Thank you for signing up for Code Chica, Cohort 4!
The Code Chica Certification Program is an 8-week session held on select Saturdays from 10am-2pm at Latinitas HQ, located at 1023 Springdale Road, Building 9, Suite E (second floor), Austin, TX 78721. Unfortunately, our office is not wheelchair accessible.
Cohort 4 Dates are:
- January 18
- January 25
- February 1
- February 8
- February 15
- February 22
- February 29
- March 7
To earn the stipend for completing the program, students must not miss more than one day of programming.
Code Chica volunteer requirements include:
- Having reliable transportation to attend meetings + workshop dates
- Can guarantee commitment for the entire duration of the cohort session(s) you select
- If assisting students, basic experience with HTML, CSS and Javascript is required. Advanced experience encouraged.
- Having an enthusiastic and encouraging nature towards the cohort students.
Guest Speaker Role:
-Give a short presentation during lunchtime sharing your career experience and tips for girls to get involved in STEM
-Create an interactive experience where the girls can engage in the conversation. Please provide powerpoint slides, handouts, and/or worksheets.
-Guest speaker guidelines will be provided through email.
Lab Assistant Role:
- Working directly with students to help problem solve, provide guidance, and assist in helping facilitate the lessons.
- Help instructor with the facilitation of curriculum lessons.
What is Code Chica? This program is FREE for girls between 8th and 12th grade. Upon completion of the program, students will receive a $75 stipend and a certificate outlining their accomplishments. Students will work together with instructors and guest speakers that currently work in computer science, engineering, technology development and more while learning introductory HTML, CSS and Javascript to create their own website!
