Cheltenham Town defeated a Wolves Under-23s team 2-1 in Saturday afternoon's pre-season friendly at Lilleshall.

The goals came from summer signings Liam Sercombe and Finn Azaz, who struck in the 20th and 28th minute respectively.

It was Sercombe's second goal since joining from Bristol Rovers, following his fine long-range strike in the 3-0 win at Stratford Town.

West Brom youngster Azaz found the net for the first time in a Robins shirt.

Wolves pulled one back through 17-year-old Chem Campbell in the 64th minute.

Trialist goalkeeper Max Harris made his third Cheltenham start and is set to be offered a contract by the League Two club.

Will Boyle missed out through injury along with Dan Bowry, Sean Long and Matty Blair, who is also expected to agree terms after he has recovered from his hamstring problem.

Centre midfielder Conor Thomas played at right wing-back for the second successive match, completing the full 90 minutes along with Harris, Ben Tozer, Lewis Freestone, Chris Hussey, George Lloyd and Andy Williams.

Young midfielder Tom Chamberlain made his first friendly appearance of the summer as a second half substitute, having appeared for loan club Alvechurch in their warm-up fixtures.

Cheltenham's final friendly is away to Cardiff City on Tuesday night.
