COMMUNITY HEALTH & WELL-BEING RE: CORONAVIRUS

Our mission at Elsewhere as always is to create a safer space to enjoy music, art, and freedom of expression, and so ensuring the safety of our community, our artists, and our staff remains our top priority. We know that for many right now, the news about coronavirus is top of mind, and we want to keep you updated about the precautions we are taking in the face of COVID-19.

WHAT WE’RE DOING:

UPDATE 6/2/2021

Under current CDC regulations, New York State now allows general admission music events of our size to take place provided that audiences are fully vaccinated.

This is a very big turning point for nightlife in NYC and an important step on the path back to normalcy as our favorite cultural institutions attempt to get back on their feet.

So it is with gratitude that we announce that beginning June 10th, 2021, we will be clearing away our tables and chairs and inviting our community back to Elsewhere for regular standing room events without social distancing and an optional mask policy.

In order to do so, we must temporarily operate all events with proof of vaccination required for entry - more information is provided below this message on what to expect when you arrive.

We understand that for some, this policy raises questions of accessibility and inclusivity, topics which are very important to us. We are choosing to open under these mandatory guidelines not as a way to discriminate, but in order to create an environment of safety and comfort at our events during this difficult and complex time. During this transition period back to normalcy, our first priority is the safety of our audiences and community.

As the Summer and Fall unfold, our North Star on COVID policy will remain New York State and NYC guidelines, and we will be keeping our audiences up to date regularly if and when government restrictions lift.

Over the next several months, if you have concerns about public safety, or are unable or uncomfortable complying with CDC and NYS guidelines during this time, please reach out to us at care@elsewherebrooklyn.com so we will help you navigate your ticket-holding experience with care.

Finally, we ask for your patience and empathy with our staff as we get Elsewhere back on its feet - when we got into nightlife they never imagined their job would include taking temperatures and checking vaccination cards.

We are as eager as our audiences to get back to the good old days, and we hope this summer’s good public health news already has us well on our way.

For questions or more information, please contact us at info@elsewherebrooklyn.com.

UPDATE 6/19/2020:

We are continuing to monitor the ongoing situation regarding COVID-19 as we begin to prepare to re-open portions of Elsewhere (such as the rooftop bar) according to Phase 2 city guidelines.

Government timelines and guidelines continue to be issued day by day, so our timeline for events remains fluid. Right now all of our shows through the end of June remain officially postponed. We ask for your patience as we continue to work with artists and management teams to reschedule the postponed shows.

We will have more information about which events are rescheduled or cancelled as we learn more about the evolving timeline of the city's closure mandate, so please keep checking back for updates as we will post them here.

We'll have a new schedule for you soon! We miss you all and can’t wait to reopen our doors again. Hang in there!

COMMUNITY HEALTH PRECAUTIONS:

Critically, as we begin to re-open portions of the venue, we will be taking every measure possible to maintain the highest standards of hygiene at Elsewhere. We remain in close communication with the Mayor's Office of Nightlife, to receive real-time direction from the city regarding public health safety guidelines and recommendations as they develop this summer.

As we begin to reopen, Elsewhere has reinforced our already strict protocols regarding prevention, hygiene, cleaning and sanitation. We have also implemented new procedures to promote the health and safety of team members and customers as well as a fully cashless and contactless payment system:

  • Temperature checks and DOH health questionnaires administered by a medical professional for all staff prior to entry
  • All staff must wear face coverings and gloves at all times
  • Making every effort to ensure hand sanitizer is always available for staff and guests
  • Maintaining our “A” rating from the NYC Department of Health through specialized Covid-19 cleanings
  • All COVID measures and Phase II onward business plan filed with DOH
  • Mandatory hand washing for all staff before and after using the bathroom.
  • The addition of a new, dedicated cleaning role to ensure all trafficked areas in front and back of house are disinfected.
  • Bathrooms closed and sanitized every half hour during events.

While Elsewhere does its part, we ask that all customers help us by adhering to the policies and mandates released by the Mayor’s and Governor’s Offices. Failure to do so can put those around you at risk and result in the immediate closure of Elsewhere and the loss of our liquor license. We take your health & wellbeing seriously - please help us keep everyone safe!

  • All patrons will be asked to perform a temperature check upon entry, and no patron will be allowed to enter if they have a temperature of 100.4° F or higher

  • All patrons must wear masks at all times except when they are seated

  • All food and beverages must be consumed at your seats

  • More than 50 guests cannot be allowed on the roof at a time

  • Parties must stand in queue 6 ft. apart (spacing will be indicated on the ground)

  • Patrons cannot be within 100 ft. of the exterior of Elsewhere without masks and cannot congregate in large groups

  • Patrons cannot consumer alcoholic beverages on the street

  • We encourage customers to plan ahead by using our digital ticketing system rather than paper tickets.

  • We encourage customers to use our cashless and contactless payment system.

THANK YOU! 💜

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

Public health is a communal effort. As we do our part to ensure a hygienic environment, we ask that you help us by following current health guidelines to prevent further spread:

  • do not enter large crowds if you’re not feeling well or showing symptoms
  • practice proper handwashing techniques
  • avoid touching your face
  • dispose of used cups, utensils, and napkins properly
  • cough or sneeze only into your upper sleeve or a tissue, and promptly dispose

REFUNDS

PLEASE READ BELOW FOR AN UPDATE OF OUR COVID REFUND POLICY*

Please note that for the foreseeable future all refunds will be offered via a Tixel link where you will be able to choose to:

(a) double your money and convert your ticket value to 2x the original amount in the form of credit

(b) keep or donate your ticket and support independent live music (thank you!), or

(c) get a full refund

For rescheduled events, all tickets will still be honored for the rescheduled date.

To inquire about your refund options, please email info@elsewherebrooklyn.com with your full name, event name and ticket order number.

An appeal from Elsewhere: If you can afford it, please strongly consider donating your ticket value or choosing credit towards future ticket purchases. These are critical times and your existing ticket value will go towards ensuring that independent music and art continues to thrive at Elsewhere for years to come. Of course we understand if you are not able, and we are happy to offer a full refund. We will be back and will see you on the dance floor!

All refund requests will be processed within 30 days after the option is submitted on Tixel. Please note that tickets will not be refunded unless requested via the link above.

MUSIC COMMUNITY

On behalf of the broader music community, we want to add that now is a very critical time to continue supporting artists (and especially emerging artists) in any way possible, who rely lopsidedly on touring and live performance for their livelihood and will be greatly impacted by the coronavirus. Please make sure to buy your favorite artists’ music and merch online if you are unable to attend events!

Let’s work together to keep each other safe.

Thank you,
The Elsewhere Team
