2021-2022 College Mentor Program - Mentor Application
Thank you for your interest in serving as a mentor for Breakthrough San Juan Capistrano’s College Mentor Program. As part of our program, you will have the opportunity to help make a transformative difference in students’ lives, while simultaneously gaining professional experience transferable to a variety of endeavors beyond Breakthrough.

Our College Mentor Program follows our high school students from the end of their junior year until they begin their first semester of college.  Mentors commit to completing pre-readings, undergoing training, attending monthly meetings, and providing additional support to their mentees as needed during the College Mentor Program cycle.

Mentors are expected to:
-Attend mandatory trainings and each monthly College Mentor Program meeting.
-Approach their role with commitment, responsibility and compassion
-Demonstrate understanding of and sensitivity to intersections of identity (such as educational, economic, cultural and racial backgrounds, gender, and sexual orientation)
-Possess a strong desire to contribute to educational equity
-Maintain flexibility and a willingness to learn and grow
