Circadian Rhythms & Blue Light

Our ophthalmic world has been paying close attention to blue light rays lately. Whether artificial or from the sun, Blue Violet light rays known as High Energy Visible (HEV) light may cause harm to the human eye. HEV also has a definite effect on our daily rhythms. With the increasing use of electronics like smartphones, tablets and laptops, our exposure to blue light is intensifying. Discover how our natural hormonal rhythms (circadian rhythms) function and the role that HEV plays in our daily lives and what to recommend for your patients.

The Chronicles of Digital Devices and Their Relationship to CVS and DES

Once known as Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS), Digital Eye Strain (DES) has taken the forefront in today's world. CVS symptoms manifested using one computer station for an extended period of time. DES is a result of overusing computers, laptops, tablets and other digital devices. Overuse can cause eye strain, headaches and neck discomfort to name a few. This course looks at lens options, ergonomic recommendations and useful tips we can share with our patients/customers.

Advanced Anatomy and Physiology of the Eye

This course will list and identify the structures of the eye, explaining the visual functions. It will also discuss the refractive status and process of the eye, identifying various conditions of the eye and possible corrections. Included will be muscles of the eye and how they work, and how to identify and manage unequal refractive errors and complications of the eye.

The Secrets of the Lens Cross

This course will discuss the powers of lenses in all meridians by placing the Rx on a lens cross. Also presented will be information that will assist the ECP in both visualizing the final Rx as well as identifying any unwanted concerns relating to the Rx. Unwanted prism and vertical imbalance will be discussed.

Binocular Vision Dysfunction: Vision Therapy and Ophthalmic Lenses

Binocular Vision Dysfunction or BVD disrupts daily activities from reading, driving, learning and can even be debilitating. Treatment using relieving prisms are commonly used for esophoria, vertical heterophoria and divergence insufficiency. However, exophoria, convergence excess, convergence insufficiency and divergence excess are best treated using a combination of ophthalmic lenses and vision therapy. This course explores binocular vision and treatment options including ophthalmic lenses with prism and vision therapy.

Prism Moving Objects in 3D Space

Prism allows us to move objects in 3D space for vision therapy, contouring prism, strabismus relief, traumatic brain injury therapy and prism thinning. Using the Pure Optics method, you will learn how to easily master prism including induced, prescribed, amounting, canceling, combined, mechanical vs. generated prism, bi-centric grinding and ANSI tolerance. This fun and interactive course makes prism easy.
