EXCERPT – Just to be able to tell you I told you so (Telling), 2016 by Katharina Ludwig published on 2016-11-25T19:48:28Z Just to be able to tell you I told you so (2016) takes the form of written text fragments, small objects and digital elements that together comprise sets of predictions and forecasts applying the rhetoric and to some extent ritualistic elements of the Blackpool palm readers. The texts are written in Simple Future and Future Progressive as their main tenses and refer to partially fictional events, both utopic and distopic, located in a time and place to come. The past and the present as we know it are rendered as almost redundant and only exist as reference points far out of the fragmented, layered narrative told through promises and predictions. These textual fragments are presented as audio tracks, subtitles of short video sequences, digitally generated texts accessible via a QR code, or a printed zine, and are accompanied or substituted by objects. They tell a non-linear, abstract narrative about possible or impossible future scenarios and temporalities and our urge to know the future before it actually becomes the present. voice: Dvora Davis www.dvoradavis.com www.katharinaludwig.com Genre Art
