Fulham have denied reports that their goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has handed in a transfer request.

Schwarzer has been the subject of long-running speculation linking him with a move across London to Arsenal, who had a £2million bid for the former Middlesbrough player rejected earlier this summer.

The new Fulham manager Mark Hughes underlined his commitment to keep hold of the Australia goalkeeper when he was appointed last month.

Reports had suggested that the 37-year-old was set to force Hughes's hand by demanding a move away from Craven Cottage to have the chance of playing Champions League football for Arsenal next season.

However, a Fulham spokeswoman denied those reports, saying: "The club has not received a transfer request from Mark Schwarzer. Mark is under contract with us until the summer of 2011 and the manager has underlined his commitment to keep hold of his best players."
