The building, which was last upgraded in 1935, was selected for modernization into a high-performance green building through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for Phase 1 funding. The design included open-spaced office plans and smart building technologies. As part of the new construction, atriums in the courtyards were enclosed, the curtain wall infill expansions added 134,000 SF for a total 858,000 SF.
