2021 Arkansas City Housing Assessment Tool (HAT)
The City of Arkansas City is working on applying for a Community Development Block Grant for Housing this summer. As part of this process, we must soon create a report using the Kansas Department of Commerce’s Housing Assessment Tool (HAT).

The purpose of conducting a housing assessment is to help local communities to identify their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and priorities before allocating resources to implement strategies or tasks that will address those priorities. It should be participatory and completed locally, and this evolving process should be driven by locals.

Part of this process involves reaching out to various stakeholders in housing for their thoughts and needs. We would like to meet in person with you to discuss the future needs of housing in Arkansas City, as well as the needs and concerns of local Realtors. There will be several opportunities at upcoming meetings for you to share your input with us in person, including a public hearing on the HAT that will be held during the City Commission meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 4 in the Commission Room at City Hall, located at 118 W. Central.

If you are unable to attend this public hearing, but would like to offer some input, feel free to complete the following questionnaire or send your thoughts to us by emailing them to housing@arkcity.org.

Thank you sincerely for your willingness to help us to improve housing in Arkansas City!
