Women's Rowing Set For Patriot League Championship

The Holy Cross women's rowing team will return to action on Friday, May 12, when it competes at the Patriot League Championship on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J. Watch the regatta here.

PATRIOT LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP:

  • The varsity eight will take on Boston University, Georgetown and Lehigh in the second heat at 8:10 a.m. The top three boats will advance to the Grand Final at 12:20 p.m., while the remaining team will compete in the Petite Final at 11:50 a.m.
  • The second varsity eight will go against Navy, Boston University and Lehigh in the second heat at 8:30 a.m. The top three boats will advance to the Grand Final at 12:10 p.m., while the remaining team will compete in the Petite Final at 11:40 a.m.
  • The varsity four will compete versus Navy, Georgetown, MIT and Loyola Maryland in the first heat at 8:40 a.m. The top three boats will advance to the Grand Final at 12:00 p.m., while the remaining teams will compete in the Petite Final at 11:30 a.m.
  • The Patriot League Championship will be scored on a weighted scale, with nine points for the winner of the varsity four race, 18 for the second varsity eight and 27 for the varsity eight. The Patriot League champion will be the school that earns the most total points.
  • The Patriot League champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship, set for May 26-28 on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J.
  • Last year, the Crusaders recorded a sixth place finish at the Patriot League Championship. Navy won the championship.

THE TURNPIKE TROPHY:

  • The Patriot League Championship is part of the Turnpike Trophy competition between Holy Cross and Boston University. Go here for the schedule and results of the Turnpike Trophy.
  • This next event is between the men's rowing teams at the Eastern Sprints on May 14 on Lake Quinsigamond.
