            • Bradley Cooper on being Friends with GREEN LANTERN

In just a few hours WonderCon will finally be in motion and we'll keep you covered with all the latest Green Lantern news. Until then though, kick up your feet and read up on what 'Hangover Part 2' star and former potential Hal Jordan, Bradley Cooper has to say about his friendship with THE Hal Jordan, Ryan Reynolds.

Bradley Cooper's Limitless may be a worldwide box office hit but the Hangover 2 star couldn't manage to wrangle the lead of The Green Lantern from Ryan Reynolds during auditions.

"Ryan and I got to know each other through testing for Green Lantern," Cooper told TF exclusively. "They tried to separate everybody [who was auditioning]. They would usher you in one room and the other guy out the other room..."

"I was like, 'is this nuts?' I didn't allow that to happen. We were emailing each other. I know his wife very well from He’s Just Not That Into You. I love him. So now we’re always looking to do something together."

The new bromance will hopefully get its onscreen outing in an untitled police 'four-hander' set in San Francisco. In the meantime, Cooper got a first look at Reynolds in action.

"He’s put [the outfit] on for me a lot," he joked. "It’s great. He comes over and he hangs out in his Green Lantern uniform."

The Hangover 2 opens on 26 May. Green Lantern opens June 17th.

Hah! I bet those two are a riot when they get together!

I'm not a proponent of Bradley Cooper playing Guy Gardner, but after reading that, it's an interesting prospect

                    • Blake Lively talks GREEN LANTERN...and Karaoke at CinemaCon

Yesterday Warner Bros. premiered ten minutes of GREEN LANTERN footage for the folks at CinemaCon, and plan to do the same today at WonderCon. Before they showed that footage though, Collider was able to grab star Blake Lively for a quick interview. Read the transcript below or head over to Collider for video.

Collider: You’ve been answering a lot of the same questions, so I’m going to ask a fun one to start things off. What’s your go-to karaoke song?

Lively: Everybody has asked me that.

                      I don’t think so.

Lively: I actually don’t sing karaoke.

Neither do I, but what’s your go-to song?

Lively: What would I sing? I don’t know. Probably a Disney song.

I have not heard that before.

                      Lively: Really?

A lot of people go Whitesnake, or 80s songs.

Lively: No, no, no. Definitely Disney. “A Whole New World,” The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast.

I like it. That’s good stuff. I’m really excited for your movie and the reason why we’re here today. What have you seen of the finished film?

Lively: Nothing. I haven’t seen anything. I’m excited to be here and show this footage to everyone because this is this the only time I get to see any of the movie. It’s so top secret.

Well, have you been doing ADR or anything?

Lively: Yeah, but you get little clips right before. So you don’t get to see much. And the ADR we’ve seen hasn’t had the visual effects in yet. I’m so excited to be here today to see it.

You’ve obviously talked a lot about who you play and what the film’s about. What I’m curious about — you’ve done other movies, you go to Gossip Girl, that takes off. Now you’re entering the realm of big budget movies. Could you talk about how that is for you? Did you ever think you would get to be the lead in…

Lively: I never thought I would be an actor, so this is all — I feel like I’m pulling the wool over everyone’s eyes every day. I love it. Every film has been different for me. Every film has been a different challenge for a different reason. I fell into it. I worked my whole life to go to an Ivy League school and I tried out acting. I was very fortunate and got a job in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I still wasn’t convinced after that that I should dedicate my life to something because I was so passionate about going to school. And so every job that I’ve done when I took time to explore it has been out of love and out passion. I’ve been proud to work on everything that I’ve worked on, and I’ve had a great experience in everything.

You’re flying to WonderCon either tonight or tomorrow. What do you geek about, and are you planning on wearing a mask or anything.

Lively: [Enthusiastically points to the Harry Potter logo behind her, then mimes casting a spell with an imaginary wand.] Sorry, I shouldn’t have done that. Rewind, erase.

                      • GREEN LANTERN Footage Description from CinemaCon

Going to keep this intro short and simple Lantern fans. WB premiered ten minutes of GREEN LANTERN footage at CinemaCon and we finally have a description of the footage shown. Read below for a SPOILER-Y description of four scenes and a new trailer:

The first clip begins with the title "Sector 2018" and we see Abin Sur using some fancy light-based controls on his ship and communicating with Mark Strong's Sinestro, who is telling him about a planet that's been destroyed by Parallax, but before getting too far into the conversation, Abin Sur is attacked by Parallax--we can't see it too clearly but it looks like a large yellow head with sharp teeth--and he gets seriously injured before flying away in his glass cylindrical spaceship.

The second clip has Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan finding Abin Sur's spaceship in the water and he runs out to try to save the being he sees in there. He wades out and pulls Abin Sur out of the ship and carries him to the beach, making a joke about having to get him to a hospital where they have purple blood. After giving Hal his ring and telling him to use it with the lantern in his spaceship, Abin Sur dies and his body transforms into some sort of grey substance.

The third clip has Hal with the lantern and ring back at his place. He places the lantern on a table and then slips on the ring, following the instructions to insert his hand and recite the oath, but the only oath he remembers is the Pledge of Allegiance, so he tries a variation on that, but the lantern rejects it, pushing him away with a green blast. When he lands, he's in his full Green Lantern suit and mask and he tries to act cool like he belongs there by strutting around. He's called over by Tomar-Re, voiced by Geoffrey Rush, who is basically the OA welcome wagon, and Hal is surprised that he can understand the creature in front of him, and Tomar Re explains that the ring is translating and that it can also create a mask or not depending on whether Hal's identity needs to be kept secret.

The last clip has Sinestro addressing the massive Green Lantern Corps collected to warn them about Parallax having killed four of their members. This is a giant open space filled with Green Lanterns with a giant Green Lantern symbol behind Sinestro, and this is probably the scene that's going to have the biggest fanboys soiling their trousers because there are so many of the great Green Lanterns we've seen in the comics over the years and probably more than a few easter eggs. We don't know enough of their names by heart to expound at length about who we saw, but we did see a very familiar robotic GL and possibly even an Alpha Lantern in there.

Afterwards, they showed the new trailer, which is a lot more action-based, as well as showing quite a bit more of Peter Sarsgaard's Dr. Hector Hammond, but we haven't really seen a lot of Hal and Carol together, so hopefully Warner Bros. won't completely forego a lot of that important character stuff in the future. Since we know that the footage we saw wasn't completely finished, we'll reserve judgment on how it looked compared to our expectations, but we definitely think Reynolds was the right man for the job from what we saw.

                            • So, where the HELL'S the footage? It's bad enough that no one filmed the footage at the Sandy Eggo Comic Con, but they BETTER have filmed it this time! There's a RIDICULOUS number of "spy" cameras available these days, totally concealable on your person! If I ever go to SDCC, I'll hit-up ThinkGeek.Com beforehand, stock up, and walk in with, like, 5 different cameras concealed on my person! This is how you hook up the fanboys & girls that couldn't attend, ladies & gentlemen! GET IT RIGHT!
