Shelf, designed by Paolo Benevelli for Ceramiche Coem, wins the Good Design Award 2018

Shelf designed by Paolo Benevelli for Ceramiche Coem has won the Good Design Award 2018. With this project the tile, besides its traditional function, becomes a useful surface, in a novel application of the materials.

Batch-colored porcelain stoneware is crafted to make an L-shaped piece. Combining these parts, infinite configurations open the way for a range of possible uses: bookcases, shelving, display counters and tops for all kinds of spaces. In other words: Shelf is a modular system that becomes a true micro-architecture.

The project has also been included in the ADI Design Index 2018 which brings together the best design in production, selected for the Compasso d’Oro ADI award. Shelf took the ADI Ceramics & Bathroom Design Award 2017 for process innovation, high performance and adaptability.
