Fantastic Beginning to a New Series
Mistakes made from a young age with adult consequences to the mistakes that they are both trying to rectify now made this a book I couldn’t put down. This book is oozing with drama, angst and twists and turns that made this a one sit read for me. From the very first page until the very last this book captivated me and I just couldn’t get enough.
Since reading Ms. Suzanne’s first book in her Vegas Aces Series until Rookie Mistake, I’ve become a sports romance lover especially when it comes to her work. Tristan’s series is one I have been looking forward to and I wasn’t disappointed in the least. The only downside is that I need the next book in this series NOW!!!

Prepare to fall head over heels for Tristan Higgins, if you haven't already. He's the wide receiver and a gorgeous addition to the team that we met in the very first Vegas Aces book. He's unlucky in love and very much stuck with the most wicked, soulless woman on the planet after one drunken night sealed his fate with the wife from hell. Tristan in still in love with his high school sweetheart- Tessa, but she left him without a word, started a new life without him and it kills him that he still doesn't know why.
Tessa has lived a lie for years after making a huge mistake that haunts her even now. It's been her cross to bear, but the boy she loved grew up, got married and has the career he always dreamed of. Maybe it's time she admits defeat and moves on too, but that's easier said than done.

They have no idea what she can do to them!!
I love the characters and stories this author writes- they never fail to surprise me, tear my poor heart out and delight me as she makes it all better in the end. I'd take a ride her crazy train anywhere!!
Hidden Mistake is the next book in this 5 book series and I can't wait to see what happens next to this star crossed couple.

I’ve read the first three books in the Vegas Aces: The Wide Receiver Series. Until I’ve completed the entire series of five books, I'm only going to post star ratings for each book. After I’ve finished “Favorite Mistake,” the final book, I’ll post a full review covering the entire series.
This series must be read in order and follows the relationship between Tristan and Tessa that began when they were just twelve-year-old kids -- now in their mid-twenties.
"No Mistake", book 4 will be released on November 3, 2022 and "Favorite Mistake", book 5 will end the series with its release on November 17, 2022. (Available on Kindle Unlimited)

I received and ARC of "Rookie Mistake" and let me just say that this series is going to be EVERYTHING! Lisa Suzanne may have out dobe herself with this one. This series STARTS with high school sweethearts, funerals, lies, family secrets, steamy office debauchery, and that is just from Tessa. Tristan has his own problems mainly in the form that is Savanah, yep you guessed it the evil ex of Luke Daltons, she got her talons in Tristan and wont let go in true Savanah fashion. Can Tristan get away from Savanah long enough to straighten out the past, present and future with Tessa or will it all go up in flames no one survives?

I was super curious about Tristan and why he would marry that trash, and it was honestly so sad to learn the reasons why. Savannah is one of the worst characters I’ve ever read about. She never stops ruining people’s lives. She just cares about herself and does what she wants, no matter what she has to do to get it. It’s so maddening and frustrating. I really hope Tristan finally gets rid of her for good. She’s had enough clout in this universe. Enough is enough. I can’t wait to see her go down lol.
I enjoyed learning about Tristan, though. The moments we got from his and Tessa’s past were my favorite. They have had a journey but it’s these kinds of pasts that make their second chance all the more special. I’m so excited to see that come to fruition. Even though I know damn well there will be lots of drama and hardships on their way still.
I feel really bad for all Tessa went through in her past but also everything that went down now with her family. What a shock. Her father was a damn hypocrite and now she’s in bed with someone who is just like him, and I really didn’t get why she let it happen. At this point, I’m not a fan of her character, she’s naïve still and lets herself be treated like trash while knowing that’s what’s happening. I really disliked that part of the story. Cam was awful from the very start, and I have a feeling he’s gonna mess things up down the line.
I’m excited to see what happens next but I’m also very apprehensive about it all. With these two, I don’t really know where things are going. This first book was not a great start for me. I didn’t like how we basically got to see them create two separate messed-up stories and barely got to see them together except for one instant. But anyway, it’s so clear these two were made for each other, and no matter what has happened and what/who is on their way, that they’re meant to be together. They still love each other as much as they did all those years ago, and I for one I’m desperate to see them reconnect and have the long-waited talk they need to have. There’s a very big chance it will all happen in the next installment, but with Lisa who knows?!

Tristan and Tessa's story is off with the bang! I love how the majority of the backstory overlaps with Ben and Kaylee's story, so the "present" isn't too far after Ben and Kaylee's HEA. Savannah is up to her old tricks, keeping Tristan tied to her, but Tristan's heart has always belonged to Tessa. And let me tell ya it's not one-sided.
Childhood best friends and high school sweethearts, Tristan and Tessa had the kind of relationship most people dream about. But one fateful day tore them apart, and Tristan was left questioning everything about their relationship and what he knew about Tessa. They both move on because they think the other has.... but a tragedy brings them back together, just for a brief moment. You could feel the hurt, the anguish, the questions, the love. Book one in the new Vegas Aces: Wide Receiver Series and what a fantastic start and honestly if the rest of this series is as good as book one, Lisa Suzanne will have another hit series on her hands. This is Tessa Taylor and wide receiver Tristen Higgins story. Trusten is the third player from the Vegas Aces and we know a bit about him, mainly through his wife Savannah who was determined to marry an NFL star but now it’s time to really get to know him.
Tristen is regretting his marriage to Savannah, in fact he has served her with divorce papers (She just won’t sign them), his life is complicated but when he bumps into Tessa the girl he grew up with life is about to explode …..

This is the beginning of another great football series. There are a few characters from the first series of the Vegas Aces in this story. This is another book that you can’t put down once you start reading it. I was so heartbroken by what happened to Tessa and Tristen when they were in high school. For Tessa’s father being a pastor, he sure showed no empathy or caring for his own daughter. Even her mother couldn’t get through to him. Now seven years later Tristan and Tessa live in their own different misery. Tristan is still married to Savannah who is a wicked woman trying to do everything to make Tristan’s life unbearable. He still hasn’t gotten over Tessa. Poor Tessa is living her miserable life in Chicago as a nurse and has feelings for an older doctor in the practice where she works. I had no idea why she would let another man treat her the way he did. She still thinks of Tristan and what could be. They both have something tragic in their lives that we have to wait until the next book to see what happens with that. As we all know Ms. Suzanne is the queen of cliff hangers! I am so looking forward to the next book. I strongly encourage you to read this book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

The start of Tristian and Tessa’s story already has me on an emotional rollercoaster!
I feel for Tristian when it comes to Savannah, I can’t help but shout at him to just do whatever needs to do to leave the horrible woman that she is. You can feel how unhappy he is when it comes to her. Tessa…I love her and I feel for her, too. She’s been through so much and so much that she really hasn’t shared with anyone.
Despite being apart for the last seven years there is still a connection between Tristian and Tessa. There is a lot of history there and with how everything ended between them they never lost their feelings for each other.
I am DYING to see where things go between these two, especially with how everything played out in this book.
Rookie Mistake is book one in the series, so it does end on a cliffhanger!

We finally are getting Tristan’s Story. The first book in the Wide Receiver series, but the third player featured from the Vegas Aces football team.
I had a hard time putting down this book, as with just about every book by this author. Tristen and Tessa’s stories just have me hooked. We know bits of Tristen’s story due to the previous shenanigans of his wife. And Savannah is just special (add in eyeroll). Tessa’s story is not easy as well; my heart hurts for the decisions that we made for her. She and Tristan grew up next door to each other. Both have made some bad decisions recently.
But now it is seven years later, and the two have returned to each other’s orbits, I am ready for Hidden Mistake.

This is the 1st in a new series, and this is Tristan and Tessa’s journey. These two fell in love in high school until Tessa’s father tore them apart. Tessa received a call from her mom which has her heading back to the small town her father forced her out of 7-years previously, and she know that she will be crossing paths with Tristan again. Tristan is the wide received in his team, and he is married to a horrid woman who makes his life a living hell, and Tessa has made some decision which she is now dealing with alone. I cannot wait to read the 2nd book as I need the answers to so many questions. This is a well written story which has heartbreak, secrets, 2nd chances, regrets, challenges, family, emotions, and love, which leads to a compelling page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Just when I thought I had a favorite couple from the Vegas Aces series in Ben and Kaylee.......Lisa Suzanne has to go and give us Tristan's story - and we don't even have much interaction between him and Tessa. But I am already head over heels in LOVE with these two! There's just something about these characters, and Lisa hasn't even fully explored what I'm sure will explosive chemistry between them. Can't wait to see how things develop, now that both of them are back in their hometown - and are next door to each other after all these years of separation. The feelings between them never went away, but with his evil wife Savannah still causing problems, this next book I'm sure will be filled with plenty of angst and drama.......and I'm HERE for it!

Off to a great start on the newest Vegas Ace! Rookie Mistake is the first book in the story of Tristan and Tessa and I’m all in! These two are first loves who were torn apart by Tessa’s evil father. Tristan has no idea what happened and Tessa has a big secret. Now seven years later they’ve both moved on but can’t stop thinking of each other and boy have they both made some mistakes in love. Tessa and Dr Dreamy who turns out to be Dr DoucheBag and Tristan with Savannah don’t even get me started on her holy geez she’s evil and I hate her even more now than in Luke’s story. Now they’ve wound up back in the same town. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Tessa and Tristan high school sweethearts/neighbors torn apart by her father senior year. Tristan never knew why. She’s living in Chicago working as a nurse. Tristan is still married to the snake savanna, he’s trying to get out but she keeps blackmailing him. She’s drugged him and with as much as she knows, probably has EVERYTHING bugged. Tessa’s father dies so she goes home for the funeral for her mother. Tristan flies in but only for couple hours before he has to get back for work. They only get couple minutes. Tessa finds out some secrets about dear old dad. Then the dr she started meeting up with has secrets too. Now she has a secret and decides to go home to mom. Tristan gets bad news and decides to go home in the off season.
Alway hate the cliffhangers but can’t wait for the next 4 books and all the drama that Lisa Suzanne always comes up with just so the couples get their HEA.

Tristan Higgins got my attention when he was first introduced in the original Vegas Aces Series and this first book did not disappoint!
There is not a lot of interaction between our main characters in this first book but the build up has me dying for the second!! I loved getting to see the side of Tristan figuring out what he likes about sex. We usually get experienced male leads that seeing one who is branching out from what he normally does and figuring out what he likes outside of the norm is so interesting. Tessa has been through it and the girl deserves her happy ending that she should have gotten 7 years ago. I can't wait for the 2nd book and that cliff hanger is why I wait to usually binge all 5!!

We're off to a good start with this series. I can't wait to read how Tessa and Tristan will overcome their shared history, the hurt that is still so very much there for both of them. How will Tristan get rid of the evil Savannah? How will Tessa and him reconcile? Can't wait for the next book !

Rookie Mistake
The boy next door and the pastor’s daughter. They met when she moved next door to Tristan in seventh grade. They had a perfect storybook beginning until Tessa got pregnant at 17. Her father made her move away to Chicago to her aunt’s home cutting off all contact. For the both of them it was devastating, their first kiss, their first love their first everything – you don’t forget.
Fast forward seven years, Tessa is now a pediatric nurse, a good one. She is still thinking about her childhood sweetheart. She has not had a date or sex in a long time. She needs to move on. It’s football season and the Vegas Aces are back! Vegas Aces: Rookie Mistake by Lisa Suzanne is the next installment in the Vegas Aces series, one of my all-time favorite series! You will understand a lot more about the characters if you have read the other books in the Vegas Aces series before you tackle Rookie Mistake. Tristan Higgins is the wide receiver that we have gotten to know throughout the Vegas Aces series, you know, the one married to the gal everyone loves to hate, Savannah. Get ready for an emotional story that leaves you clamoring for the next installment.
Tristan and Tessa were high school sweethearts, but circumstances ripped them from each other just before graduation. Through seven years, they have both been held back by what happened in high school and it’s time to reconnect and get some answers. Soooo much has happened to both of them – Tristan is married to the Devil Incarnate, Tessa thinks she wants a romance with a co-worker, plus so much more that I don’t want to spoil, but when they see each other briefly, they know the old feelings are still there.
I love how this book tells the back story, along with events from the present day that I know will have a big effect on the rest of the series and uses a dual point of view. We take a look into the private lives of professional athletes and celebrities, explore a workplace romance, touch on a little BDSM, experience loss and betrayal, all while we fall in love with our next player and his heroine! As I have come to expect from Lisa Suzanne, the story grabs you and won’t let you go. This story ends in a cliffhanger, but all will be wrapped up when the series wraps up at the end of the 5th book.

Rookie Mistake is book 1 of the New Vegas Aces series by Lisa Suzanne. This is a true series, where you have to read them in order and there are cliffhangers. I haven’t gotten a chance to read anything else from this author, so I went in thinking I was going to get another fluffy Football romance. WHEN WILL I EVER LEARN NOT TO EXPECT ANYTHING?? There was sooooo much substance to this book.
Tristan was heartbroken when his high school sweetheart and only girl he ever loved was sent away by her parents at age 17. She wasn’t able to give him so much as a goodbye before she was gone from his life. He went on to make a name for himself as a star wide receiver for the Vegas Aces. He is in a very unhappy marriage where he is being blackmailed into continuing to put on a facade of being in a loving relationship with his wife. All the while, he can’t stop thinking of his first love, Tessa, who is living her own life in Chicago. When her father dies, Tristan shows up to the funeral, seeing her for the first time in years. The connection is still there, but because they’ve moved on and both seem to be in happy relationships (at least that’s what it LOOKS like from the outside), they don’t make any moves to rekindle their past feelings. But this is a soulmate situation, so I just knowwww it’s about to get SO GOOD. 😍
Both characters are dealing with some very serious issues and learning more about who they are and what they want in their lives. I can already tell you that Tristan is going to be a TOP TIER book boyfriend. We haven’t even dug into the bulk of this story and he’s already had me crying on multiple occasions. He’s hot and sweet and protective and *sigh*…

Tristan Higgins the wide receiver for the Vegas Aces is here. Tristan has everything he could possibly want except the one that got away. Rookie Mistake is Tristan’s story in the Vegas Aces series and we finally learn about his back story with his childhood sweetheart. Torn apart by a secret, both Tessa and Tristan have struggled to move on with their lives. Both still feel a longing and connection to the other even though it has been seven years since they have seen each other.
“She took so much more than just a piece of me with her, and the only time I feel like I have It back is when I dream of the time we shared.”
I loved learning about both characters and how their breakup had informed their choices. It was obvious how much these two loved each other and you could feel that love and anguish and pain through the pages. They both had made mistakes in order to cope with their pain and to try to move on, but it had backfired on them. They were unable to ever truly put the other out of their mind.
“It’s more than a shared history. It’s two halves of the same soul reconnecting for the first time since they were ripped apart, and something tells me it would all still be there for us if we could just have a second to figure it out.”
When they finally see each other again, you can instantly feel the connection and I cannot wait to see how it develops. TRISTAN HIGGINS IS GETTING HIS BOOKS!!!
Just like the other Vegas Aces series by Lisa Suzanne, Rookie's Mistake is book 1 of a 5 book series which means the dreaded cliffhangers... but don't worry each book of the series usually releases within a couple weeks of the previous book- so while cliffhangers drive me crazy I've been hooked on the craziness that circles these football players and will dive into them each and every time.
I've been hoping for Tristan to get his story told since he went and married the she-devil Savannah back in Luke Dalton's story- the original Vegas Aces. Now it's here and this poor man is still married to the crazy woman but his heart still lies with Tessa, his high school sweetheart.
I was a little surprised with this first book- I think it's the first time that the two main characters really did not spend time together other than a quick passing moment. There is a lot of reminiscing of their time together, their love and how all these years later those feelings are still there- which was really sweet. Tessa has big secrets and more are revealed to her over the course of this book setting up for Savannah to have a lot to keep holding over Tristan keeping him under her thumb just like she wants. And shockingly I think that the heat and spice packed into this first book might be the hottest of the Vegas Aces especially considering how little Tristan and Tessa interacted.
All that is about to change when book 2 hits and the girl/boy next door is actually there again and I cannot wait!!

Rookie Mistake follows Tristan, the rookie wide receiver for the Vegas Aces, and Tessa, his childhood love who seems to be harboring a bit of secret (although everyone seems to be having secrets). She left one night 7 years prior and they had not seen each other since, until an unexpected incident brings them back together. They quickly realize that the feelings toward each other haven’t faded entirely, even though they seem to live worlds apart.
I’ve inhaled all of the Vegas Aces books but Lisa just keeps throwing us for a loop. There were several things I didn’t see coming in this one, including some sweet moments and some sexy ones. I think this quote perfectly captures the heart and soul of this book. In this book we begin to find out about Tristan and Tessa's backstory. How they met, fell in love and were ultimately ripped apart by unforeseen circumstances that have affected their lives to this date. I like how this book starts off in the present day and is told from both Tristan and Tessa's POV. We get to see how both characters lives are now and how the events of the past affect them both differently. Their backstory is both beautiful and tragic and I found this book to be much more emotional than the previous books in the series. I knew Tristan's story was going to hit differently, this guy has been through so much and he is living through a nightmare with his current situation and I'm so invested in him getting his HEA. Book one in this new series explores Tristan and Tessa's lives since they last saw each other at seventeen years old. A lot has happened since then and a lot has also stayed the same. Throughout this book, they only see each other twice (both times very briefly) but it is clear that their story is not over and the heart wants what the heart wants. I cannot wait to read book two and see what is in store for Tristan and Tessa!! I think their story is going to take me on an emotional rollercoaster and I am so here for it!!!!
