A Tribute to Michael Been (Live / Deluxe) [feat. Robert Levon Been]

Starting in the '80s, Michael Been was the lead singer and bassist for The Call, a powerful California rock ’n’ roll band that initially released seven albums in an eight-year stretch; most found a home on college radio, and a few found their way to MTV and commercial radio outlets. His son Robert Levon Been is a member of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. After The Call officially called it quits following their final live album in 2000, Michael worked as BRMC’s sound engineer until 2010, when he died backstage at a festival in Belgium with his son’s band. In tribute to his late father, son Robert assembled the remaining members of The Call and recorded several concerts with them playing together in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Robert is a more atmospheric singer, and the band respond by pulling back on the driving guitar line and emphasizing the keyboards on such key tracks as “The Walls Came Down” and “Uncovered,” which complete the album's standard version. The deluxe edition adds five bonus tracks, including the 1990 single “What’s Happened to You.”
