Czech electronics retailer Datart now allows its customers to use their Facebook login details to access the firm’s site and share information with friends.

The retailer is using the Facebook Connect API to provide the functionality, which allows customers to share items directly from Datart product pages into their Facebook accounts. After pressing the ‘Connect with Facebook’ button on the site, the customer can link their existing Datart account to their Facebook ID and then log in to the site using just their Facebook credentials in the future. Additionally, when the user visits the Datart site in the future, if they are already logged into Facebook then they will automatically be logged into the electronics retailer too.

The massively popular social network says that sites that use Facebook Connect as an alternative to account registration have seen a 30-200% increase in registration on their sites, and that Connect-enabled sites usually enjoy a 15-100% increase in reviews and other user generated content.

“For each story published in Facebook, we see roughly three clicks back to the site. Nearly half the stories in the stream get clicked on. This creates opportunities for the site to encourage more user actions — knowing that each one may result in three new visits to their site,” says the firm.
