Watford IFC were quickly back to winning ways this Saturday with a convincing 5-0 win at Leeds.

The hosts, among the founders of the IFA league in which WIFC compete, were more competitive than the scoreline might suggest and forced the visitors to produce a hard-working display in the Yorkshire sunshine.

WIFC started the game brightly and were in front after ten minutes when Laurence Wells finished neatly after good work from Richard Walker in midfield.

The visitors doubled their lead shortly afterwards when leading scorer Rob Sterry smashed home his 12th goal of the season from 25 yards.

More was to come as Chris Dundon finished from close range after a goal-mouth scramble to make it 3-0 at the break.

With the home side playing down the slope in the second half they were able to exert plenty of pressure on WIFC, but stout defending led by Mat Ball and Frank Smith kept Leeds at bay.

Smith was almost on the scoresheet too after a mazy run from deep inside his own half, but his finish was wayward, while Phil McBride and Ed Sterry also forced good saves from the keeper.

As the home side ran out of steam, WIFC were able to add some gloss to the scoreline with two late goals.

Liam Stone added the fourth with a composed finish for a goal on his WIFC debut, while Andy Myall tapped in after good work from Ed Sterry to register his first strike for the club since joining in 2009.
