Average salary rises

The average Israeli salary rose by 2.2% in September to NIS 8,935, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported today.

The data showed that Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) (TASE: ELEC.B22) employees remain top in terms of highest salaries with an average monthly gross salary of NIS 24,348. In second place are R&D employees with an average gross salary of NIS 20,571, followed by computer employees with an average gross salary of NIS 18,887. Employees in the financial sector who two years ago earned an average gross salaries of NIS 18,000, must now make do with NIS 14,864.

As usual, at the bottom of the table are the 74,000 manpower contract workers who earn an average salary of NIS 3,574. Slightly above them are catering workers who earn NIS 3,607 per month.

In September the number of salaried employees in the economy grew by 1% to 3.053 million.
