Phased Return to In-Person Instruction Campbell Union High School District is excited to be moving forward with implementing Level 3 and Level 4 services this academic year. We anticipate being able to accommodate all families that indicated the hybrid program as their preference by the end of April. Information on what the hybrid program will look like for your student can be found by clicking here. In the coming weeks, families can expect the following:
As you may know, on Saturday, March 20, 2021, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) adopted and published new guidance that decreases the required physical distancing for student desks. The state's updated guidance strongly recommends distancing of at least three feet for students in classrooms. This information was published following new recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
District administrators are currently reviewing the new guidelines and the potential impacts the guidelines may have on reopening high schools. While the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) adopted and published new guidance that decreases the required physical distancing of students desks from six feet to three feet, schools are still advised to not attempt to complete reopenings in one step and instead advises phased reopening of schools.
As we first implement Level 3 of our Phased Return to In-Person Instruction plan, we will continue to evaluate our current hybrid program before making a recommendation to expand reopening plans further. Superintendent Robert Bravo will provide a report to the Board of Trustees on April 15 on further expanding reopening.
Any changes to our current COVID-19 safety and prevention procedures will be communicated to the full community.
Athletics and Extracurriculars CUHSD schools are working to provide in-person extracurricular activities and athletics in alignment with the latest California Department of Public Health and Santa Clara County Department of Health guidance. For the latest guidance and information regarding athletics or extracurricular programs, click here.
End of the Year Events With the current COVID-19 rates and expanded availability of vaccines, school sites are anticipating being able to provide in-person graduations and end-of-the year events. Our school administrators and activities directors are working to create opportunities for seniors as our county moves down tiers and public health restrictions are lifted. School sites will communicate with students and families throughout this planning process. All plans will need to be flexible and responsive to the current scenario our county is in at the time of the activity.
Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) Statement of Solidarity As we reflect on the past year, our hearts are heavy by the recent incidents of anti-Asian racism and xenophobia across the United States. We want our Asian-American educators, staff, students and community to know that we stand with you. We acknowledge your pain and recognize that any acts of racism hurt our entire community.
Campbell Union High School District stands committed to engaging in productive dialogue and action aimed at building trust and compassion in our community. Our community is stronger when we all pull together towards this common goal. We must speak up against any hate in any form and work towards building a better, brighter future for everyone.
