This season's ACC And SEC sleeper teams.

College football has a history of unpredictability, upsets, and cinderellas toppling a powerhouse.

Almost every prediction has Florida taking the SEC, and many suspect Virginia Tech or Georgia Tech will win the ACC. There are two teams, however, who are looking to overturn the expected outcomes.

North Carolina - Tar Heels

The Tar Heels have the deck stacked against them in 2009. 

Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech are already picked to compete for the ACC Coastal and North Carolina plays both on the road.

The defense in Chapel Hill needs to be strong this year as they return more experienced and deeper. Teams will try to exploit their weaknesses by moving the ball through the air against their suspect secondary, which was 11th in the ACC in passing yards allowed last year.

The offense will experience a lot of changes in 2009 as several players left for the NFL Draft. 

Quarterback T.J. Yates will return to the roster in hopes of sparking an offense that will lose four receivers from a year ago.

North Carolina has a lot of talent that down the road will solidify them as an ACC title contender. The question is if that talent is able to compete this year.

With all the attention on Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech, North Carolina has the opportunity to fly under the radar and surprise a lot of people.

LSU - Tigers

The LSU Tigers have one of the toughest schedules in the SEC in 2009. 

Despite the challenge ahead of them, they still have a chance to emerge as a sleeper in the competitive SEC.

All the talk of the SEC West this summer has surrounded the Ole' Miss Rebels and sensation quarterback Jevan Snead. Alabama is another team that has gotten a lot of publicity, and neither team has to face the Florida Gators.

LSU does host Florida at home in what could be the deciding game of their season.  Three other games stand out on the schedule as they have to take on Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia all on the road.

The offense at LSU will be explosive with one of the SEC's best rushers in Charles Scott. Jordan Jefferson will start as the quarterback, and has plenty of weapons as the Tigers return a strong receiving corps.

LSU has no break in the schedule, but Les Miles is the perfect coach to succeed under that kind of pressure. The Tigers could pull off a couple upsets and find themselves playing in Atlanta for the SEC Championship.
