What is a Google Developer Student Club?
Google Developer Student Club (GDSC) is a Google Developers program to help university students broaden their knowledge about world-class technology curricula and well-equip students for future needs. The program identifies and supports university students who are passionate about growing developer communities and fosters learning and collaboration. The club is open to any student, ranging from novice to advanced developers, who want to hone new skills. The Club aims to help students grow their expertise on developer technologies and solve real world problems through technology. Technology is poised to bring a change in the world if applied effectively to real world problems. The club is pivotal to provide students with hands-on latest technologies through Google's curated resources.
History of GDSC
GDSC was launched by Google in 2017 as a pilot program in India to help solve the challenges university graduates were facing securing employment in the tech industry. They aimed to provide students with the resources, opportunities and, experience necessary to be industry-ready, all while still pursuing their degrees.
Since then, the program has grown globally. To India, Indonesia, and Sub-Saharan Africa. GDSCs are training thousands of student developers ( around 60k+ so far) and working with their communities to solve real-life problems- Check out some of their stories to learn more.
