When you do something effortlessly and people commend you continuously, you have found your gift.

That's what I tell people all the time. And it's true.

I get story. I always have. I started writing when I was eight on a Smith Corona (the electronic kind -- I'm not THAT old). I wrote stories in every spiral notebook I had. Eventually, I graduated to a Mac (yes, I'm one of THOSE people). I imagined new worlds, emotional conflicts, and HEAs while I waited at stoplights or wandered the grocery store. But here's the thing: I didn't just dream it up and write it down -- I critiqued what I read. I knew when ideas were good, and when they stunk. I ran writing groups, judged creative contests, and eventually got two graduate degrees in writing. That's right: I love it that much.

So here I am, years later, writing kickass heroines and devastating good guys, along with some mystery and vampires thrown in (I promise: THEY'RE COMING). And what's really cool? I do what I love. Wanna write a success story for your life: I promise you, that's it. Do what you love. And hopefully, you can make a living at it too. That's the golden ticket, Charlie.

And chocolate doesn't hurt, either...

Inside the Lines is a red-hot novel featuring the main character as a Dom. Known as the Mistress Hathaway, she is doing the unexpected and going to the client instead of him coming to her. This one client has the potential of making the mysterious MIss Hathaway come completely undone. He has a way of unveiling her layers that she has spent so much time building up until he finds the real her. The woman underneath. Fin MacKenzie is sexy, hot, and a gorgeous Scotsman who makes her rethink everything she has built. Miss Hathaway knows, she must stop what is happening between them but at the same time can't stop her uncontrollable feelings towards this one man. Will Fin MacKenzie give the mysterious woman known as Miss Hathaway a love like she never expected to have? And will he be the one to finally make her a submissive? And even though Miss Hathaway secretly would love to be a submissive, will she allow the Scotsman to make her his submissive? And what about all her rules as a Dom? Can Miss Hathaway stay inside the lines or will Fin MacKenzie cause her to stray from inside the lines?

Ally Bishop has indeed written a romance unlike other romances featuring Doms. Miss Hathaway is an experienced Dom who has a secret of her own. One that she can't afford to let out. And the other main character is an irresistible man who tempts Miss Hathaway in ways she never thought. A well written plot and a story that readers everywhere will fall in love with. I highly recommend reading this hot, and enticing novel by Ally Bishop. Overall, I rate Inside the Lines a five out of five stars!

A copy of Inside The Lines was provided to ESRR in exchange for an honest review.

Lux Trace has an interesting job – she’s a professional dominatrix, specializing in helping people to live out their fantasies. Lux (AKA Mistress Hathaway) has three simple rules that she adheres to:

Never let them disobey you.

Never let them touch you.

Never have sex with them.

She knows what she wants and she’s in control at all times. Or at least she was until she came face to face with Fin Mackenize aka sex on a stick (okay, I made up the aka – but yeah!)

As Lux begins to break the rules that keep her grounded, she finds herself plunging into a pit of confusion and wanting to fall into Fin’s arms, but scared about what that could mean for her heart.

Lux keeps men at arms length. She’s had a troubling existence due to a less than happy childhood. When Fin walks into her life, her heart falls fast, but her head has other ideas. Inside the lines is a journey of learning how to love when you never thought you could.

I really loved Lux – a great, headstrong character with issues that she strives to overcome – even though it is challenging at times.

Fin – ahh, lovely. He’s sweet, sexy and comes out with some awesome one liners:

“Well, he wasna very specific with the details, but he did mention that ya needed a cock.”

That line had me howling with laughter, though I did find Fin’s accent threw me a little at times and I would’ve preferred if the author had just mentioned his strong accent rather than adding it to the dialogue.

There are, of course, some truly heartbreaking moments, moments when I wanted to shake Lux by the shoulders. Poor Fin!

“Ye broke me, Lux Trace. And it hurt.”

A teary eyed moment for sure.

There are some super steamy scenes, but all done tastefully and what I liked most about this book is that there is a fabulous plot.

I fail to find anything I dislike about this book. From the very start, it sucked me in and I didn’t want to put it down.

Tasteful and Classy
One thing is true; we are all shaped, in one way or another, by our childhood experiences. Lux Trace, our main character, is no exception. She suffers, in silent, from deep seated insecurities which were brought on by her unhappy and unhealthy adolescence. Over the years she has built walls around her heart. Lux’s entire adult life has been spent in the world of BDSM. Becoming Dominatrix “Madam Hathaway” has given her power, control, stability and respect, which in turn makes her feel safe.
On a chance encounter, Lux meets Fin MacKenzie. This Scottish man is unbelievably handsome, extremely confident and his Scottish accent makes him irresistible. As their relationship advances, her instabilities surface; thus making her start to doubt who she is and what she has become.
Will their love be able to withstand the storm that is about to hit?
Author Ally Bishop has written a tasteful, classy, erotic tale filled with emotion. The plot is strong and relate-able making this book, a true winner. 4.8 Stars

It's refreshing to have an erotica author treat her readers like adults. There was a good story. A woman who made her own way in the world and didn't need anyone else to know who she was. There were fairly robust characters. Who doesn't love a Scotsman with his brogue accent and boy next door sweetness. There were realistic relationships among the characters. And the limited use of cutesy euphemisms was greatly appreciated and made it easier to get lost in the story. This was a great read and I'm liking forward to reading the other characters' stories! And their steamy love lives, of course.

I recognize that most people use erotica as written porn. However, I still appreciate a well-written story with a character arc. Inside the Lines combines the steam and the intelligence- and a Scotsman! I also appreciate the lack of control issues and ignoring of boundaries on the part of the male lead. It's good to read a book written by someone who doesn't think an unhealthy relationship is sexy.

This was a great read! Fast paced, good character development and just enough steam to make it interesting ;) With her relatable (and mouth watering) characters, she sets the tone for a very exciting new series.

Ms. Bishop has managed to introduce her readers to the kinky side of the bedroom in a way that's classy and real. No cliché pizza delivery here! Well done!

Inside the Lines is a fun, sexy read with beautiful layers and a plot that pulls you in and pushes you through the pages. I enjoyed the complexity of the heroine--her secrets, her dreams, her need for control. And I enjoyed her undoing at the hands or Fin MacKenzie, whose gentle pursuit of her brings her control to its knees. Bishop does a fantastic job of writing tasteful sex scenes that serve the plot well and characters who are multi-faceted and relatable. I will definitely be continuing on in this series and would wholeheartedly recommend this author to others!

This book was definitely outside of my normal reading range. I generally find reading erotica to be an eye-rolling experience, full of cliches and overused euphemisms. It was also my first BDSM novel, and I wasn't sure I would enjoy reading about that world. I was delightfully surprised by this book. The story was thoughtful, the characters fully fleshed out, the descriptions superbly done. I'm very glad that I took the time to read it. I look forward to reading more by this author!

"Inside the Lines" by Ally Bishop, Lux, aka Madam Hathaway is a professional Dominatrix in NYC. That means she doesn't have sex with her clients but sets their scenes and fulfills fantasies. Enter Fin-- ginger model, aspiring veterinarian, horse whisperer from Scotland --who she meets one night when he turns up as a substitute for a scene. I know close to nothing about BDSM and what little I have read, came from "Fifty Shades of Grey". But what I do know is a good romance when I read one! And this is one hot romance. (Underline hot!) And as a fan of all things "Outlander" and Sam Heughan -- how could this tale not be something I would be totally in to. It starts out smoking hot and continues til the last page.

But it's not all whips and handcuffs. Lux, a woman who likes to be in charge, thrives on it really -- soon discovers that this Scotsman has made her feel things she believed were not possible... And stirs up memories from her youth that she would rather leave in the past. But does she want a real relationship anyway? Is there room for a real relationship in her life? And is she even worth all the trouble?

Let's just say that this novel made me sigh in all the right places. Well done!

I was given a copy of this book by the author for an honest review.

INSIDE THE LINES is a play on the senses. The story line and characters are very well-developed. Lux Hathaway is a professional dominatrix. When one of her partners cannot make it to help out with a client, he asks Fin MacKenzie to substitute for him. Things start to get hot between Fin and Lux, but that will change. Lux always pushes away anyone who gets too close when she is in a relationship. She will have to find a way to repair the damage she has done. I loved reading this book and cannot wait to see what else Ally Bishop has in store for us in the next book. I give INSIDE THE LINES 4/5 stars. I also recommend this book to everyone.

This is the first title I've read by Ally Bishop and I mostly enjoyed the book. The main characters Lux (aka Dominatrix Miss Hathaway) and Fin (a Scottish underwear model/horse trainer) are enjoyable and the story was wrapped up nicely. My only complaint was that this was listed as an "erotic" romance but I've read much steamier scenes in other types of romance. However, the book was still enjoyable and I do plan to read the next book in the series.

Awesome read! Inside the Lines, by Ally Bishop, is a sweet, STEAMY romance between Lux (a Dominatrix) and Fin (a sweet, Scottish model/horse whisperer). When Fin comes into Lux's life, she realizes he makes her feel different. Is Lux ready to address her past to find true happiness? Loved the characters! Loved the story!

"Inside the Lines" is an exciting read that pulls you in from the first chapter. Lux is satisfied with her career as a dominatrix until Fin, a handsome Scot, turns her world upside down. Will Fin be the one to crack her tough shell or will he be "the one that got away"? It's a book that you won't want to put down!

I received an advance copy of this book from the author to review, and I certainly wasn't disappointed. Ally sucks you right into her fictional world with relatable characters, a realistic plot, and the sort of BDSM-flavored romance that puts a certain popular series to shame. Deliciously sexy and well-written, this one is definitely worth a read.

BRAVO ALLY!!
Just so you know, I received an advanced copy of this book to read and review but didn't receive anything to write a good review, this is an honest review of the book and nothing else.
This is a great read from the word go! Lux Trace, Dominatrix "Miss Hathaway" and Fin MacKenzie (HOT Scotsman, Vet student and accent and YUMMY for days!) Lux is stuck in her own head and can't allow herself to be dominated because she does the dominating and that seems to be OK with Fin. They meet by chance when Lux's friend Stephen can't make one of her scenes (appointments) one night and it is sizzle from there on out. Don't let the theme of dominating and submission put you off this story because it does not get really into the subject matter and only shows a woman who helps people deal with their own sexuality (their wants, needs and desires) but it does NOT go at all far into the lifestyle.
I won't bore you with my version of what happens because I won't do it justice but suffice it to say you will cheer and yell (Lux can be frustrating) and laugh and cheer again and fall in love with Lux with all of her insecurities and Fin with all of his confidence. There is PLENTY of sizzle and sexy scenes in this book (Ally knows how to write H-O-T sex on a page, the party scene at Stephen's is OMG HOT!!)
The only thing I wish Ally had expounded on is a little more back story on Fin and his family and more detail about when Lux goes to Scotland to find him. Cute story about running through the field!
I cannot wait to read the subsequent stories of the other interesting, compelling, and funny characters of this book.
I may have received this book as an ARC but now I will purchase it because it is a keeper and one I will definitely add it to my library.
Thank you to Ally Bishop for giving me the great opportunity to read and review this book, I truly look forward to reading more offerings from her in the future.

5 of 5 Stars (If there were more to give, I would)

I start my review by quoting directly from the book:

" Is it to much to ask to find someone who not only gets you, but is willing to give of themselves to make you happy?"

You are about to learn about a contemporary erotic romance between Lux and Fin. I found while enjoying this story's classy descriptiveness without the Author being over-bearing; providing vivid mental imagery for the reader in comfort helped me solve a question most are afraid to ask about alternate sexual lifestyles.

I've come to learn, in y mid 40s that it's okay to open yourself up to learn about things. In fact it's wonderfully adventureful. If learning about BDSM is taboo, this wonderfully written story will definitely change your mind.

Open yourself up to see another side of life that most are curious about but are too afraid to mention. This book will redefine your apprehensions for discussing such a topic.

Read along with Lux as she tells her tale, the life-style and sometimes being misunderstood both in her profession and personally. Her frustration in wanting a normal relationship. Have you ever had a curiosity about something and been afraid to ask a simple question? I have, especially when it came to different types of lifestyles.

Lux lives the Dominatrix life-style. she meets Fin when he's sent as a fill-in by a friend. She's impressed. He's intrigued, curious and willing to try. Learn, through careful and thoughtful explanation, about BDSM, Fetish Play, Role Play, Subs, Doms all paying attention to sexual pleasures, control awareness - True signs of a Master of the Trade, focusing on the bliss that pain, in some form, offers some of these people.

She's a Dominatrix by night but trying to build "Kinked", her Business idea for the hottest new international dating site, by day.

He's a Scotsman - sometimes a student, sometimes an underwear model, first-time stand-in and wanting to become a full-time horse trainer.

In love, maybe for the first time, and afraid of ruining everything she has with him, she fights her inner self to let go and experience the other side of herself for the first time. Will she fight for it, or will she destroy it like times before.

I've just reached a part of the story where I've gone from being exhilarated to shocked to saddened to crying to yelling at the characters out loud. WoW! All felt inside a short burst. Now I can not take another reading break and would not have by the way but for the flu I have battled for the past 2 weeks. Now, I read straight through to the end because whatever just happened, there's definitely more in store and I'm an emotional tidal wave right now. I have to finish this book tonight!

As a single tear rolls down my cheek, I have now reached Chapter 32 and I'm holding my breath. I just spent the past couple of hours on an emotional roller-coaster and I'm almost afraid to finish as I'm not sure my heart can take it,but I have to know.

Okay, I'm bawling like a school girl. I'm not going to tell you why. You'll have to read this book for yourself. I have to say, the way this played out in my head as I was reading it made me think I should be watching a steamy Saturday night movie. WoW! Yes, I say it again. My eighteen year old daughter came down to the living room and I was crying, saying WoW over and over again. I said to her, I love it when a great book can make me cry like this. Being an emotional person and a Clairsentient opens me up to feeling a lot of things and when I can dive right into a story and feel the character's emotions at the artful delivery of the story telling by the writer they have me hooked.

I tip my hat to Ally Bishop for delivering a fantastic love story set inside an erotic adventure lesson and for teaching me a few things not only about the subject matter but about myself.

I anxiously await her next novel as I know it can only be as great a read as this was.

I give this book my highest recommendations.

A domme who turns out to be secretively submissive, how many times have we seen this one happen before? More oft than not. Mistress Hathaway is a domme in demand. Many submissives make good use of her professional dominatrix service. And it is a service she gladly provides and makes a good living doing it. It is a job with heady power trips mixed in with sensual delights. This is not to say Mistress Hathaway sleeps with her paying customers, but the intimacy does develop at times. One in particular is her new client, Fin MacKenzie. He is seducing Mistress Hathaway to break a few of her rules.

From a characters in this story were okay for me. I didn't really like or dislike either characters. I do dislike the way a domme is portrayed in this book. It is probably pedantic of me to prefer she identify as a switch. The issue I take with Mistress Hathaway is that it insinuates that a woman dominant is really just a submissive hiding in a wolf's skin. Since I know more female dominants who have not a single submissive bone in their body, this stereotype tends to grate after awile. The BDSM in this story is fine. It's light in some ways and to be expected from an erotic romance spicing it up with a bit of kink. Overall, the story is a quick read and a bit forgettable. Nothing sticks out about it as innovative or unique. Still, it is a sweet erotic romance for those interested in more than vanilla sex.

Lux Trace is a Dominatrix, who has created the Mistress persona to be in control of her life. As a professional Dominatrix she follows three rules:

Never let them disobey you.
Never let them touch you.
Never have sex with the.

She was mostly in control of her life until she met Fin Mackenize, a sexy talking, well-built, Scotsman. Fin is accepting of Lux's career and future endeavors. He pushes her to try new experiences, however it only causes Lux to withdraw from their relationship. The story becomes intense and I want to throw my e-reader at Lux's head. Lux is a strong woman with an unkind past that she hides from Fin and herself. Lux is unable to move forward in a relationship or her career without dealing with her fears and trust issues. It's an internal struggle she has to face on her own. "I drew lines I refused to cross, and instead of liberating me and giving me control, they kept me tied down and afraid." Lux is now in control of fixing her mistakes but is it too late? I encourage to find out.

I usually don´t read BDSM but I liked what I read in the back of the book. I wasn´t disappointed..

Aally Bishop is doing a really good job of setting a high pace and throw you in head first into Mistress Hathaway´s life and business. The way you get introduced to this world and all the people that inhabits it is a well orchestrated plan. Meeting Mistress Hathaway and following her in her line of work as a Dominatrix is fascinating. You get a deeper understanding for the darker side of people’s needs and desires. Lux, her real name, has strict rules she follows, most of the time. Well, she has three rules and she has started breaking one of them lately. Her job is what she lives for and the only other thing in her life is her two best friends, Ella and Noah. She don´t do anything out of her lines of rules and ethics, until she meets Fin. A tall gorgeous Scotsman that fill in for a friend that couldn´t do a job for Lux. She feels an instant attraction to him but keeps it professional, for a time at least. Will she follow her feelings and surrender to Fin and his ideas? Or will she stay in her safe and in a way protected, but lonely life? Does she take the risk to get the life her friend Ella has and Lux wants?

This is a well written book with twists and turns that keep you reading to see what happens on the next page. Trust me when I say this is NOT another Fifty Shades of Grey, there is nothing unhealthy in Fin and Lux relationship.

The leading lady, Mistress Hathaway, is a professional dominatrix, fulfilling the fantasies of her clients - men and women alike. This could make for some excellent steamy reading, however, it comes off more as playing at a dominate than actually being one. Encounters with clients are after moments instead of glimpses into how she works. Personal intimate scenes are done and over before your heart rate has a chance to rise, leaving this reader underwhelmed.

This isn't to say that the characters weren't interesting, or the characters journey wasn't worth reading, just she could have been a world renowned baker with a kink (and her clients too) and their would have been less expectation from Mistress Hathaway in the boudoir.

'I very much enjoyed meeting Lux and her friends. It is a well, written book and the characters are very likable. The sex scenes are done with class and bring intensity to the story as well as feeling. Lux is working as a Dominatrix but it is not what defines her. You learn early in the book, that she struggles with trust issues and the need to control everything but the story doesn't reveal why until much later. Without spoiling the story, let me say that she deals with her issues and succeeds with her goals. It is a romance novel with some bondage and dominance/submissiveness which adds to the erotic scenes. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I look forward to the next book in the series. If you like strong female characters, you'll like this book.

This is a good example of a good book that just didn't sit well for me. I gave bonus points for an author actually knows how to approach BDSM. Also bonus points for novelty. Its pretty rare in my experience that the female is the Dom...or the one with the commitment phobia. I enjoy a different spin on things so i upgraded it even though i actually really didn't like this book at all. The sex scenes were hot and i loved the openmindedness but i didn't really dig this couple. The heroine was a total bitch to the hero and while i sympathize with her past i didnt think it was traumatic enough to explain how she acted. And while i can't knock it because i was warned i'm really not a fan of the written scottish accent. Its cute IRL but written it just hurts my brain. I didn't dig the coupl or the story and I didn't buy this as a love story. Props for good research and novelty though

Lux is used to having all of the control. In her work as a Dominitrix it is imperative. But, Lux has yet to find the balance of that life and one that includes a relationship. That is until she meets Fin. Fin, the sexy Scot, comes in and decimates Lux’s walls and boundaries. This terrifies Lux but she can’t see herself being with anyone but him. So, how can Lux deal with her issues and not destroy what she so desperately wants? Is it possible for her to have her cake and eat it too or will she willingly destroy the best thing that has ever happened to her?

This was quite the sexy story. It illustrated a world that most people are not familiar with. The world of BDSM can be intimidating for those on the outside looking in. In this book, we see both sides of those who participate. The complex nature of those who choose to dominate and those who choose to submit. Through Lux we experience both and a taste of how real life is for those with these preferences. Lux is a complex character. She is probably one of the most real characters I have ever read. Her flaws and fears influence just like anyone else. Though Lux is such a flawed character it balances out with Fin. Fin is such a sexy addition and you truly can’t see Lux with anyone but him. Though we don’t get to see him as deeply as Lux we do see his influence on her and its outcomes. I think this book had a fantastic story woven with subject matter that most people aren’t aware of. This was my first Aly Bishop book, but I guarantee it won’t be my last.

Want to know if the whole series is worth reading? Read my overall review of the whole series at seriesousbookreviews.com! Spoiler Free!
**I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own and not influenced by my source.**

I read this one after I read Crossing the Line and I'm glad I did. It helped prepare me for Lux character and made me curious to see what would happen in her own story.

I was worried that the BDSM/dominatrix aspect of this novel would overshadow Lux's character development but it never reached that point. Instead, it was used as one aspect of her character but it never overwhelmed the story. There also isn't a lot of it either. There's enough to get the point across but it isn't a book that is all sex scenes and no character development.

This book is all about Lux growing into a strong independent woman and sorting her life out. Along the way she might find romance but more importantly, the focus is on her and I liked that a lot.
