The Getaway Car

Rate this book
If only we’d met at a different time, under different circumstances. A time when we could’ve jumped in his car and taken off without a care in the world other than what crappy motel we’d stop at next.

But we didn’t.

No matter how fast he drove, we hadn’t been able to outrun our pasts. And ever since our last night together, I dreamed about him. About Talon. The man with the dark, haunting eyes, the gravelly voice. The man I gave my heart to.

Our love may have been rerouted...but it wasn't over.

Fate gave us a second chance.

Leddy Harper

Leddy Harper had to use her imagination often as a child. She grew up the only girl in a house full of boys. At the age of fourteen, she decided to use that imagination and wrote her first book, and never stopped.

She often calls writing her therapy, using it as a way to deal with issues through the eyes of her characters.
The decision to publish her first book was made as a way of showing her children to go after whatever it is they want to. Love what you do and do it well. Most importantly Leddy wanted to teach them what it means to overcome their fears.

This story contains three parts. The first part is about how Maggie and Talon saw each other and become companions and then lover (just in two days) and then Maggie stole his car, his phone and left him at the motel room in unfamiliar town with a nearly empty wallet and even worse with the police! Part two was four years later. He got out of prison and he still thinks that night Maggie took advantage of him and in these years his hatred regarding Maggie had grown worse and he had the desire to find her and reclaim what was his! In part three all the secrets came out and we find out what happened to Maggie before and after seeing Talon.

This story was a bit slow for my taste but I didn’t mind because I liked the plot and I should say the first part was a bit boring for me but after that, it got better and I really enjoyed it. I guessed the twist but it still didn’t diminish my enjoyment. Told in dual POV, 1st person. It’s a stand-alone novel and it’s angsty. All in all, I liked it and hope you enjoy it as well!

*** This book is also published as "The Getaway Car".

*********************************************

I love Leddy Harper's work most of the time but this book was not one of my favorites. It wasn't bad but I didn't like it enough, either. It was just "meh".

*********************************************

The book is divided into 3 parts:

Part 1.

This part tells us how Maggie & Talon meet, how he tries to help her and how close they get in just 2 days. Then we witness how she leaves him in the end, stealing his phone, his car etc.

Talon ends up in prison

Part 2.

Four years pass. Talon gets out of prison.

We learn what had happened to Talon before he met Maggie and why he was in prison.

3 months after he gets out of prison, he finds Maggie and asks for his car back. He is extremely pissed at her for what she did. Slowly, the truth about that day and why Maggie flew away is revealed.

We also learn what had happened to Maggie before she met Talon and why she was running away from home.

They slowly find themselves falling for each other a second time!

Part 3.

The suspense about Maggie's situation gets thicker and this part is more about how Talon discovers the whole truth about Maggie's situation, including the parts she was still hiding from him and then, how he tries to help her, risking his own life.

*********************************************

Safety:

- She was a virgin, he wasn't.
- There is no cheating. No OW/OM drama.
- Both are celibate during separation.

*********************************************

Writing & recommendation:

The book is told by dual point of view and also at the end of each Part, there is a "Truth About" section. The very last one is told by the villain himself. The book has a satisfying Epilogue.

The story maybe sounds great in theory but while reading it, I was bored most of the time. The suspense element kept me going on but whatever I guessed came true so I can easily say that it was predictable.

Leddy Harper books usually make me feel more; in this book, I wasn't moved by the romance. And when I am not invested enough in the romance part of the book, it loses my attention. Hence me finishing it in 4 days, which is totally unusual for me.

If you want to try a Leddy Harper book, I would not be recommending this one. I would say you should definitely try LUST or KISS MY ASH.

I liked this romance even if it’s dark and has a big tragedy in it.
So be warned this is no hearts and chocolate story.
It’s also a thriller one.
It’s about missed chances or maybe bad timing.
Our characters meet accidentally when they are both running from something dangerous. She’s running from some drug dealers and he’s running because he killed a man.
Accidentally they both did something very wrong and dangerous.
He killed this man because he was trying to defend himself and she run with the dealers money.
They spend two days together and start feeling something, eventually they even have sex but when the heroine receives a text from one of the dealers where he threatens to have her arrested she steals the hero’s car, his id and runs away leaving the hero alone. He is arrested and spends four years in jail.
When he comes back he wants to find the heroine and get back his car.
He thinks she set him up but actually she went back to him and waited for him for two days, then she tried to find him but couldn’t.
A case of bad timing.
There are more secrets to be revealed and I don’t want to spoil too much because it is worth reading if you’re interested, but I have to admit the book was both tragic and angsty and compelling.
- they both made mistakes because they were too young. He had addiction issues before meeting her and she was really silly because she acted before thinking.
- I liked them both because they were two broken people who healed each other and I liked that the drama wasn’t from cheating or some abuse from the hero but it all came from the outside world. Their parents, friends, relatives were those who caused all their pains.
- both were celibate during their four years apart and there’s no ow/om drama, and this proves you can have a very angsty romance without an asshole for a hero. Oh thank god, I was really unlucky lately with my choice of book.
-it has some triggers because of the violence in it. So be warned.

Leddy Harper has once again given readers a fantastic story. The Getaway Car took me on a journey as the characters literally took a journey together. From beginning to end I was emotionally invested in the characters and storyline. Their meeting was unusual and just the start of a great story that would span years, states and the changing of many lives. There was romance and a little mystery here. I got angst and laughter from this story as well. Talon and Maggie were not your typical hero and heroine but that's what this author always seems to give. Talon had secrets and I am in awe of the fact that even as they unfolded and despite what they were, the author already had me firmly in his corner. But overall I just feel like I got more than I expected from the blurb. It was merely a hint or teaser of what was to come and it is well worth reading.

"Maggie was like a shot of heroin - offering the promise of better things, yet full of lies."

The Getway Car was my second book by Leddy Harper. Not only is the blurb pretty intriguing but I also fell in love with the cover. So I got curious what this is about. I got a ride I couldn't have been prepared for, even if I tried.

"He truly was trying to save me, and as much as I wished he could, it would only ruin him in the end."

Leddy has a great way of telling a story. You start the book and find yourself right in the middle of it all. No warnings or head-ups. You are just there and need to go with what is given. This way you live in a constant state of wondering as neither character gives away much about what really happened.

"If smiles had a sound, his would be my favorite song."

As the story unfolds itself, you find that this book has different parts within the timeline. Usually I don't like the timeline jumping, but here it is well dosed and gives the book the perfect pace. It keeps the suspense up until the very end and hands you just the right amount of information without revealing too much.

"From the first glimpse into her eyes, I knew she'd be my salvation."

Maggie is somehow a lost soul obliviously looking for protection. She was broken by people who should have done nothing more than love her unconditionally. Her trust in Talon is kind of beautiful. Their connection is instantly on a trust level only souls who recognized each other can have.

"... he was hell-bent on making me suffer. While I needed the cure, he gave me the plague. And just when I didn't think I'd survive, he offered me a vaccine."

Talon is just great. I love his protector heart and it's pretty obvious that as much as he wants to hate Maggie, he just can't, because he loved her all along. Four years, after their first encounter he'd gone from the need to punish her, back to the hope to rescue her - from hating her to loving her - all in three days. Talon is simply a guy every girl could fall for - I certainly have.

"I was pissed that we'd wasted so much time apart. That the universe had fucked with us, as if we'd been its personal entertainment."

Maggie and Talon take us on two different road-trips, yet so similar. They take us on a road of self-discovery, on a journey to their hearts and their love. Their love story is unique and thrilling. A emotional roller-coaster, keeping your heart racing, wanting more. Thank you Leddy for this fantastic story!

"The universe wasn't laughing at us. It had done this on purpose to remove the barriers that had kept us from having more."

4.5 "You smell good" Stars!!!

"Maggie was a shot of heroin—offering the promise of better things, yet full of lies."

Love Rerouted (formerly, Getaway Car) took me on such an exhilarating ride. From the moment I read the prologue I was hooked. The story grabbed me and the main characters intrigued me. It was suspenseful and had me guessing as to what was going to happen next. Surprise after surprise had my pulse racing and biting my nails. But I wouldn't have had it any other way. Love Rerouted was nothing what I expected, but it was everything I didn't know I wanted or needed.

"If smiles had a sound, his would be my favorite song."

Maggie and Talon were two characters that needed saving. Two characters that took me on an emotional journey. From their first encounter it was fate they were meant to meet. And thus begins the start of their story. Talon and Maggie brought the angst as well as the humor. Their chemistry was evident. Added to that was the mystery of what they were both running away from. Their easygoing banter was my favorite. But honestly, everything about Talon and Maggie was my favorite.

"Since we met, the first time I laid eyes on you, I've wanted to protect you. I've never understood it, nor have I ever felt that way about anyone else. It's like this need within me up keep you safe—a compulsive desire."

Talon, ugh, I loved him so much! He was selfless and just amazing. His protectiveness towards Maggie was beautiful. He was everything Maggie needed and more. Both Talon and Maggie learned so much from the other. And it just added to their connection.

"From the first glimpse into her eyes, I knew she'd be my salvation."

Love Rerouted was my first Leddy Harper read and it most definitely won't be my last.

Damn! Leddy Harper did it again. This time, she made me realize how much I miss and love her words! The Getaway Car is one perfect description of how talented she is as a writer. Her brilliant imagination knows no boundary and as a reader vying for all things Leddy, she WOWED me again!

Talon and Maggie had me from the very first page and I was sucked right into the world Leddy created for them. I was so ravenous of her words that the characters instantly became a part of me. They pushed me to my limits with a mind game that kept my head twisted and guessing all throughout my ride with them. I was at the edge of my seat basking all the feels of what seemed like a journey of discovery, secrets and love with angst and emotional roller coaster seeping through the pages. It was just a beautiful read that had me hooked and captivated. Gahd! Leddy just made me feel SO MUCH!

It's true. The Getaway Car is one unique story I enjoyed reading. It was a book in a total package and I want everyone to snatch it up. Words and lines were crafted beautifully and fantastically that reading wasn't an effort. Everything just flowed smoothly and flawlessly. I'm not one who dig books with gap timelines but she aced it. The connection was still spot on and all throughout the rest of the story never did I felt any fall out with the characters and the plot. She slayed it! And with that, I fell deeply into this emotional and angsty ride. I promised myself I wont cry because such always happened whenever I read Leddy's works. But gahd! I couldn't help not to. I could feel the emotion so much that tears were just leaking. My heart was gripped so much as I have been affected how sexy it was. Lordy! This book made me a goner!

Overall, I love The Getawa Car. I highly recommend it. Maggie and Talon's ride through Leddy's brilliant imagination was perfect. I love how uniquely written it is. I love the thought that Leddy has that unique writing style that always captivates me.
She is that woman who knows what she's doing. Her work has "Leddy" imprinted on it and you'll know it just by reading it.

Great job again Leddy! I can't get away with The Getaway Car. It's utterly a beautiful story I wont mind reading over and over again. Gahd! Everybody should read it!

Meeting a man at a gas station can be tricky.
Falling in love in two days is possible.
But fixing what's broken...that's harder, might even be impossible.

Coincidentally brought together.
Unique situation pulls them apart.

The Getaway Car is a unique and intriguing story.

Should I run for the hills? Should I be nervous? Scared? Nervous? Nonsense... Lol. This author had made me cry a few times but I love her to pieces and can't read her books fast enough.
Each book is like traveling into a world of desire and love, forgiveness and betrayal...
Leddy Harper has a permanent place in my heart so she's a lucky girl. Lol.
Her writing is simple yet powerful, full of meaning and feelings. Each word will make you feel things and see things differently. Trust me. Been there and done that.
The Getaway Car is her latest release and tells the stories of Maggie and Talon.
Talon had a bad childhood that marked him. He tried to stay away from trouble but it looks like trouble is stalking him. Despite all this he has a kind heart and is super protective and loyal to the ones he loves.
Maggie away wanted to get away. Her life hadn't been easy so what better way to start over than to getaway?
Dayum... Just the prologue was my undoing... Jesus.... What a beginning...
The book ended and I was stunned and speechless. I was amazed and my heart felt so full it might burst.
The plot is superb, very well written, super engaging and intense. The interation between the characters started bumpy but it changed during the course of the story.
This book presented us with madness, crime, punishment as well as love, happiness and friendship.
There were parts of the story that I saw myself wanting to get into the book and hurt someone but there were others that I wanted to hold them. This book made me feel things and see things differently. And we have some naughty stuff as well. Hell yeah.
Leddy you almost gave me an heart attack... Jeez you made me suffer but you're lucky that I love you. Your books have a permanent place in my heart. I'm scared to day this but I can't wait for the next one...

The Getaway Car by Leddy Harper is truly an amazing read! Such a book filled with romance, suspense, at times loneliness, moments of desperation, lots of twists & turns, drama, intrigue, and intense chemistry. Maggie Abrams and Talon McNeil meet under unique circumstances. From that meeting, they go on a “getaway trip” one that is filled with secrets and out of that trip develops a deep connection, an intense chemistry. They are running from their past mistakes. Unfortunately, there is no running away from the past. Like with every trip, it is filled with ups and downs, filled with such pitfalls it is amazing to read everything that happens. All Maggie and Talon can do is try to weather the oncoming storm and see what direction they are going to be directed to. This is one beautiful and amazing 2nd chance love story that a bit of a romantic suspense read. Maggie is young, beautiful, had an innocence to her yet also due to much that has happened in her life seems wearied by life. Talon is handsome, strong, in his past has had some trouble and does his best to be the good guy . Both Maggie and Talon have pain in their past and try to overcome it...this is their story and what a story it is. The story is broken into three parts with dual POVs. There is so much going on and so much that happens, when the twists took place, I couldn’t believe what I was reading and I was so glad that Maggie had Talon in her life. Without giving any spoilers away, this is one emotional romance mixed with romantic suspense—tissues will be needed and know you will be on the edge of your seat until the very end. I loved every heart pounding, emotional, angsty moment. The twists and the flow of the story will keep you hooked which is what definitely makes this a “getaway” !

My Rating: 4.6 stars *****

Mind Blown. My first mistake was thinking this was going to be just another romance novel. My second mistake? Taking so long to start the book!!! What was I thinking!!??

Maggie and Talon meet in a very unusual way. He bumps into her in a gas station, that isn't THAT unusual but the circumstances surrounding them both, are. But you have to read it to find out. I have no intention of spoiling this for anyone.

People do stupid things in moments of desperation. Loneliness only increases that level of idiocy.
- Talon

Just tell me, is anyone going to come after us? Do I need to find a creative escape route? Talon

Which side of that spectrum are you on? It's obvious this information comes from experience. So are you the guy who pays for sex? Or the one who needs to hide it from someone else? - Maggie

Sometimes the lives we live can make five years feel more like ten or even two...

"It's not so much about flirting as it is my need to feel a connection to someone, because I'm not sure when I'll get another chance." Maggie

This book was so well written and the suspense was unreal! I didn't expect it to be such a rollercoaster ride!!

The Getaway Car by Leddy Harper takes you on an epic ride about second chances. A love story that will move you, and utterly destroy you. Right until the very end, there are twists and turns you least expect. Buckle in, it’s going to get bumpy.

The story begins with a young girl running from her past, and walks straight into tall, dark, and handsome Talon. He see’s a scared girl who he can’t walk away from. To bad this girl will be his downfall.

With one mistake.....
It will change both of their lives forever.

Years pass and Talon is a man on a mission. Maggie stole something of his, and he wants it back! By any means necessary.... Once these two are reunited, old feelings come rushing back, and hearts that were once broken start to beat again. And soon that bitter hate turns to love.

With an intense opening in the prologue, the emotions get going from the start. Maggie Abrams and Talon McNeil meet under unusual circumstances. Both with secrets and the need to getaway, they hop in his car for a road trip that takes some unexpected twists but also develops an intense connection neither one can deny. But there are always bumps in the road. And the navigation of those bumps takes them in a direction neither one can stop. Both Talon and Maggie are strong and compassionate characters and bring out the best in each other. The Getaway Car is a cleverly written romantic suspense. It’s sexy and emotional. It’s fast paced and a page turner. It’s a ride worth taking.

What a thrilling ride! The Getaway Car was not quite what I expected. It was so much better. I really enjoyed this story. So much so that I stayed up way later than I should because I couldn’t put it down. This story is a romance with some mystery and action. It is a stand alone novel.
The plot of this book was written well. Two characters meet by chance and end up on a surprise road trip. The only problem is they are both keeping some deadly secrets. I think the author did a great job of building this story. From the very beginning, I was trying to figure out the mysteries behind both characters. I was invested in both of these characters from the very beginning.
Speaking of the characters, Maggie and Talon are very endearing. Maggie is such a realistic character. She made some rash decisions that changed the course of her life. These decisions then lead her on a path that she couldn’t turn back from, even though she tried at times. Talon is also a wonderful character. He is a very self-less person who is always trying to help others. He has his own secrets he is keeping regarding decisions he has made in his life as well. These two were destined to crash into each other.
The heat in this book is there, but it is not the main element. These two have some steamy scenes, but they also have some really sweet scenes. I think the mystery element in this book enhances the heat in the book because it adds a layer of tension for the characters. This aspect of the book was written perfectly.
The pace of the book was steady. I enjoyed how the author broke the book up into parts so that the reader knew that things were being switched up. I really liked how there was a fast forward in the book. It added a layer into the book. The author wrote this book very well.
In conclusion, I loved this book. These characters were some of my favorite. Then you have all the plot twists and mystery in the book. Boy oh boy I didn’t expect that ending though. If you like romance books with some action and mystery, then give this book a try. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

WoW....this book surprised me in every possible way! Leddy Harper is a new author to me and I absolutely loved her writing and how she told this story.

"I didn't want to be better simply because you didn't throw yourself at me when we first met. It's because you looked at me like I was worth something. For some unknown reason, you trusted me. You gave me a chance to either prove Tony right, or prove everyone else right."

Oh Tallon....he has had a tough up-bringing, and despite his best efforts to stay on a straight path out of trouble, it seems to find him anywhere he goes. He has a big heart, is crazy loyal to those close to him, and will do anything to protect them. His protective nature is so genuine, that you can't help but fall in love with this guy who doesn't believe he is worthy of anything good.

"It was like I'd spent my whole life wishing he'd come save me. And when he finally showed up, he was hell-bent on making me suffer."

Maggie has grown up learning to fend for herself determined to get out of the small town that she has nothing but bad memories in. She is in the wrong place at the wrong time, and then stumbles upon Tallon. Their story is one of tenderness, deceit, love, doubt, and will hold you over the ledge and drag you back again in order to try and figure out how their tangled web began and where it will take them. I could not put this book down until I finished it!

This book was brilliantly written depicting the characters over different ages. Maggie's will to survive and own internal struggle with her family's demons will make you fall in love with her, and have you cheering for her every step of the way. She is strong, yet broken; beautiful, yet timid and shy at times. But most of all, she is a survivor. Tallon will make you swoon and want your own road trip with him. The suspense, drama and passion was a perfect balance for a fabulous read. Well done Leddy Harper...I'm officially a fan!

When I first bought THE GETAWAY CAR by Leddy Harper, I did not start reading right away. When I decided to start reading, I was surprised to find the book LOVE REROUTED. At first I thought I had bought the wrong book, but came to find out Leddy Harper had changed the title. Same book just with a different title. What ever title the book is under, after finishing, I really enjoyed the story.

Talon McNeil and Maggie Abrams were meant to meet on one fateful night. When Talon took one look at Maggie's bloodied face, he just knew he needed to save her. He was drowning in hopelessness and suffocating on isolation, because picking a girl up at a gas station and offering to drive her over a thousand miles away was downright reckless. They were strangers yet when Maggie's anxiety had begun to build. The only time it didn't affect her was when Talon was around. Could she really believe and depend he could save her.

They only really had two days together. But in that short amount of time, they connected on some level. It seemed to be on an intimate, personal level, except circumstances did not give them enough time to explore it. So they had something but not really sure what that something was. Since they first met, the first time he laid eyes on her, he had wanted to protect her and keep her safe. But then the unthinkable happened. She was gone. She'd stolen his car, his phone, and left him with nothing but a motel room and a nearly empty wallet. Her departure felt like a shotgun had gone off and obliterated his heart.

There are turns and twists in the story. Mystery and intrigue, and second chances. Surprises and more adventures in the getaway car. There must be some cosmic purpose for the two of them. They didn't have a clue what that might be, but they would see it through till the end.

The Getaway Car is about being given a chance at life without the stigma of living the same life you were born into. It’s a second chance story between two characters who were running away from past mistakes. With only the clothes on their back they drove off into the night hoping to escape their problems. Along the way, they form a bond, of comfort, trust, and acceptance.

I don’t know which names I prefer better: Mr. September or Brawny. I developed an instant liking to both characters and the thought at getting to know both on this short road trip had my interest piqued.

Maggie’s youth and innocence drew me in immediately. The way she looks at Talon as a protector with a clean slate was admirable.
Talon is all too familiar with addictions, so when the youthful innocence of Talon’s troubled past was forgiven by a man who believes in second chance. But when that man left this earth leaving Talon in charge of his own life he found himself lonely and confused at the prospect of living a life without his hero and biggest supporter.
When these two literally bump into each other it was fate speaking. Maggie was Talon’s salvation. The connection between them was seamless. The way they interacted was like second nature. Their backstories added an additional layer.

Trust was a huge component in this story. The instant they met, blind trust was easy to give, even with no background to form judgement. As circumstances changed and life altered their paths, trust was weighed based on motive and choices, at this point it had to be re-earned.

Leddy delivered an exciting, chilling, and emotional read. Delivered in three parts devoted solely to two main characters. It’s still lingering in my mind.

Before I dive into my thoughts, I wanted to first discuss Leddy Harper. I am a huge fan of her and here is the great thing about her: she will break your heart then piece it back together again…all in one book! To me that’s an important aspect that every author should have in some shape or form, to make the reader feel something. With Harper it’s not just romance or attraction, she puts true emotion into her writing and characters and I just love it.

Getaway Car is a story about two people running from things but falling hard for each other. Maggie is an eighteen year old trying to escape a bad situation and Talon is also running from a bad situation, put these two together and you have one complicated, messy attraction and love story. They only had a few days together but they both made huge impacts on each other’s lives which is another trope of romance books I love so much, time skips and jumps. I do find that when people are apart yet they can only think about is one person very romantic.

The romance and the relationship between Maggie and Talon was great but my absolute favorite part of Getaway Car was the constant suspense and guessing game of the twists and turns throughout the plot! I couldn’t put it down! With the magnetic chemistry of the couple and my curiousness I devoured Getaway Car very quickly! No spoilers but once you pick up this book and start reading you won’t be able to stop because you won’t be able to put the book down! Getaway Car was a fantastic read and will be on my list of my favorite 2018 reads!

He smelled really good!
Maggie is running. With only a backpack and no possessions, she's on the run. She walks into a gas station to get cleaned up and the entire course of her life changes.

Life has never been all that easy for Talon. But he tries to be better, do better. Not be the crap that people look at him and think that he is. And when a local mechanic takes him under his wing and gives him a job and a future, things get better. And then one night, while at the gas station he sees her...a young girl, all alone, blood and bruises on her face and in need of a friend. He needs someone too, because his own loss has left him bereft with nothing anchoring anymore.

It's all about being at the right place at the right time. She's running and he's willing to run with her. But both harbor too many secrets, it's doomed from the start.

This story is heart wrenching. It's a journey through real life and real struggle. It's about facing the consequences of our actions and living with the aftermath. But the struggle and the heartache is worth it, because in the end you find a forever love and a beautiful future.

I fell in love with these characters. This story had everything that makes a story great and consumes you while you read. Maggie was strong even when she felt weak. She kept living and doing the best she could even when her heart was broken. Talon protects what's his. He lost his way for a bit, but found his way back to what was important. So many twists along the way, secrets, and a connection I never saw coming.

The Getaway Car is an amazing ride. I'm in awe of Leddy Harper, how she is able to make each book so vastly different from her last, yet still as undeniably amazing. I was hooked on Talon and Maggie's story from the prologue. From the moment that they meet, Talon feels this amazing pull to protect Maggie, and I felt all of that. I felt every second of his pain, every second of his desire to protect her.

These strangers make such a lasting connection on one another, and my heart was broken when they were forcibly parted. Four years later, they cross paths again, but Talon is holding on to a lot of anger and bitterness, while Maggie has been clinging to the thread of hope that the connection they shared those two precious days wasn't all in her mind.

The journey that these two go on in finding their HEA isn't an easy one. They have A LOT of issues that they need to work through. Everything happens for a reason, right? The moment that Talon realizes that he was wrong about what he thought the reason was is a true light-bulb moment and brings this rough guy to his knees. And upon discovering what Maggie was so desperately trying to hide, Talon goes to heroic lengths to protect the only girl he's ever loved.

In the end, the Getaway Car isn't just the actual car that Maggie stole from Talon all those years ago. They way that these two broken characters save each other and get away from the demons of their past was so worth the ride. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

When Talon McNeil stops to help a girl who looks like she needs some help little did he know how much his life was about to change in two days. Maggie Abrams stole a piece of Talon’s heart but then she stole his car, his wallet and his phone.
Now four years later he may have a chance at reclaiming what he lost but how high will the price be?
This was such a great book with so many twists and things that I never saw coming at all!
My heart just broke for Talon and everything that happened from that one night. He never meant for certain things to happen and then when he met Maggie he knew he had a chance to help her, like he was unable to do for Jinx. I loved how he just dropped everything, knowing what it may cost him.
Maggie was in her own heap of trouble and I felt bad for what she got herself mixed up in as it was truly a mistake. She began to fall for Talon and truly wanted to protect him from the mess she was in and thought she was doing the right thing.
When Talon found Maggie again I totally understood why he was so mad and although I knew why she ran I was also curious what was going on in the meantime. I was glad when the two gradually began talking again and trying to put the pieces back together.
The twists were awesome and everything began to fall into place and I was totally shocked at a bunch of the revelations! I didn’t see so much of it coming and I loved that!
The ending was super awesome and made me so happy!!
I am looking forward to more from the author! - By Rebecca

This story really packed a punch I literally had to pull myself off of the floor it was that good. It is told in three parts. The characters Maggie and Talon I absolutely loved they are both on the run from something and when Talon first sees Maggie battered and bruised he knows he needs to save her so they take a little trip to Florida ending with Maggie leaving him with no car, and barely no money and Talon in a rage.

Things happened and now it's four years later and Talon still hates Maggie and is looking for her to get his car. He finds her and now he doesn't know what to believe was Maggie really whom he thought she was or was she a manipulative thief. So what do they do they go on another road trip to Florida to get Talon's car and on this trip things are brought to light and Talon finally finds out what really happened and finally knowing the truth does this finally help Talon release the grudge he has on Maggie.

There is also some suspense in this book and we find out whom Maggie was really frightened and running from and you understand why this person got away with these crimes for so long. This is my very first time reading this author and I picked up this story because of the blurb hoping that I would like it. This story has so many twists and turns it is like one of the best rollercoaster rides you have ever been on and you will not want to put this story down until you finish it.
