Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I support talented students in accessing challenging classes at a performing arts school. My students come from across grades and all artistic disciplines. They're artists, dancers, musicians, actors and some of them are learning to work behind the scenes. I help them stay organized, study and be successful in their academic and arts classes.
My students are talented and passionate students with learning disabilities who need a bit of support to keep up with the rigorous demands of a school with high standards, both in academics and in the performing arts.
I work hard with my students to make sure they are successful in math, science, English and social studies classes so they can have the creative space and freedom to shine in their artistic discipline.
My Project
For this project, I hope have a calculator, markers and whiteboards donated along with other classroom materials. These materials will not directly teach my students new skills, but they will help prime my students for learning in all content areas.
In my learning skills class, I help students gain strategies to stay organized, learn, prepare for tests and complete challenging classwork.
It has been my experience students can learn just as much from their peers.
Many of my students are learning to better foster social relationships with their peers. With the tools donated to this project, students will be able to learn how to better work with others to achieve personal and common goals, a skill everyone must learn to develop.
