Men's And Women's Cross Country Releases 2014 Schedule

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men's and women's cross country teams announced its 2014 schedule on Wednesday. The squads will compete in eight meets.

Last season, both teams finished second at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships and 11th at the NCAA Atlantic Regional.

The first meet of the season is the Fordham Fiasco/Ed Joyce Memorial at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, NY on September 6. The women run at 10 a.m. and the men follow at 10:30 a.m. On September 13, the teams travel to White Clay Creek State Park in Newark, DE for the Delaware Invitational. The women run at 10 a.m. and the men at 10:45 a.m. The Profs end the month of September with the Purple Valley Classic at Mt. Greylock High School in Williamstown, MA. The men get underway at 12:15 p.m. and the women compete at 1 p.m.

"The schedule has become tougher. I want to base everything on getting to the NCAA National Championships and finishing in the top 10%," said women's head coach Derick "Ringo" Adamson. "This is one of the youngest teams I've put together since I first took the job seven years ago, but they are extremely talented. These women are very capable of competing on a national level and we like to run against the best teams in the country."

Rowan competes at the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA on October 4. The races start at 10 a.m. The Profs run in the Princeton Invitational on October 18 at a time to be determined and they travel to the Haverford Invitational in Haverford, PA on October 24. The women start at 4:30 p.m. and the men at 5 p.m.

"We feel we have a competitive schedule that will allow our student-athletes to prepare well and compete at the end of the season in the NJAC Championships and at the NCAA Atlantic Regional," said men's head coach Dustin Dimit. "We are looking forward to going to the Purple Valley Classic for some top level competition as well as the traditional Paul Short Run and the Princeton Invitational to help us get ready for the postseason."

Richard Stockton College hosts the 2014 NJAC Championships on November 1 in Pomona, NJ. The women's race begins at 10:30 a.m. and the men at 11:15 a.m. The NCAA Atlantic Regional takes place on November 15 at Genesee Valley Park in Rochester, NY.
