AADHum — The African American History, Culture and Digital Humanities Initiative — is pleased to present Black as X: Platforming Experimental Scholarship pt. 2. Join us for this two-day symposium showcasing how noted scholars and discussants conceptualize and do Black DH work. Through lively conversations, they will explore the kinds of areas for experimentation and play that digital work offers Black Studies. They will also discuss modes of sustaining and supporting digital scholarship for graduate students and faculty. Join us as we continue to explore the capaciousness of Black life through experimentation in the digital.

Join Brienne Adams in conversation with Elizabeth Murice Alexander (Cornell), Rianna Walcott (Kings College), and Christin Washington (UMD), moderated by recent AADHum Scholar Dr. Kim Bain (Tufts). They will be discussing the challenges and opportunities of engaging #BlackDH projects as part of their doctoral study.

Immediately following, we will also be joined by scholars from across the faculty spectrum, who will reflect on strategies for integrating digital approaches across their different institutional lifeworlds. This roundtable discussion will feature AADHum scholars Dr. Merle Collins (UMD) and Dr. Amaka Okechukwu (George Mason), and also Associate Dean of Arts and Humanities and Co-PI for Enslaved.org, Dr. Daryle Williams (UMD).
