NeighborGoods Is a Location-Based Lending and Borrowing Network

Sometimes, it's hard to find what you need from just your immediate neighbors. Free web service NeighborGoods is a site that lets you lend items out to the local community, and connects you with other people who have items you need.

NeighborGoods isn't all that different from sites like Craigslist, except perhaps a bit more nicely organized. You can put any of your unused items up for borrowing, renting, or buying as well as request items from your neighborhood that you'd like to borrow. They have a pretty organized system, too, with calendars, transaction histories, reminders and private messages to keep you on top of where your stuff is.

After getting a free account on NeighborGoods, you can even connect with your friends, allowing you to create rules that, say, lend stuff to them for free but rent it out for cash to others. They don't share your home address unless you put it up yourself, and you can even just do business with your approved network of friends, if you prefer. It's a nice way to find someone to lend you the lawnmower you just need for today, as well as even make some extra cash on those items you don't use all that often.
