Billingsley #4

Tempting Tim

Rate this book
I never wanted the limelight. The only thing I wanted was Conley Logan.

When words failed to express my feelings for Conley, I relied on music instead. But our love song ended before it even began, before I'd even told her how I truly felt. As a result, I watched Conley leave hand-in-hand with my bandmate instead of me.

Not wanting the fight that would break up the band, I made a choice. I lived with it every day, knowing it was nobody's fault but my own. I've moved on. I'm content with my small-town life, running a bar. But now Conley is back, forcing me to face the music.

From the way I'm still tempted to make her mine, it's as if nothing has changed-but until she tells me why she's back, I'm not sure I can trust what's growing between us.

The only thing that has changed: I'm not letting her get away this time without a fight.

This was the first book in the series I've read and as soon I as read the last word - I went and bought the other three books in the series.

Small-town, Friends-to-Lovers = YES PLEASE!!!

This book had all the feels and the sexual tension between these two was through the roof! Conley is a strong heroine who's just trying to find her way and as her blinders from the past start to fall, she begins to see that the relationship she thought she had was all a lie and that the guy she should have fallen for was Tim all along.

Tim, I was with him. He had reasons to be gun shy with Conley. He's old feeling's become front and center all over again, but can he trust his heart again to the woman who broke it in the first place.

Once I started I couldn't put the book down! I can't wait to go back and read the stories of all his friends in Billingsley!

Book 4 in the Billingsley series and the first that I have read from this series and author. I really enjoyed this friends to lovers romance. Tim and Conley have been friends forever but after a huge falling out, they went their separate ways. Fast forward to years later and Conley is back in town. Will they be able to get back to how they were when they were school? Can it move into something more than friendship? Great read and I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Tempting Tim (Billingsley #4) by
Melissa Ellen

5 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Tempting Tim is the fourth book in the Billingsley series by author Melissa Ellen. It is written in dual POV, and it tells the story of Tim and Conley.

This book was AMAZING.

I read all of Melissa Ellens's book, from the very first one, and she just keeps growing and becomes better and better.

Billingsley series is one of my favorites. Although I prefer in general dark romance and dirty, Melissa's books are a breath of fresh air, sweet and funny, and slowly becoming hotter and hotter, like Texas heat, which makes me love it even more.

Tempting Tim can be read as a standalone, but I am being you, read the rest of the book too, they are lovely, beautiful and will help you love and understand more about the book, the characters and the world of Billingsley.

I want to move there and live there with those characters.

So, back to the book...
Tim was the forming and lead singer of a country band, now famous. He was in love with Conley since they were 15, but when he finally made his courage to make his move, his bandmate made his move on her.
Conley loved Tim back, but since he never made his move, actually, any move for that matter, she always thought Tim only wanted to be friends with her.

The band became famous, they were on tour constantly, but Tim couldn't take it anymore. He couldn't stand there and see her in another man's hands, so when the opportunity strikes, he left the band and comes back home to Billingsley.

After 20 years, Conley realizes that even if she has it all, she doesn't have anything in fact. She gave her all to one man. A man who doesn't deserve her doesn't love her, and the saddest part is that she doesn't love him either. She lost herself on the way.
Now she is back home, in Billingsley, wanting to rediscover herself, to start again, to live again. She lost so many years on nothing.

Obviously, when Conley and Tim meet again, even after this many years, spark fly, and the fire that was between them when they were 15, is now in full blast.

I loved Tim & Conley, I loved their back and forth game between them and how when they finally touched each other, they couldn't stay away. I loved that I got to see again the rest of the previous characters, Lottie and Tucker, which are my favorite couple. I loved to see Wes and how he was making fun of Tim, and Devin, his best friend.

So PLEASE, if you haven't already, read this series, READ IT NOW

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SERIES & BOOK

4.5 Stars

This was my first read by Melissa Ellen and it was fantastic! Being introduced to this amazing group of friends just makes me want to go and read their books that much more. And it goes without saying that Tim and Conley were exceptional—I loved them.

Tim and Conley have known each other since they were 15. Tim has always had a crush on her and when he finally gets the courage to tell her how he feels his bandmate swoops right in. So instead of telling Conley and not wanting to break up the band, Tim decides to keep quiet. He moves on, but those feelings for Conley don’t go away.

Conley thought she had it all. But through the years she started losing her old self. She now has started to realize that what she had wasn’t making her happy. She’s finally taking control of her life and trying to find her way back to the person she once was. And at the same time she begins to realize that Tim should’ve been the man she fell for all those years ago.

Tim and Conley were the absolute best. I loved their banter and their bickering had me laughing. Watching these two reconnect and become friends again and then lovers left me giddy. They were exactly what each other needed.

Tempting Tim is a small-town and friends-to-lovers romance packed with feels. I loved Tim and Conley, and their group of friends were just as amazing. I can’t wait to go back and read more of the Billingsley series.

When I read the book description of ‘Tempting Tim’ I knew this was a book I’d love to read. Even though this book is a part of a series, and I haven’t read anything by this author before, this book was supposed to read as a standalone so I dived right in.

‘Tempting Tim’ was right from the start an easy to read book that I got lost in right away. Somehow, I just didn’t need time to get into this story at all. Sure, the two main characters took some time to get to know. But it felt easy and I loved it. Conley and Tim where characters with a history. Throughout this read we slowly get to know their history more and more. But what becomes clear right away is that there is a lot of chemistry between these two.

The romance between Conley and Tim was just super fun to read. It was fun, it was easy and it was definitely swoon worthy. Conley moved back home after being with her Rockstar boyfriend for a very long time. She realized that her life and her feelings for her ex weren’t what she wanted out of life. And when she saw Tim, the guy she secretly wanted for a long time, she knew moving back home was the best decision.

Tim’s character was definitely my favorite. He was hardworking, kind, handsome and always kept his feelings for Conley a secret for everyone. At least that’s what he thought. I just loved reading about Tim, and I couldn’t get enough of him. I also really loved him owning a bar. I don’t know why, but I just always loved the idea of owning my own bar or lunchroom. And it fitted this story perfectly.

The only thing that didn’t really work for me was the moment that Conley and Tim got together. I felt like this came way to sudden. One moment they are fighting their feelings, being shy with each other even, and not wanting to risk their job and friendship and the next they are hooking up. It’s not that I didn’t like that, but I just thought it came rather sudden. I honestly thought Tim was about to wake up and realize it was just a dream.

Like I said before, this book is part of a series, but it can be read as a standalone. I did, and I never felt like I was missing stuff. The only thing it did was making me want to read the other books in the series too.

‘Tempting Tim’ was definitely a fun read I really enjoyed.

4 star Review of Tempting Tim (Billingsley #4) by Melissa Ellen

Recently I have found myself gravitating to small town romances, add in that this is a friends to lovers story and it was a win/win for me. Melissa Ellen is a new to me author and I am surprised I have not come across her before.

This is Conley and Tim’s story and it was an entertaining love story about regrets, getting a second chance and taking a leap of faith. Although the fourth book in the series, I had no trouble reading it. However, when time permits I will be looking at the other books in the series.

The chemistry between Conley and Tim is intense and you could almost feel the tension in the air. Conley chose the wrong guy years ago and Tim let her go rather than course a fall out. Now she is back, working in Tim’s bar. The question is although Tim still has deep feelings for her, can he take a chance that she won’t break his heart again?

Conley was a strong, at times naive woman but I overall I liked her and I really felt for Tim as he struggled with his feelings. Their road to a HEA will be bumpy but it may well be worth it in the end.

Tim and Conley had a secret crush on each other since they were 15 years old but they never told each other. He sat back and watched his friend sweep her off her feet. Fast forward 16 years and she returns and Tim realizes he still has feelings for her and her feelings for him are still there. There were so many things and Tim tried really hard to not fall for her. Conley didn’t know what to think anymore and she was tired of putting off what she wanted for others. His friends were rooting for him and these two couldn’t hide their feelings anymore. But still there was one person trying to mess things up but they finally got their act together. Their ending was funny and cute and so them.

Conley and Tim. Two best friends that never admitted their feeling and drifted apart as Conley went for his band mate. Years later, these two reconnect back where they started.

“I’ve been in love with you since I was fifteen, Conley Logan. And I promise you that will never change.”

This was my first book from this author. I really enjoyed this small town romance. It was a super quick and fun read. I actually couldn’t put the book down. Got sucked in to the small town drama and I love good small town drama.

This happens to be the first book I've read in this series along with the author.

I couldn't help but to get drawn in by the small town story and well the characters them self.

It's hard to put into words what this story is beyond the book blurb because really you want to read this one and well along as the others from this series. It can be read as a stand alone but for the other characters than our main two it's nice to have a bit of background too.

I can say I'm hooked and wanting more lol

Tempting Tim had everything! Small town, friends to lovers, rock star romance and it was a great read. Tim and Conley were once close friends and after a falling out and many years Conley finds herself back in her hometown and back in Tim's life. I enjoyed reading about these two and them learning to not be scared to go after what you want in life!

Is there anything hotter than a handsome romantic? Yep! A handsome romantic rockstar who writes loves songs about his high school crush!

Tim has always been in love with Conley. It’s what made him walk away from the band. He couldn’t stand watching her with his band mate any longer.

Twenty years later and Conley’s back home in Billingsley but she doesn’t bring Bobby with her. Tim agrees to give Conley a job at his bar. After all he let her go a long time ago. He’s not in love with her anymore. Famous. Last. Words.

This is an ARC review. All opinions are solely my own.

Tempting Tim by Melissa Ellen is book 4 of the Billingsley series. This book can be read as a stand alone but there is some character cross over. It should not detract from the story of this book.

Tim and Conley have been friends since they were children. Conley returns to their hometown and their chemistry grows. There are a few bumps in the road, some from outsiders and some from each other. But I think what is evident is that they had the foundation from the start.

This was a quick read that did not skip on any content.

I really liked this book and will definitely keep Melissa Ellen on my radar for future reads and listens.

Title: Tempting Tim
Author: Melissa Ellen
Genre: Small Town Romance
My Rating: 4 second chance at love Stars!
Swooning Level: So much angst, so little time!

”Nothing will ever be as easy as you and me.”

Stuck in a relationship where she’s been forced to put her dreams on hold, Conley Logan picks up and moves back home to start afresh. There, in her small Texas hometown, Conley is comforted with the dreams & love she had left behind years ago. Tim was her high school crush and the one person she has not forgotten about and neither has he. Both had pushed feelings aside for long enough and now that Conley is back home, Tim is internally battling whether to pursue the woman he’s loved all these years or let her go again.

“If the price I paid for her to be mine was barely being able to breathe, I’d never take another breath.”

Tempting Tim is second chance romance at its best! Filled with angst and all those “will they, won’t they” moments that leave you hanging, Ellen has created a couple that I truly was invested in...both individually & collectively. We don’t just see two characters jumping to falling in love, we see them evolve and have the courage to seek out who they are on their own. In Conley’s previous relationship, she had lost sight of who she was and had stopped living to pursue her dreams, so I’m thankful that the author gave our heroine a storyline that was truly her own! And don’t get me started on Tim! *round of applause* Tim is the kind of man bookish boyfriends are made of. His story was well told and I loved reading from his perspective. His compassion and passion for Conley was on fire and even more than that, we see his character evolve as well and he’s given the chance to live his dreams that were long forgotten.

This is my first time reading a work from this author but certainly not my last! I give Tempting Tim a very solid 4/5 stars! If you love a heartfelt, second chance romance with a whole lotta steam, then you will love Tim + Conley’s story in Tempting Tim!

Tempting Tim is the fourth book in the Billingsley series, but can be read as a a complete standalone!

Conley's back in town for unnamed reasons, and she needs a job. Thank God her friends sneakily set her up with a bartending job. Or maybe not, considering the owner of the bar is her former best friend, Tim, who seems to despise her now. Oops.

It seems Tim had long held feelings for his friend, but when Bobby swooped in, he stepped back and not only let him have the girl, but their band, too. Now Conley's back in town, without Bobby, and Tim's having a hard time controlling those still there feelings. He knows he can't be with an employee, especially one who isn't single, so shutting her out is the way it will have to be between them. Right?

Or wrong, because Conley is intent on him, and a man can only resist for so long when his one is right in front of him offering herself up. Will these two ever get past the obstacles in their path or are they doomed to the same end they had before when he walked away?

I wanted to love this story, but it just didn't work for me. The two of them danced around each other until almost the very end, it was about 70%, before they even got together. Then right away one or the other pushed the other away, and kept doing so clear until the end. I didn't get enough time of them actually being a couple, and I did not particularly like Conley. Tim was OK, but he wasn't a standout either. So nothing horribly wrong, but nothing very appealing either.

Tempting Tim is the first book from this author I have read but definitely not my last book from her. Whilst this is the fourth book, you can definitely read this book without reading the other ones

Conley has always counted on someone for everything. However she come crawling home realising her life isn’t perfect like she wanted it to be.

Back into the life of Tim

Tim is sweet, he wanted only one thing and gave up his band and the girl to smooth things over. So when Conley walks back in and makes him feel like a teenager again. There is going to be some issues and you can see them fast.

However underneath the tension there is a history that makes them want to forget everything and throw caution to the wind. There is a chemistry between these two that makes you want to kiss and live in the moment.

Slowly as the romance develops through their interactions you can see Ellen’s talents as author. The comradeship and the easy going nature is hard to nail and Ellen does it perfectly. She brings Conley into the series seamlessly despite having being out of the picture for a while. It a make sense given how Tim and her grew up and together experience life as teenagers dealing with the emotions and not able to put words together.

It does soften the blow of them getting together all of sudden without a second glance and given the lead up to this point. Their story isn’t smooth sailing and it takes some sweet talking and this the beauty of the story

The small town is full of character and I loved the secondary characters that help with Tim and Conley reconnect and heal from their mistakes. Tim’s and Conley’s love story maybe years in the making but the timing was perfect and their story will leave you with a smile on face. As who doesn’t like a swoony romance that is built on years of regrets and angst.

Second chances are my Kryptonite. When done right, they leave me weak in the knees and absolutely breathless. And even though both of our leading couple made me badly want to smack some sense into their thick skulls, this was a second chance romance done very right. Tim is everything my best book boyfriend fantasies are made of. He has all that sweet southern-boy charm paired with a heart that’s just too big for his body. (That’s not even counting that he’s a bartender/owner and one-time rock star.) I don’t think he got enough credit for everything he did to keep the peace. Conley is nothing like any preacher’s daughter I’ve read to this point. She’s not the wild child rebelling against everything and she’s not a prissy princess bound by the rules of the church. Though, she does have a bit of the martyred saint about her. She’s a modern woman who I think a lot of us can relate to: she’d invested way too much of her heart and time into a relationship that’s just not serving her anymore. The push-me/pull-you dynamic between Tim and Conley had me wanting to rip my hair out in frustration at ever seeing them get it right, but I adored every angsty drama-filled moment of their story. I don’t know if the author has more of their stories to tell, but I’ve fallen in love with this town full of nosy busybodies and I can’t wait for our next trip back to Billingsley.

Melissa Ellen, where have you been hiding?

More than anything I love discovering authors that I instantly connect with, where I know after just a couple of pages, that their writing and story is exactly the kind I enjoy reading. This is the case with Melissa Ellen. I love friends to lovers romance with the small town feel to it and Tempting Tim was exactly this. What a great story with lots of feels!

Prior to reading Tempting Tim, I had to no idea this was book four, so I've gone back to start at the beginning. There's such a quaintness to the town of Billingsley, and it's a place you feel at home. Tim and Conley are two characters that you bond with right from the start. And being new to the series, you quickly discover they've shared a past. You want to know what happens with them, in fact, you desperately flip pages because the story is just that good. The drama between them is addicting.

Sweet with lots of feels, Tempting Tim was a real delight to read. The story was engaging, the writing was easy to follow and you felt as though you were right there with the gang. Five stars from start to finish!!

Revelations of the heart and mind
Tempting Tim (Billingsley Series Book 4) by Melissa Ellen is a wonderfully well written book with tons of feels and plenty of heat. The characters are awesome and this author’s writing is a style I really enjoy. In fact, after this book, I am intrigued to read her other books in the series and all the others as well.
The plot of Tempting Tim is as engaging and captivating as the characters themselves. Conley and Tim have history and as these two get to know one another, the tension that had always been smoldering flares into something undeniable, sweet, real and deep. Their story will keep you on the edge of your emotional seat and rooting for them to get to the heart of their matter.
Overall, a very well written book with characters that pulled me in and held me captive to their long overdue and much deserved HEA. Totally sweet and so very fitting.
I read an ARC of this book from Hidden Gems and voluntarily share my review.

A slow burn romance with emotion:
Tim has loved Conley from the sidelines for years but has tried to move on with his life. When Conley moves back to their hometown and starts working in his bar, it gets exceedingly more difficult for each of them to keep denying their feelings. However he has a strict no fraternizing policy and it takes a while for these two to be honest with each other. I enjoyed seeing Conley finally take ownership of her feelings and future.
I liked all of the camaraderie and fun banter between this tight knit group of friends. This was book 4 in the Billingsley series but it can definitely be read as a standalone. I hadn't read the previous books and found I had no difficulty following along, however now I want to go back and catch up on the stories that I missed.

Tim and Conley have known each other since they were 15 years old, and he's pretty much harbored a secret crush on her this whole time, but since he can't get the courage up to tell her, one of his bandmates gets her instead. So, he doesn't tell her, instead keeping the peace by suffering in silence, and moves on. Conley has finally figured out that she's lost herself somewhere, and now it's time for her to take control of her life. She also figures out that Tim should have been her person so long ago. These two drove me crazy quite a bit because of all the push & pull which had me ready to pull my hair out to be honest. That's not to say that I didn't love them together, because the witty banter was highly entertaining, plus all the great friends they had starring as the secondaries had me laughing a time or two. So, will these two finally get their happily ever after?! You'll have to hit those one click buttons to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

This is my first time reading author Melissa Ellen - and it will definitely not be my last.

I truly enjoyed how the story immediately drew me in and immersed me in this small Texas town. The characters were compelling and I felt the heartbreak, hope, anger, confusion, and happiness felt by both Tim and Conley.

I liked how they both had to finally realize that in order to embrace their future they had to first let go of the past.

Bobby was a douche canoe. But, I DO want to know what his agent said to him over the phone that had him so upset. I have my guesses, but nothing else was ever mentioned about it. Also, did Tim continue to pursue his interest outside of the bar? It felt as though that part of the story line was left hanging.

Overall, I enjoyed the close long-term friendships portrayed and the closeness that both main characters had with their families. I highly recommend this book!

Tempting Tim is the first book I’ve read by Melissa Ellen. I loved her writing. The story was so good. Former best friends that lost touch. Of course there are more circumstances around that.

These two were best friends from high school. Tim harbored the biggest crush on Conley. But they never so much as hooked up. Now many years later, she’s back in their small Texas town of Billingsley.

From Tim’s cold shoulder to her ex still bothering her, Conley was having a rough start when she moved back home. She quickly became reacquainted with people from high school, of courses these are also Tim’s friends.
Conley and Tim May not have had the easiest of starts but they sure make a cute couple. Those feels from the past always have a way of breaking through. I love small town romances and this one was so good!!

I wasn’t sure what to expect with this story especially as it is my first read from Melissa Ellen, however I really did enjoy this read. I found myself lost in this gook and Tim/Conley were entertaining characters.

For a first read I found myself loving Tim so much. Conley took longer to realise the depth of her feelings and that Tim was the person she should have been with all that time. They are stubborn characters and no lie I was so frustrated at times but that frustration honestly just kept me reading. It kept me hooked into the story and I could not and I did refuse to do anything until I had finished it. This doesn’t happen often when I’m reading a new to me author so this is a testament to how much I enjoyed this read.

I am looking forward to going back to the previous books and catching up!

I loved this one. This book is the 4th in this series and I can only imagine what the other 3 books are like if this one was this good. There is Conley, who was the hometown girl that left to go on the road with her then boyfriend Bobby who is the lead singer in a band. After many years Conley moves back home and runs into old friends from school and the "one" who is the owner of the local bar, Tim. This book had everything: lost loves, secrets, stalking ex-boyfriend who can't take that the relationship is over, standing up for youself. This one had me right from the beginning and had me up to the end. Way to go!!!!

Wow. This book was awesome!! It is the 1st book I have read from this author, and definitely not the last, I have already bought the first 3 books in this series and can't wait to read them.
Although this is the 4th book, I was able to follow the book and not feel lost.
Tim and Conley were both great and the depth of their emotions were real and I found myself routing for them to open their hearts and bring down their walls. Like in real life, communication is a very important aspect in any relationship, but so is the fear of not being heard, Conley had already faced a relationship where she was always put 2nd, and Tim had watched the teen/women he loved choose his friend.
Can they learn to trust eachother and find their HEA?
I highly recommend this author!!

I received a free copy of this from the author and am giving my honest review

Sweet Second Chance Romance

Tim and Conley had been friends since they were15 and neither of them let their true feelings known. About the time that he was finally going to let Conley know how he felt Tim's band mate moved in on her and they hit the road.

Now Conley is back to their small town working in Tim's bar. Will this now be the time for these two? This was a sweet romance that gave me all the feels.
