The Bye-Bye Bouquet

Rate this book
Every month for the past year, like clockwork, Meile Simon has gotten orders at her shop for the same type of bouquet, from the same guy, delivered to twelve different girls. By the third month, she starts to take note.

Warren Leigh likes women. He does. He knows there are too many beautiful women out there just waiting to be plucked by the right guy. But he firmly believes that personal relationships with them must have an expiration date.

When the girl who likes to watch flowers bloom encounters the guy who's only in it while the fragrance lasts, curiosity gets the best of both of them.

In the midst of intermittent weather, will their connection blossom or wilt?

Chi Yu Rodriguez has many feelings. Sometimes these feelings find their way to paper in the form of short stories and fiction online. Sometimes they don't come out at all and end up as unresolved sexual tension or terrible internal angst.

She prefers making imaginary people go through these feelings for her pleasure. Her muses hate her for it, and they repay her by being forever fickle.

She wrestles with them in her head everyday.

The story's premise was the perfect hook for me. From the first page where Meile explains what the different flowers mean, leading to her quickly growing hate for this guy who knows how to use them so adeptly to break hearts, it was difficult to put the book down. A good execution of the hate you-love you trope, the story takes its time to simmer until it is ready to give you a satisfying ending. The Bye Bye Bouquet is a light, romantic, fun read. Can't wait for the author's next book!

I feel bad.

It's not for me. I feel bad, the introduction was gripping Andi waiting for something else and it proved to be what I truly was thinking.

The Bye-Bye Bouquet is a story about Meile, a girl absolutely in love with flowers and its meanings, and Warren, an upfront playboy with a devastatingly charming smile and a penchant for sending his playmates’ bouquets when he breaks up with them.

The Bye-Bye Bouquet is a quick read that will most definitely make you simultaneously smile, gush, rage and want to hug/smack/kiss/hit the main pairing and all of their friends. I enjoyed this quite a lot though I wished it were longer. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it too. 

Other stray thoughts about TBBB:
-Everyone has a Rachel (Meile’s BFF) in their lives. She makes everything instantly fun, even if you don’t feel like it.
-Meile’s dad is probably one of the sweetest dads I’ve read in a while.
-How cool is the name Meile, though?
- Geoffrey/Rachel… you’ll get it when you read the story!
-I’ve found an appreciation for amaryllis.

I don't ALWAYS judge a book by its cover but most often than not, I get drawn to read books with pretty pretty covers. Chi Yu Rodrigruez' The Bye Bye Bouquet is one of these. It's simple yet something that is really good for the eyes - Just look at that beauty!

Moving on, when it was first released, I was easily drawn to its blurb as well. Call me traditional, but I'm a girl who likes flowers so you can say that Meile's story interested me considering that she is passionate in something that I greatly enjoy.

I loved the fact that it touched upon several aspects of life although it did focus mainly on romance. Meile's relationship with her father was so sweet *awwwww* and I can't help but relate with her a bit. It's my parents who often tells me to "go out and have fun" when all I wanna do during my free time is to do what I love (AKA reading) Speaking of "having fun", reading about Meile and Rachel's friendship was loads of fun. This type of bestie is too archetypal but nonetheless, I still like reading about them.

There were also a little bit of "mystery" at some point which added to the intrigue that kept me going through the pages. Basically, the plot was simple but you'll want to know how Miss Rodriguez will be able to execute it ;)

If there's one thing that I think could've had some improvement, it is that I wish Warren's reason for doing the things he did was more fleshed out in the story.

Overall, I'm really glad that my first Chi Yu Rodriguez' work did not disappoint! It was the perfect match of sweet but realistic. Four out of five rating for Chi Yu Rodriguez's The Bye Bye Bouquet!

This was a short read. It was fun and easy to read and I had a good time. It's about a florist who every month she gets an email from a guy, requesting to send a bouquet of flowers to a girl. And each month, it's always a different girl, different address to send the flowers.

Because it's such a short book, I didn't find out A LOT about these characters. It was like experiencing it in a 2D movie instead of 4D, with the emotions, the roller coasters and the feels thrown at me. Warren felt very flat to me, I wanted to like him but everything around him seemed very... weird. I mean, sure, I liked their relationship. I'm always a hopeless romantic (as I've said in past reviews) and I get carried away with anything close to a kiss and good flirting with smirks. So of course I did get carried away with them as well. But not as much as I would have wanted.

I love the florist shop aspect. And I did love the friendship Meile had with Rachel, it was so funny and great. And I actually want a book about her and this cool dude that also happens to be in this book *wink wink* The relationship between Meile and her dad is also A+

I felt like I was reading a one-shot manga. It could actually work really well into a short animated romance movie. I could totally see shoujo flowers dancing around the pages. It had that effect on me and one more reason I just enjoyed the book a bit more.

I finished this book in one sitting. There really is something enchanting/whimsical/dreamlike about a guy who sends break up bouquets monthly to a different girl every time. I guess that's what got me to purchase this book. Hearing an excerpt read live, helped a lot too. It's one of those I've never read this book but why am I so kilig? And it made me want more and know more about the story and the characters. Why they are the way they are? What makes them tick? Why does Warren do that? Although I want more back story on that.

I recommend this to anyone looking for a light, feel good read that doesn't leave you hanging and actually makes you want more of the characters and not just the main ones.

The Bye-Bye Bouquet is a nice, fun, and easy read. The prose flows really well, and it's easy to get lost in the minds of the characters because their voices sound so real. I especially loved how Meile and Warren were fleshed out, but the supporting characters AND the events that have solidified their ties with the main characters really, really made me fall in love with the story. All in all, I really enjoyed this book, and would gladly recommend it to those who want to breathe some 'kilig' into their lives.

Rodriguez writes beautifully. Worth reading if you're into chicklit movies, because I felt like I was watching one, especially at the beginning. While I was reading the words, I imagined the character's voice narrating, and the opening scenes accompanied by whimsical, orchestral music. Looking forward to reading this author's future books.

I love it! The story is short and sweet. The characters were lovable despite of being flawed and imperfect. It's a refreshing to read this kind of romance. It wasn't over the top but the feels hits to the right places. I'm smitten by Phillip Warren Leigh.

I wasn't gonna post anything today (bec I'm exhausted af) but FB memories reminded me of my #MIBF2016 haul and OMG, it took me two years but I finally read all the print books I got that day, and those were all romanceclass books to boot! (The first batch of this addictive book hoarding hobby! 😂)

So yeah, I've only managed to read and finish Chi's book last stormy weekend and agh, I never should've waited so long. I loved it! The pacing, Meile's voice, the romantic-comedy-ness of it all in her POV is fantastic! I would like less of the emotional labor on the heroine's part, and even more grovel (yes, nakulangan ako, Warren, don't @ me!) but I still thoroughly enjoyed this book. ⠀

Aside from the love-to-hate-to-love roller coaster that Meile and Warren went through (the ride was delicious!) I also loved the Dad parts, the second lead (which is another romance I want to "bloom"), Meile's love for flowers, her lingering love for her mother, and Chester! 🐶.

4 of 5 🌟s. It is strongly and pleasantly written, and now I'm craving for more of Chi's books. (Lucky for me I have her newest short story anthology! 😘)

This is actually one of the first books I put in my #romanceclass to-buy list because I fell in love with the cover, and the premise is very intriguing.

The story is pretty short, and I would've liked some more things to be explored. I needed some more rationalization on Warren's issues, and I needed a little more character growth, but I did enjoy most the parts that were already here.

I super love Meile's disposition in life and her passion for flowers, I also kind of identify with her old lady habits, she's adorable. I also loved how intuitive and supportive his dad is when it comes to her. Also, I would definitely want to read more on Geoffrey and Rachel, they're very cute.

Fun fact: I see Warren as M. A gif replays in my mind of his side smirk when he said "tatoos freak you out?" in the live reading. Hahaha.

I have mixed feelings about this one; the set-up was great, I liked Meile, the side characters were great... but I'm still not sure that Warren redeemed himself, or that his earlier jerkishness was really explained in a way that made it tolerable.

Giving someone a second chance isn’t always easy, especially when you’re the type of person who forms very strong opinions about someone and very rarely allows those opinions to be altered.

In its core, The Bye-Bye Bouquet is a story about second chances. It tells us how welcoming the possibility of goodness shining through a broken person’s soul can offer healing, not only to us but to the other person as well. Told through a narrative that’s fun, warm, and at times flirty–that seems to be what Warren was made for, after all–this book is a must-read for those who enjoy quick, feel-good stories that leave a smile on your face.

I loved how cute this book was! It was short and perfect to read on a 4 hour flight home from vacation. I thoroughly enjoyed how quirking the main character was and I also loved all her relationships in the book. It's rare to come across a story where I like all of the characters... but I did! I'm hoping for a sequel with Rachel. :-)

When I read the blurb for this book, I was instantly interested. It seemed so good, I couldn’t wait to start reading it. Unfortunately, that amazing concept wasn’t executed how I’d like it to and it left somewhat of something to be desired.

It’s about a florist, Meile, who every month gets an email from a guy, requesting to send a bouquet of flowers to a girl, but in a not-so-romantic-way, since the flowers are a way for him to break up with this girl.

As a short story, I understand that I can’t expect a whole lot going on in this book, I was even waiting for it to be solely based on romantic aspect of it with a few side-relationships, I would have been happy it that’s how this book went, not gonna lie. But, unfortunately there was some unnecessary drama that was added for whatever reason and it just made the other aspects of the book feel rushed and undeveloped.

It started out great, and I was enjoying the pace of the book up until Ginger showed up, that really made no sense to me. After that, everything moved so fast between Meile and Warren, all her restrictions about him simply out the window and she decided she wanted to be with him, just like that. I felt no connection between these characters, no depth, no spark.

I wish we would’ve gotten more background story, but I wasn’t particularly expecting it since as aforementioned, it is a short story. I did like that Warren tried to make things right with the girls, even though he was pushed to do it by Meile. Overall, it was still a quick and easy read, and good or bad it was very entertaining.
