Did you, like so many of us in Minnesota, grow up on the "Little House" books? If so, you'll be pleased to see that there's a new one (sort of): "Little House Traveler: Writings From Laura Ingalls Wilder's Journeys Across America," released in paperback by Harper. It comprises previously published works -- "On the Way Home," Wilder's diary of the move from South Dakota to Missouri; "West From Home," her letters from a visit to San Francisco in 1915; and "The Road Back," her trip back to South Dakota in 1931. Great reading, if you can get over the jarring shock of Laura signing her letters "Bessie," her husband's nickname for her.

Another perspective comes from writer Wendy McClure, who retraces the journey of the Ingalls family in her new memoir, "The Wilder Life: My Adventures in the Lost World of 'Little House on the Prairie,'" due out in April from Riverhead Books. She'll be at Magers & Quinn Booksellers in Minneapolis' Uptown neighborhood on April 20.
