Using the examples of two public artworks created during and in the wake of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, this article provides case studies for the conception and production of art in the context of the mega-event. These case studies consider the effects of the mega-event on the experience of public space, and the artist’s ability to negotiate the terms of engagement therein.
