I finally finished Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution last week as the season finale was on TV. Ryan Seacrest Productions produced the series. It was amazing and I do admit I teared up a few times.
Let me just start by saying that this TV series is majorly needed in our country and I’m so glad that Jamie Oliver is investing on starting this revolution. He has done the same thing in the UK and now is bringing it to the US.
This isn’t a marketing or publicity stunt. The project has been funded by local organizations and Jamie personally. It has met more opposition than support. However, the fact that kids are expected to have a lifespan 10 years shorter than their parents - the first time in history this has happened - is truly sad.
The last few generations, over the last 30 years, have not been properly taught how to cook or about food. It is time for a move towards natural healthy food. And I’m not talking about something that is marketed as such in the grocery story.
It’s time to visit our local farmers markets, Whole Foods ( if you feel the need to go to a ‘grocery’ store ), and learn how to cook for ourselves. Learn to make good healthy and delicious simple food. It’s not complicated and takes less time than we think.
I’m challenging myself to do better and I’m encouraging you to do the same.
At least do the following things which will help in a big way:
- Sign Jamie’s petition.
They aren’t going to use your information in a bad way, they are taking the digital signatures to the current administration to help change our school’s meal programs, which are terribly unhealthy. - Watch Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution
It’s free on Hulu and totally worth the time to watch a few episodes.
Small simple changes. That’s all it takes.
