses we learn more about her and her personal growth shines. Strong and independent, Toni begins to shine even brighter.
Tenn, who is an actor that is trying to rebuild his career, has his own share of secrets and personal struggles. He is your typical Hollywood playboy and it not the type of person to settle down.
The chemistry between these two is quite evident but both Toni and Tenn have protective walls around their emotions. Both seem reluctant to let the barriers fall until it’s an impossible battle to win. Their growth, not only as a couple but as individuals, make you feel that you know them personally and just not characters you’ve read about. Search For Healing continues the foundation that Mellie started with Ruff House. Using the healing power of animals along with the emotional connections between the characters. I highly recommend reading Toni and Tenn’s emotional yet sassy story. I reviewed an ARC of Search For Healing in exchange for an honest review.

Toni a loyal kind, loving sister, daughter, friend, once had big aspirations when she she left small town Tradition. Dreams deferred, she returned to her loving supportive family and the ups and downs of life, while guarding a life altering secret.

Tenn. actor, bad boy, sexiness personified, loving brother, uncle and more. He worked hard, leaving behind a turbulent childhood, to become a household name. Though some scars remain beneath the veneer of success.

When these two cross paths, theirs live will never be the same. The course to true love does not run smooth as the pair must navigate drama. miscommunications, personal challenges and secrets.
An entertaining read that builds on the emotion and heat as two deserving individuals get a much deserved happily ever after.

Toni and Tenn

Toni is offered a job as a stunt horse woman in a movie. She meets Tennessee, working on the movie. The attraction is definitely there, but as a single mom she has restrictions.

Couldn’t finish it

It’s not often I give up on books but I got to 25% in and decided was done, skipped to the last 2 chapters and didn’t feel like I had missed anything. The story didn’t have any hooks for me and both lead characters were quite dull.
