You Again - A Shelter Bay Novella

A book nerd, a brainiac science guy, and a misplaced killer whale...

Meghann Quinn wasn’t always a hugely successful author. Adam Wayne wasn’t always a marine biologist studying whales. Back in high school in Shelter Bay, Oregon, she was the shy book nerd helping the brainiac science guy pass English. Meghann had no idea Adam would turn into such a hottie. Adam has no idea their once-upon-a-time sweet summer romance inspired Meghann’s popular teen novels.

Two shy geeks didn’t have the courage to share their true feelings back then. But now that Meghann’s back in town, they’re pondering life’s important questions. Such as, will Adam ask her to the Snow Ball? And what are they going to do about the lost Orca who shows up on Christmas Eve? And can two nerds get past their initial insecurity to take a second chance on a once-in-a-lifetime love?

I read Jessica Scott's part of the book: **I received an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion** I love how Jessica Scott accurately portrays the emotions of the military personnel returned from deployment. In this story Patrick and Sam are struggling. Sam has survivor's guilt, some PTSD, and is feeling numb and empty. Unable to feel love, she seeks the solace of home and goes back to Maine. Patrick has had counseling for his PTSD, but he's still harboring a secret from Sam. He won't lose her or their daughter, when Natalie calls daddy and asks him to come, he's on the next plane, ready to do anything and everything to save his family. Patrick helps Sam realize she can't kick her problems alone, and she needs to face them in order to go forward with their lives. He also shows her he'll stay--other men in her life have left her, so she ran before she thought he would. But Patrick is in for the long haul. Proving love can both of them heal and find their way back to each other. He willing to leave the military and start life over in Maine, anything to save his family. Sam sees Patrick's love as true, learns his secret, and begins the long journey back to love and feeling again.

About the author

About JoAnn

I wrote my first story -- a tragic romance about two star-crossed Mallard ducks -- as a second grade writing assignment. The paper earned a gold star. And I kept writing.

I've since written around a hundred novels and have been published in twenty-six countries. Two of my titles have been excerpted in Cosmopolitan magazine and my books have also been published by the Doubleday, Rhapsody, Mystery Guild, and Literary Guild bookclubs. As a New York Times, U.S. Today, and Publishers Weekly bestseller, I'm also a member of the Romance Writers of America's Honor Roll of best-selling authors.

I'm currently writing my Shelter Bay series, set on the magnificent Oregon coast where, when I was eighteen-years-old, my high school sweetheart bought me a bag of taffy, then proposed. The smartest thing I ever did was say yes! I've also begun a spin-off trilogy of Shelter Bay. River's Bend (home to three sexy Murphy brothers) is set in Southern Oregon ranching country, where I grew up. And, I'm expanding my award-winning Irish series, set in Castlelough, Ireland, Shelter Bay's sister city.

My husband and I live in our beloved Pacific Northwest, with three rescued dogs who pretty much rule the house. (And, in case you're wondering, that taffy store is still there! )

 About Jessica

USA Today Bestselling author Jessica Scott is a career army officer, mother of two daughters, three cats and three dogs, wife to a career NCO and wrangler of all things stuffed and fluffy. She is a terrible cook and even worse housekeeper, but she's a pretty good shot with her assigned weapon and someone liked some of the stuff she wrote. Somehow, her children are pretty well adjusted and her husband still loves her, despite burned water and a messy house.

She's also written for the New York Times At War Blog, PBS Point of View Regarding War, and IAVA. She deployed to Iraq in 2009 as part of OIF/New Dawn and has had the honor of serving as a company commander at Fort Hood, Texas twice.

Most recently, she's been featured as one of Esquire Magazine's Americans of the Year for 2012.
