Representatives from around the world were in Lincolnshire to remember overseas aircrew from fighter squadrons based there during World War II.

Australia, Poland, Canada, Belgium, the USA, the Czech Republic and Slovakia were all represented.

The event has been held at the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre in Coningsby.

Phil Bonner, from organisers Aviation Heritage Lincolnshire, said it was important to pay tribute.

He said: "It's a relatively short ceremony but very poignant.

"We're just handing over a certificate of tribute to representatives from the different nations for the commitment and the sacrifice which people from their air forces made all those years ago, flying from air fields in Lincolnshire."
