We all love Oklahoma. But at one point or another, you may have caught yourself wondering about the tiny what-ifs that could be done to really take this state over the top. Well now, at least one pair of “visionaries” has come up with a plan to get things started.
In a presentation that's equal parts satire and social/political commentary, creators Sean Bonner and Allen Morgenstern layout their plan to transform the state from the grassy, flat Native America we're all used to, into a new border-to-border lake.
Some of their tongue-in-cheek ideas include using injection-well water to first fill the state, to make Oklahoma City metro a central island, relocating the city of Tulsa to the panhandle, and using the excess dirt to build a giant waterslide in Missouri.
At last check, the Kickstarter campaign created by Bonner and Morgenstern had already quadrupled its lofty goal of $100, with donors receiving anything from a deep sense of civic pride to a hardcover copy of the official “New Oklahoma” plans.
It's all meant to be taken in jest, of course. But who knows? If a favorable feasibility report is returned, you just might end up with some new beachfront property!
