Exit the Hobbit’s Director

So anyway, apparently it’s true: Guillermo del Toro is stepping down as director of the two-part The Hobbit.  del Toro felt he could not “commit six years to living in New Zealand” (his original commitment was only for three years).  The movie is moving forward and Peter Jackson and friends are working on finding another director.  You can read more about it on The Hobbit site.

There is also talk that the movie is “in limbo,” with no start date established.  This article about del Toro leaving shows the two release dates as December 2012 and December 2013.  What I’d read previously had the dates as 2011 and 2012.  We’ll see.  Sigh…
