Yes, this could be a fun lesson. After my class tackles a few sources and see what the author was trying to do we move onto the famous Keep Calm Poster. This is planned out in class and the students finish it for homework. The mini-lesson leads you straight to the Keep Calm Task.
The lesson could be extended into two lessons if you want to explore propaganda in greater detail.

The five R's is a method used to break down and examine the historical significance of an event or person. Many historians have different variations of this method.
The five R's we will use are: Remembered, revealed, remarked, resonates and resulted.

This lesson features the letters written by Henry and can be used with or without the Pearson textbooks. It is useful for ALL exam boards but directly relates to 1.4 of Edexcel.
Pass - if you can identify and describe the Henry’s reasons from the sources
Succeed- if you can explain what the sources reveal about Henry’s pursuit of Anne.
Excel - if you can evaluate which sources would effectively support the opinion that Henry’s pursuit was out of love or another reason.

The ALT or Alternative lesson has a greater focus on the shifting attitudes and how it creates the fear of witches. There are sources to examine from textbooks. These files can be edited down so you can use just a few sources with your classes.
The regular lesson is very similar but uses original sources from the time. This can be edited down to make it easier for your class.

This competition often engages the students and once the game is taught it can be brought back without the resources as the students just "know" the game.
The reader must read, but they can read as little and as much as they like. At any point then can call out “Pass to .......”, so that another member of their team can continue reading. The aim for the team is to reach the predetermined stop point. When they reach that they must call out “Shoot” to score a goal.

Learning outcomes are to annotate, to form an opinion through annotation, and develop that opinion by using evidence.
Learning Outcomes (Success Criteria):
• Some students must be aware of the types of conditions, their response to it and begin to form a sentence which explains this.
• As above and should be supported through the use of a source or quotation. Some reference to the consequences, short or long term can be made.
• As above and this could be a supported opinion. This opinion is explained in the context of the period
It does what it says on the tin.

Students should study the event first.

This lesson covers the conditions within the factories and can be taught in one lesson (or perhaps two depending on progress and omission of slides). FREE elements available in the shop.

Success- if you can explain why the sources would change people’s viewpoints
