和牛焼肉 慶 YAKINIKU KEI B1 Nakajima Building 2-6-8 Yoyogi, Shibuya, Tokyo

Speciality: yakiniku

A taste of Korea in Japan Okay, it's gonna get real tedious when I start naming all the cuts of beef they serve. Basically, my travel buddy and I, we had BBQ. Beef, beef, beef, beef, chicken and 'shrooms. We also had some spicy Korean soup and horse sashimi. And of course, sake.

The meats were awesome. Seasoned to the right degree of sweet. The cuts were thick and every bite was juicy. The servers were very hospitable too and I must say, they really try very hard to please.

Maybe it's server rivalry? The two who served us, one spoke some English, the other spoke better Mandarin. I got the sense they were trying to compete with each other on some level to see who could communicate better with us. A little weird.

Nonetheless, we benefitted from the politics. So we left a ¥1000 tip for them to fight over.

Food pictures (left - right; top - bottom): • 慶 焼肉盛合わせ (Kei yakiniku moriawase / combination platter) - beef ribs, rump roast and cow's skirt ¥3000 • 特別 上ロース (tokubetsu ueroosu / special tenderloin) ¥1800 • 大山鶏塩焼き (ooyama niwatori shioyaki / salt-seasoned chicken) ¥900 • Cold sake served at the restaurant ¥750ea • 〆物 (shime mono / closing item) - in this case, Korean spicy soup ¥650 • 桜 刺身 (sakura sashimi / horse sashimi) ¥1000
