social media platforms.
2. Be Who You Are - Write in your own voice and from your own perspective based on your
position, expertise and personality. Identify your name and position with ___________ whenever you discuss ___________ matters or engage in social media on behalf of ___________ . Dont publish ___________ -related content or on behalf of ___________ anonymously or under a pseudonym. (See Be Honest)
3. Add a Disclaimer - When posting content youve created to blogs, please include a disclaimer
that reads something like, The information posted on this site is my personal opinion and does not necessarily represent the position, strategy or opinion of ___________. Only those ofcially designated by ___________ have the authorization to speak on behalf of the company.
4. Copyrights & Intellectual Property - Please respect the copyright, fair use and nancial
disclosure laws. When quoting another blog, please inform them and provide a link when possible. If posting music, photography, or video, please use something from the public domain or consult a copyright-free website or a website with Creative Commons Commercial provisions (see http://creativecommons.org/about/licenses).
6. Respect Privacy - Respect the privacy of your co-workers as well as our clients, our suppliers,
and partners. Please obtain prior approval before you cite or reference.
7. Respect the Person - Remember that youre writing to real people: not computer terminals.
Treat your audience with respect. Sometimes emotions can air in social media spaces and people may say things that are offensive and inciting. Youre expected to remain above the fray and consistently demonstrate exemplary behavior. Avoid inappropriate language and topics that may be considered objectionable or inammatory.
9. Share Expert Information - You can add value to the social media conversation by providing
expert knowledge on a given subject. Sometimes your expert knowledge may derive from another expert. Be willing to reference and link to their websites when possible.
10. Be Generous - Be generous in providing information, compliments and links to your sources. In
the social media world, the more generous you are, the more youre own presence will increase.
11. Be Honest - When you write content or comments, be honest about you are, who you
represent, and what you write. If you make a mistake, admit it. If you alter an old post, indicate that youve done so.
12. Pause Before Publishing - When you post content or comments be sure to pause before
publishing and double check what you wrote. Make sure your grammar is good, words are spelled correctly, your information is accurate, and your attitude is right.
13. Maintain Your Responsibilities - Your participation in social media should not interfere with
your day to day responsibilities.
